Do You Still Use Cotton Pads?

How many single-use beauty products are you using a year?  If you're wanting to reduce your beauty footprint a really simple change to make is to switch out a single use product for a reusable alternative.

Take cotton pads/balls for example.   How many cotton balls or rounds do you toss out after a quick wipe and swipe every day?  Cotton is problemtatic for a number of reasons including;

  • Water Consumption.  It takes as much water to make 1kg of cotton as the average person will drink in 2 years.
  • Pesticides.  These lessen soil quality and leach into waterways, impacting animals and humans living close by.
  • Bleach.  Cotton isn't pure white.  White, single use cotton products are heavily bleached, which prevents them from being biodegrable, meaning...the landfills, erm, fill.

If you regularly use a Micellar Water and are looking for an effective, yet gentle way of easily removing make-up and cleansing skin that’s more environmentally friendly, well...this is the trial for you!

Micellar Reusable Eco Pads are Garnier's first ultra-soft, reusable microfiber pads that are washable up to 1000 times per pad, eliminating daily cotton pad waste.

Just add Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water to the reusable Eco Pad, to gently cleanse dirt and impurities from skin and easily remove up to 100% visible make-up!  Garnier Micellar Reusable Eco Pads and Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water are the perfect duo for cleansing skin and removing make-up without harsh rubbing, plus are suitable for the face, eyes and lips and sensitive skin.

After use you can easily hand wash the Eco Pad with soap & water and leave flat to dry, ready to use again.  If you want a deeper cleanse for your pads you can toss them in the washing machine.

If you'd like a spot on this trial team and the chance to review both the Garnier Micellar Reusable Eco Pads and the wonderful Garnier Micellar Rose Water Clean & Glow, why not tell us about your cotton pad habits.  Are you a daily user of single-use cotton pads?  Have you been thinking about making the change to something more environmentally friendly?

These sound like a fantastic way to change my habits! I would love to give them a go

Would love to try these for removing makeup and also applying my night serum.

I never realised there were reusable cotton pads!! This is something I would love the try as it’s super important for the environment. I love that make up is becoming more ecofriendly!

I'm a daily micellar water user and do use cotton pads (bad, I know) tbh I never really thought about the waste until now! Would definitely be keen to try someone more sustainable

I use so many cotton pads at the moment as one wipe is never enough to remove all, even with micellar water. Would love to have a go at these reusable ecopads =)

I did not realise cotton pads are not biodegradable! I use them most days, so I will definitely need to look at making a switch to something else - these reusable eco pads look great! I would love to try them! I hope they will be stocked in supermarkets so they are easily accessible and become a mainstream beauty staple.

I thought what I was using was biodegradable too! Now I feel bad... I do use single-use pads whenever I use my Micellar water cleanser, but to trial out the eco ones would be great. Better for the planet.

Um, what?! Those cotton pads are not biodegradable?! How did I not know that? I’ve been meaning to make the switch to reusable cloth pads for some time now. I have all the lame excuses under the sun as to why I haven’t. These look great and I love that by being introduced by a mainstream brand, and hopefully into supermarkets, they will get people like me thinking and realising that just because it’s cotton doesn’t mean it is going to break down! We already use Garnier micellar water in our house so these will be our new go to, or at least as a back up to reusable fabric pads!

I have to admit I do too use cotton pads. I do however cut the one pad in half and use it. But then again I buy the ones from Kmart & they're huge so I'm not doubt defeating the purpose. I used to use muslin cloth many years ago to remove my make up, mainly because I had heaps after having the kids. Using reuseable pads would be an easy transition.

I do still use cotton pads - everyday! They work great with my Garnier Micellar Water, and I like being able to see the dirt on the cotton pad afterwards.... I would love a more eco-friendly option, but find facecloths too harsh, and didn't know reusable versions of cotton pads existed. I also struggle to find a good cotton pad sometimes too. Stock hasn't been great lately, and sometimes you get ones that seem to disintegrate very quickly!! Long story short, a reusable cotton pad would be amazing, and used in my routine daily :)

Omg these sounds awesome, if they work just like cotton pads then they sound too I guess I'd to be true. I have found using face clothes they are too harsh in my skin. So heck yeah sign me up.

I've been using spray toner to avoid needing cotton pads. I do miss the satisfaction of seeing any remaining makeup on cotton pads though so would love to trial these.

23rd January, 2021

I have been using sing-use cotton pads for as long as I remember. I know that it creates a lot of waste. Would be keen to use something which is more environmentally friendly such as Garnier Micellar Reusable Eco Pads with Garnier Micellar Rose Water Clean & Glow to help saving the environment.

23rd January, 2021

I've only recently learned of reusable makeup pads, amazing idea and I would love to try these out. I do use disposable cotton pads, and would love to clean up my act.

23rd January, 2021

I do use cotton pads to remove my make up and now I feel really bad about it. I never thought of the effects this was having on the environment. How many other things don't we think about, is mind boggling really. I think reusable pads is a fantastic idea. Would love to trial these two products, anything that is good for the planet is good for all of us.
