Have you tried sugaring before?

When you think of hair removal you probably think of shaving or waxing.  Or maybe epliation, or something more permanent like electrolysis or IPL?

But have you heard of sugaring?

The Neanderthals, Persians, Romans, Indians and Egyptians all removed parts or all their body hair - albeit by slightly more natural means

Sugar waxing is an ancient natural hair removal technique which originated in the Middle East.  It's similar to waxing, in that you apply the 'sugar wax' to the skin and remove with a waxing strip.  But here's where it's different:

  • Sugaring does not remove live skin so unlike waxing, sugaring does not hurt the skin.
  • Sugar wax is made from natural ingredients which can be cleaned easily with water - so you're not going to be stuck (literally) trying to remove wax from your skin or surfaces.
  • Sugar wax only needs to be lukewarm to use - no risk of burning here!
  • Sugaring is less painful as hair is pulled in the same direction as the growth, unlike waxing.

We're putting Aio's Waxing Body Sugar to the test.  This kit contains the sugar wax, wax strips and spatulas - all you need for up to 8 weeks of fuzz free skin!  It's perfect for all body areas.

Aio's Waxing Sugar will only stick to the hair, so you won't be left with sore or red skin.  It's natural as with no artificial preservatives or petroleum by-products, making it great for those with sensitive skin.  And if it's used regularly you'll see a reduction in hair growth.

So is this a trial team you'd be interested in joining? Why? Have you tried sugaring before or is it something you've never heard of before?  Why do you think it would benefit your skin?

I have some friends who swear by this method of hair removal. They are of middle eastern descent and make this at home. I've always wanted to try it but making it myself is way too hard. Would love to try out Aio's Waxing Sugar to see how well it works.

My waxist uses a sugar based wax. Yes it still hurts, but comparing the pain from the month before the change to a sugar wax, to after; it hurts less. I do think that it sticks less to your skin, and more to the hair. Waxing is such a tedious activity, but at least when its done you don't have to worry about it for a while- laziness for the win!

I have heard of sugaring before and I have tried to make my own (youtube is great for recipes) and it was a bit on the painful side but it was great to play with and I was curious about it. I would love to try this as making your own sugaring wax is very, very messy!

oooh as a bride to be I would LOVE to try this one!

I've tried to wax myself years ago with normal wax and couldn't handle the pain! I leave it to the professionals now haha. It would be interesting to see if this hurts less!

This would be great to prevent bear legs during the winter months.

sounds interesting! I've never waxed as it sounds painful. Looking forward to hearing about this and whether it is less painful than normal waxing, and if it really does reduce hair growth!

I haven't heard of this before but would be keen to give this a go to see the results for myself

I've never heard of sugaring before. It still sounds painful but I'm willing to give it a shot...even if I have never waxed before. Waxing is something I'll be getting into this term in my beauty class, and that has always sounded painful. I'm hoping it won't be as painful as using tweezers to pluck out my hair...in that case you have to feel every individual hair being pulled but with waxing, it's a lot of hair being pulled in like 5 - 10 seconds. If I'm going to be subjected to traditional waxing, then I might as well try other methods too and this seems like as good an option/method as any.

never tried it, but am SUPER keen to - looks interesting, and I am constantly fighting this battle - dark hair, pale skin, medical condition that causes hair to grow faster....

I've heard of it but had no clue how it works... it sounds like a better alternative to waxing, so I wonder why it's not more popular. I'd love to try it, as I'm sick of shaving but too scared to wax..

Would love to trial this! have tried waxing a few times, but it hurts/rips my skin too much - this sounds like the perfect thing! Have a teenage daughter who would trial it with me!

I have never heard of it before but it sounds like something I would like to give a go
