Do you want to tackle the signs of ageing...while you sleep?

Beauty Sleep.  Sleeping Beauty.  A good night's rest is the key to great skin.  We've heard it all before a hundred times, right?  But do you know what your skin is busy doing while you sleep?

The Basics.

You know how our hair is psychologically dead?  As in, it has no blood, nerves or muscles?  The same goes for our top layer of skin.  The epidermis has no blood vessels and the very top layer of skin is made of tightly packed dead skin cells that shed during the day.

During the day your skin is pretty much under attack from environmental factors, the weather and cosmetics.

So what happens when I sleep?

When you're in a deep sleep the metabolic rate of the skin speeds up - the skin cells increase in production and the breakdown of proteins reduces.  Essentially your skin begins to repair itself.

During sleep your body produces less of the stress hormone cortisol.  Cortisol is responsible for thinning skin, stretch marks and discolouration. Conversely, sleep increases the production of melatonin, which is the body's equivalent of an antioxidant.  It fights age spots and fine lines.

A 'proper night's sleep' (as The Mummy calls it) can also boost the efficiency of the growth hormones that repair and regenerate collagen producing cells.  Collagen is a protein that strengthens blood vessels and gives skin it's elasticity.

Will any sleep do the trick?

Nope!  Cell repair happens at all stages of sleep, but daytime sleep isn't a substitute for night time sleep when it comes to skin repair.

Why?  The energy needed to repair tissue isn't available during a nap.  This 'spare' energy only becomes available during deep sleep.

You're about to blow my mind aren't you?

Pretty much.  Olay have released a regime that delivers powerful anti-ageing ingredients when the skin is most active - while you are sleeping.  So while your skin is putting maximum effort into repairing it's DNA, you can boost the efforts with targeted ingredients designed to work with your skin while you sleep!

The luxurious Olay Regenerist Overnight Overnight Miracle Regime is packed with powerful ingredients, including Peptide, Niacinamide, Olive-M, Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerol and LysLastine. These ingredients work with your skin’s natural repair rhythm to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, increase skin’s elasticity and bolster skin resilience against environmental stressors.

The regime starts with the Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence which starts the renewal of a million surface cells with just one drop!  When you use the Pre-Essence combined with the award-winning Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, you'll deliver twice the advanced anti-ageing actives 10 skin-layers deep!   Then in the evening, it's time for the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Night Cream, a unique gel-like formula assists with cell renewal and repair while you sleep.

15 incredibly lucky reviewers are going to be putting the brand spanking new regime to the test, each reviewing all three products,  valued at over $130!

So if you'd love to join this trial team (who wouldn't?!) why not tell us about your experience with overnight treatments - do you regularly use them or is it all new to you?  Are you just starting to delve into the world of anti-ageing products or are you neck deep in the age-defying product range?  Why do you want a spot on this trial team?

I have tried overnight skincare products before, and I really love the way they can help the skin to looks a lot better. But I have never tried this brand before, so, I would love to go into this trial because I'm very interested to see how it could work on my skin and evaluate which brand is better for my necessities, my actual one or this one. For me are important the reviews others users write about the products, but I always prefer when I can try them myself, so,in that way I can get my own personal opinion about the product, and ofcourse, share this opinion with others so they can know about too.

Somehow I've already started to get wrinkles on my forehead (only fine lines so far) and I'm thinking maybe I should start getting into the anti aging stuff. I've used overnight packs but they're more to moisturise and hydrate. This sounds really cool I would love to try it as like my intro into anti aging!

I have recently started a regime (since about December) as I am getting to the age where I need to prevent signs of ageing. Usually in the morning or evening I'll use a serum and then my daytime moisturiser and then at night i put a night creammafter I cleanse my face. I am just currently experimenting with what products and brands work for me to find the best one so would love to give this one a go.

I use a moisturising mask overnight sometimes. Great after a hard weekend as it helps combat that Monday and Tuesday dull face. Another thing I do is put toothpaste as a spot treatment overnight hoping that red lump has shrunk overnight and can be easliy concealed. Usually these arrive the folloiwng days after the dull face arrgh!

I used to use Olay all the time when I was young and always received compliments on my youthful skin and no one guessed my real age. I would always say when asked I use Olay!!! But I started using different things as you do and funnily enough just recently bought a god old Olay moisturiser the other day. I would love for my skin to be given an extra boost while I sleep as I haven't really done that except for apricot oil occasionally. A chance to try Olays great new product and let you all know and how fantastic to keep people guessing my age because I would have lovely skin again be able to say my lovely skin is because I use Olay!!

Interesting! I use a night Cream for my eyes before bed but that's it. I'd love to see if there are any benefits to a night time skin care regime

When we sleep that's when we start to heal right? Usually I just apply rosewater toner, eye cream and rosehip oil, I should be doing more right as I get older, OMG I'll be 37 in September :/ Would love to trial these I really need to kick my nightly skin care routine up a few notches!

I'm really interested in trying this out. I have started thinking it's time to look into anti aging products so this would be great!

22nd February, 2017

You're right! There was one!! I'm just starting to get into anti aging products. I've used serums and creams and I've found mostly I get subtle results but within days of running out, the effects vanish back into the fine lines. This system sounds great and it's affordable to keep up!
