Fab Five Beauty Tools You Never Knew You Needed!

23 September, 2015 - 08:19pm by - First Lady | 28 Comments

Article by BR Kellie

I’ll never forget the first time I saw an eyelash curler. It was a ‘what the?’ moment if ever there were one. All that curved and angled metal with a clamping mechanism on the top, it looked more like a torture device than something my eyelashes needed. But need one they did and once I got the handle of using the curler I never looked back.

Discovering a beauty tool you never knew you needed truly is an exciting affair, and there are just so many out there! So we’ve sussed out our top five favourites (for the moment anyway!).

The Paw Palette.

A must for makeup artists, these makeup-mixing palettes are a great way to help you create looks you love without making a massive mess. Even better, they come in fun and funky shapes, like kissy lips, cats and hearts. While they’re marketed at makeup artists, we reckon they’re great for any woman who likes to mix her own foundation shades, lippies and nail polishes.

Billy B Lash & Brow Groomer.

Do you suffer from clumpy eyelashes or eyebrows that won’t behave? You need to check out the Billy B Lash & Brow Groomer. This contraption looks like it should be attached to a medical professional, but what it is in a girl’s best brow and lash friend. Small enough to stow away in your makeup bag or purse, it’s ideal for those ‘ermagherd, my brows and lashes are so off fleek right now’.

The Epilator Stick

Are you plagued by stray facial hairs, but don’t want to spend loads on buying a hair removal device? Then an epilator stick could be what you’re after. With a simple twist and pull movement the hair is quickly and efficiently removed.  Best of all, they only cost a few dollars and are nice and small, so you can have one stashed in your handbag, glove box, office desk and bathroom for those ‘where did that come from?’ random hair moments.

Brow Buddy Kit.

The ladies were chatting a while back on the forum about whether their brows were sisters or twins or so distantly related they could pass each other on the street and have no idea they belonged to the same family. If you struggle with the latter you’ll love the Brow Buddy from Billion Dollar Brows. It’s described on their website as a ‘brow shaping genius’ – and we’d have to agree! The brow buddy takes into account your face shape, ensuring you can create brows that suit you – from where your brows should start and end to the shape of the arch. If you think it’s time for your brows to have a family reunion, then you need this in your life.

O Wow Brush.

Is this makeup brush not super surreal to look at? It reminds us of a tiny little brush you’d use for brushing a doll’s hair. Except it’s way cooler than that. Packed full of ultra fine fibres, it’s velvety smooth and a real treat for your skin. It can be used to apply primers, powders and creams, and when used with foundation leaves you looking as airbrushed as a model in a magazine. Oh wow alright!

There you have it, our top five weird yet truly wonderful beauty finds. Do you have any to add to the list? We’re always on the lookout for fab new products to try, so chat away!

OMG I've been meaning to get a mixing palette for the longest time, I need it to deposit my foundation on to, I just keep forgetting until I'm sitting there in the morning with a foundationed back of my hand. I need that heart one. The O Wow brushes just seem impractical to me, I couldn't imagine holding a brush at that angle to paint my face.

I have one of those lash combs, it's near-on useless. I used to use tweezers to separate my lashes before having it, and still do! Always gotta have a spoolie though (for both lashes and brows), they're so handy! :)

I only learned about the Brow Buddy device this year after the March BRBB which got me into the Billion Dollar Brow brand. I saw that odd looking device on their website and thought what the heck was it so I "educated" myself by watching a couple of tutorials. I'm still not convinced it could really help me because my hands can't connect straight/curved lines to save my life.

These look like great tools to have especially for me, the wow brush and lash and brow groomer :-)

Ok, I so totally need that palette. AND it comes in a cat version? It's like they know me! ;) I'm intrigued by the epilator stick, where do you find them? Off to Google!

Interesting. Never seen or heard of half of them, but they do sound useful.

The O Wow brush looks fabulossssss

I'd love to see that o wow brush trialled- it looks so intriguing! I recently bought a beauty spatula and it is hands down the best thing I've bought! You get soooo much extra product out of your beauty products ! I know its going to save me heaps of money in the long run :)

I'm really liking the idea of the O Wow brush... I'm sure I've seen other brands make something similar though!

I think you guys have pretty much covered it. Those mixing pallettes are so cute. What a cool idea. I need something for my brows at the moment their two hairy cousins that need shaping. I have been looking at templates online.

need the epilator stick and want the oh Wow brush!

23rd September, 2015

That mini-epilator looks genius!

23rd September, 2015

I think that hair removing device disguised as a q-tip is ingenious. I want and need one.

These things are definitely interesting! I like the idea of the brow buddy. Is that wow brush big or little? I've seen Tati off youtube use a brush that kind of looks like that but it's pretty much the same size as a dishwashing brush. It's really weird and I can't imagine how it works but she likes it!

I got mine off fishpond for about $16 and it came about two weeks later. Just type in beauty spatula and it should come up. It's the perfect size for my Revlon colourstay bottle and fun to use :)

Sarah I seriously love your brow game! I'm trying everyday (Kat Williams "e-ve-ry day") to get better at shaping my brows but it takes so much work and still not great.

Sarahbeautynz

It does take a lot of work! I love your brows, they look super full and not drawn on which is what I can only dream of lol...are they super full?

Koni

On second thought I may just have to take you to the Optometrist haha - my brows are thin due to my overzealous plucking :-S my sister still asks me what was I thinking *sobs* but I'm motivated with brows like yours!

Sarahbeautynz

No way! Ahh the beauty of makeup, so deceiving! Well yeah I have zero brows also, due to the exact same reason lol o how smart we were! But you're sweet xx I really want to get tattooed brows but am too scared it'll go horribly wrong!
