Stop The Makeup Slide With This One Technique!

Don’t you hate it when your lipstick feathers out onto your skin, making your lips look hot mess rather than just hot. Or when your eyeliner quits lining your eyes and decides to line your face instead. Makeup smearing is a cosmetic loving girl’s nightmare. It takes your look from en pointe to straight out ‘OMG take it off!’ So what’s a girl to do if this is a regular problem? Sandbagging.

Sandbagging was brought into the mainstream by Kimmy K’s makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, and it’s surprisingly simple to do…

After you’ve applied foundation and concealer you take a loose powder and a wedge sponge and press the powder into the areas that need to be free from the curse of the slide and smudge – so around your lips and right up tight under your eyes. You then go about doing the rest of your makeup while it sets and sucks up grease and moisture, effectively creating a dam. Once you’re finished gussying yourself up, you dust off the powder and you’re done.

If things do what they’re meant to do, and the sandbagging is successful, you’ll be able to swan around looking gorgeous all day knowing that your eyeliner will stay around your eyes and your lipstick won’t end up looking Joker-esque.

Want to see how easy sandbagging is? Check out this video from our fav YouTube beauty guru, Wayne Goss.

So does your eye makeup and lippy have a tendency to travel? Have you tried the sandbagging technique? Did it stop the slide? Is this something you’re keen to try to stop yourself looking like you’ve been out all night when in fact you’ve had a solid eight hours and feel as fresh as a daisy?

Just another thing for me to fail at badly lol.

I'll have to give it a go see if it makes a difference for me. I pack the powder on anyway so I imagine it will have similar results.

I haven't tried baking yet. Im still trying to learn the basics let alone this one lol

Interesting! I will give this a go next time I'm heading out for a big night!

Eeeeek another step in applying make up? I just don't have, or wish to spend, that much time on it. I want to apply something and know it will look fabulous all day long!

This is really clever and if it works why not .

I do 'baking' when I go all out on makeup. It seems similar to sandbagging. Is there a difference? Baking does help with keeping my makeup in place.

I'm wondering since I have oily skin if I should just sandbag my entire face to stop my makeup from traveling hehe. It really reminds me of baking but after watching the video I think I'm going to test it out, I'm all for techniques that will stop a lippy from feathering!

And too much time! I am lucky if I can slap some foundation on before heading out.
