Do you use a finishing product over your makeup?

We're saving face this week at Beauty Review and we've already announced two amazing trial opportunities to tackle enlarged pores and combat dry, winter skin.  Well today we're going to be bringing you a multi tasker to combat a number of problems:

1.  Aging, the enviroment and our love of makeup all add up to enlarged pores and fine lines, it's a fact of life.  And there is many a product out there to help.

2.  Makeup needs a smooth base to adhere to and boost it's performance. The general consensus of BR members is that it is indeed a crime not to prime.  A good primer can help smooth the skin surface and turn it in to a blank canvas for applying your makeup.

3.  Makeup seldom looks as good at the end of the day, as it does when we first leave the house.  It slips, it slides and it fades. So do you grin and bear it, add more make up through the day, or find a product to help minimise the daily wear and tear?

Benefit's POREfessional PRO Balm can tackle all three of these problems.  Yes that's right - one product to do it all!  It can be used by itself to minimize the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin.  It can be worn under make up makeup as a primer and it can even be used OVER make up to help your makeup stay put and to minimise pores that might pop up during the day!

Now anything this good needs to be given the Beauty Review test - so we're looking for a trial team to give it a whirl.

So why not tell us - do you use a finishing product as part of your makeup routine? What do you think of dabbing a balm on top of your made up face? Does your makeup cover your pores or do you need a bit more help?

the only thing I generally use is powder but have been eyeing up this product for a while. My skin and make up finish tends be all over the place so this would be awesome.

No can't say I have ever used a finishing product over my makeup or ever a primer! I have always been interested in primers but never want to spend the money if it doesn't make any difference. To be honest I didn't even know you could buy a finishing balm.

Omg I've been dying to try this! My make up never seems to cover my large pores, much to my ongoing frustration! I even prime and still there are massive craters in my face I'm at a loss for what to do.. :( I don't usually put anything over my make up, but I'm keen to try! Perhaps it can help set and provide extra coverage. Porefessional sounds like a magic potion, all three uses in one tube! Would totally love to try.

I've been hearing so much positive feedback from the POREfessional, but I have personally not tried any of the Benefit products myself. I had no idea this particular product could target 3 problems at once! I knew that it could be used as a primer and that it could help to minimise the appearance of pores at the same time, but I didn't know that it could also target fine lines/wrinkles, or that it could be worn OVER makeup! I need to use primer before I apply my makeup as my skin can get quite oily and so I need to prep my skin so the makeup can be applied smoothly, and so the makeup will stay in place during the day. But if this product can also target 2 other additional problems, it sounds like the type of product I would need!

I am waiting on a delivery with a setting spray to arrive. I've never used one so keen to try.

I'm such a cheat - I use a spritz of hairspray to set my eye makeup. Not very conventional, but it works :)

21st April, 2014

I currently don't use a finishing product, but have thought about using one. I've heard a lot of people using setting sprays, and I do find that if I go out my face gets shiny by the end of the night and my make up slips off. I've heard a lot about porefessional and pimple using it to minimise pores. However, I've only heard about using it under make up, like a primer, so the fact that you can use it on top of make up too intrigues me. I have large pores and do find that they get bigger during the day too with my oily skin, so I would be keen to try this. Would be interested in using it underneath as a primer and also in top, to help minimise pores during the day.

Wow! Sounds amazing!

I don't use a finishing product but do use primer and powder over foundation when I want it to go the distance. Still looking for a product that makes you look as fresh faced at the end of the day, as you did in the beginning. I love how make-up looks at the start of the day but mine tends to slide off during the day and settle into creases. I generally tend to try and blot it and then put a very small amount of powder on to take away the dreaded shine.

19th April, 2014

I use a finishing powder over my make-up, but I've never tried something like this! It sounds great and I would love to try it - otherwise where do I get it?

17th April, 2014

I use a primer, and a setting powder, and a setting spray. I had NO idea you could use the Benefit one as a finishing product though!

17th April, 2014

I use powders to set my makeup. Have heard great things about this and would love to try!

I got this as a small sample and for all you ladies that think this is HG, just be a little careful as it isn't suitable to all skins (mine included, made me break out badly).

As for primers, I swore by the Hourglass Mineral Primer (still do) but I've recently discovered Paula's Choice Ultra Light Antioxidant Serum and found that not only does it do an awesome job of keeping make up fresh, it has also really helped improve my skin.

I've heard wonderful things about this product. And anything pore blurring sounds fab to me. Would love to hear about the results people have putting it over top of make up defiantly checking out the reviews on this one :)

Interesting! I never knew about a finishing product. Will have to give it a go
