Incredible upcycling ideas for your beauty room!

We’re rather fond of upcycling or recycling here at BRHQ. Not long ago BR Nat wrote about exactly doing that – finding new ways to use your beauty stash, such as using fancy soaps to freshen draws, and using old toothpaste tubes (cleaned out) to ice cakes with. Genius ideas! So what are some other options out there to make your beauty stash even more beautiful, while saving objects from unnecessarily filling up a landfill? We hit up Pinterest for some ideas…

Remember how back in the old days we stored our big boxy televisions in a huge cabinet, and when it wasn’t in use you’d shut the doors on it and hide it from view? Well, those cabinets were going the way of the Dodo until some handy person figured out they’d make amazing beauty spaces (as well as craft spaces, coffee stations, garden tool spaces, the list goes on…), like this one:

Speaking of things becoming obsolete. CD towers. What are they good for? (Apart from continuing to hoard CDs if you’re anything like me.) If yours is gathering dust you could turn it into this amazing bathroom storage solution. We think it would work equally well as a spot to store makeup brushes, nail polishes, lippy, mascara…

Short on space? Check out this old suitcase that’s been revamped into a beauty station. Tuck it away under your bed or in a wardrobe, then bring it out, open it up, and just like that you’re ready to roll.

Love Pringles? Or any kind of food that comes in a long cardboard tube? Don’t throw away the tube as rubbish, instead get out some paints, sparkles and glue and remake it into a cotton pad dispenser. We think cotton balls would work just as well too.

Adore that vintage vibe? Scour the shops and TradeMe for a Singer sewing machine table and you can transform it into the most divine vanity.

Speaking of vintage… who knew an old school car mirror could become a super cool vanity mirror?

So many cool ideas… I’m going to start hitting up TradeMe for vintage car mirrors and put one in every room in the house. Maybe even get one for my handbag… ok, that might be going too far. So what’s your favourite way to take a traditionally non-beauty product and make it part of your beauty life? Share your makeovers on the Photo Wall!

Some of these ideas are amazing, although I would never turn an old singer table white, take it back to the original and varnish - they have beautiful wood! We have a couple of wardorbes like the top one, might be a great way to make a desk!

The only one that might be a bit different from the usual re-purposed cleaned out candle jars is using a lunch bag as a makeup bag while traveling.
