Does your primer offer a high SPF?

If there's one thing this pommy girl loves about New Zealand, it's the weather.  More specifically, the sun.  Long summer days filled with sunshine.  And even in Winter there's still a lot of sun.  Which kind of caught me out my first Winter here.

See in the UK Winter is grey, dreary and wet.  If the sun shines it probably means the world has been knocked off its axis.  So when I heard New Zealand had a similar weather pattern to the UK, albeit reversed, I completely forgot about sun protection.  Yes I was sunburnt in Winter.  A true pom abroad.

Why all this talk about Winter?  Well, Summer is on it's way out, which means many people stop using sunscreen.  Some rely on 'added SPF' in their daily beauty products like moisturisers or BB creams, but if they skip the product for a day, they're going out without any sun protection at all.  And in most products, 'added SPF' is intended to be a booster to regular sunscreen, usually offering no more than a Sun Protection Factor of 15.

Za True White Perfect Protector is a primer with a difference.  It's a primer that's primarily a sunscreen - it offers SPF 50+!  Meaning not only are you creating the perfect base for your makeup, you're protecting your skin from the damaging effects of UV exposure.

The other benefits of this product include:

  • Evens out skin tone and provides the perfect base for foundation.
  • Pollutant Protect Powder.
  • Oil Control Powder to absorb excess sebum and create a long lasting matte look.
  • Triple Vitamin C to prevent freckles and pigmentation.

If you'd like to put your hand up to trial this fabulous product, why not tell us why you think you'd benefit from it.  Does your regular primer offer a high SPF?  Are you diligent about sun protection all year round or do you stop worrying when summer is over?

I currently have 3 primers in rotation, and none of them have any SPF protection, so I tend to rely on the small amount of SPF featured in some BB creams/foundations which is usually not enough. I'll only apply a 'real' sunscreen if I know I'm going to be out in the sun for long periods during summer, even though I know this is not actually enough protection, because I hate the greasy feeling I'm left with from traditional sunscreens. If I could get my sun protection from my primer, that would be perfect.

SPF50!? Wow!!!! I use my chichi BB cream as a primer and that has SPF 30, i was never someone who cared about skincare until a year ago, its been a year round thing for me, you never know what the weather is like in New Zealand. Today in Auckland it was cloudy with no sign of sun and then there was a bright ray of sunshine for an hour before going back to overcast, so now Im all for anything that has the slightest amount of sunscreen, especially since Im entering into my 30s
