Have you tried sugaring before?

When you think of hair removal you probably think of shaving or waxing.  Or maybe epliation, or something more permanent like electrolysis or IPL?

But have you heard of sugaring?

The Neanderthals, Persians, Romans, Indians and Egyptians all removed parts or all their body hair - albeit by slightly more natural means

Sugar waxing is an ancient natural hair removal technique which originated in the Middle East.  It's similar to waxing, in that you apply the 'sugar wax' to the skin and remove with a waxing strip.  But here's where it's different:

  • Sugaring does not remove live skin so unlike waxing, sugaring does not hurt the skin.
  • Sugar wax is made from natural ingredients which can be cleaned easily with water - so you're not going to be stuck (literally) trying to remove wax from your skin or surfaces.
  • Sugar wax only needs to be lukewarm to use - no risk of burning here!
  • Sugaring is less painful as hair is pulled in the same direction as the growth, unlike waxing.

We're putting Aio's Waxing Body Sugar to the test.  This kit contains the sugar wax, wax strips and spatulas - all you need for up to 8 weeks of fuzz free skin!  It's perfect for all body areas.

Aio's Waxing Sugar will only stick to the hair, so you won't be left with sore or red skin.  It's natural as with no artificial preservatives or petroleum by-products, making it great for those with sensitive skin.  And if it's used regularly you'll see a reduction in hair growth.

So is this a trial team you'd be interested in joining? Why? Have you tried sugaring before or is it something you've never heard of before?  Why do you think it would benefit your skin?

9th May, 2015

Yup, tried it before. In fact years back I used to make my own wax with sugar and lemon. Would be keen to try again.

Still sounds painful to me. Can't wait to read the reviews

Shaving is normally my preffered method of hair removal, I have actually never heard of sugaring until now! It sounds like it'd be great, my skin is quite sensitive and prone to shaving rash and gets quite dry so the fact that this only sticks to the hairs and not the skin makes me think this would be perect for me with minimal skin irritation :)

I was eyeing up the sugar wax that was in the vault but was no where near quick enough! That was the first I had heard of sugar waxing and I'm really intrigued! I would love to give it a go! Then I may actually not have caveman legs over winter for a change haha!

Not tried sugaring but would love to ditch the razor.

I would love to try this. Um so sick of shaving haha especially as I always end up with really painful ingrown hairs.

Never tried sugaring...I wonder what sets it apart from the average hot wax.. I'd love to not rip my tan or my sensitive skin off.

Have waxed many a times. Ouchy freakin ouchy!

2nd May, 2015

I have tried this before. I have a low pain threshold so any kind of waxing still hurts.

I have heard of this! Never tried it myself, I tried home waxing once and it was just so messy. I like the idea of being able to actually just wash it away. I will have to invest if I don't get a trial.

I've never tried this before, but I would love to try it! My partner and I are both really into using natural products, so this would be great!

Holy moley! This product sounds like a God send! I have never heard of this before, but just from reading about it above I would be super keen to try this out! This may be TMI but shaving the lady parts is SUCH a pain in the A** and I just find that I don't have time or money to get waxes every few weeks and I am way to chicken to use home wax strips because I have before and it was not a good time... it is so hard to get rid of the leftover wax it leaves you so sticky! This sounds so easy and carefree, I tend to have sensitive skin as well, especially 'down there' so this sounds like it would be perfect! Would absolutely love to try this!!

Never tried sugaring but I wax on a regular basis and would love to give this a go! The fact that it doesn't rip live skin is the selling point for me though!
