****This trial opportunity has now closed****

We're laying great foundations this week, and it's not just prepping and creating a beautiful base with our skin that's vital for a finished look.

If you've ever tried to put lipstick over less than smooth lips you'll know the resulting finish will be far from perfect.  Your lipstick will dry, feather, crack and wear off quickly.  You need to prime your lips first, and ideally this should be an ongoing routine.

Begin by regularly (and gently) exfoliating your lips.  You can use the lip balm and soft toothbrush trick or a lip sugar scrub to gently exfoliate your lips using small circular motions. Exfoliation is important to remove excess oil and dead skin.

Next you'll want to ensure your lips are ultra hydrated, especially if you're using lipstick which can be drying.

Living Nature's Lip Hydrator features Manuka Honey to deeply hydrate and condition your pout and Mica to give lips a healthy sheen, and natural sun protection. It promises to treat your lips with its luxurious application and richness along with antimicrobial and anti-oxidant advantages, long-lasting suppleness and soothing benefits.

They're in the BR office right now and we have to say - they look lovely.  But as always, we're going to be looking for new homes for these goodies, so if this is a trial team you'd be interested in why not comment below and tell us your thoughts on prepping and priming your lips; we might just send you one to review!

Going into winter I seem to be getting extremely dry lips. I'm trying out a few lip balms at the moment. None are really doing the trick other than my Dior Creme de Rose. But as that is discontinued I'm excited about this one.

I'm a lip balm addict and am addicted to lip scrub

If I don't prime I get horrible horrible lipstick bleeding- it looks tacky and awful about 5 minutes after application haha. I've used a few products but still on the lookout for a really good one.

I don't tend to do much to prime my lips except use a lip balm to moisturise them.

I hate dry lips and I have only ever tried lip balm as a base for my lipstick. And the lip balms I have used seem to have a bit of a negative affect on the staying power of the lipstick, so I would love to try this!

I just started using a lip primer, I certainly noticed a difference in my lips when wearing lipstick. It seems to stop my lips drying and peeling throughout the day.

Occasionally I'll do a lip scrub and I always carry at least one lip balm on me.

I spend a lot of the day working outside, and tend to get extra dry lips regardless of what I put on them. Would love to try this..

I never thought about priming my lips. I sometimes wonder if I live in the same place than the rest of the world.... I don't use lipstick every day but I use lip butter very often so my lips don't get dry. I hate to have dry lips.

I usually prep my lips using a lipbalm 10 minutes before apply any lip product. It keeps my lips moisturised. I would love to give this a go abd see if it works better than plain lipbalm.

This would be great. i exfoliate with my toothbrush to try and get rid of the dry horrible bits

12th June, 2014

I don't get dry lips very often luckily, but I usually put on a balm/wax product before bed. If I know I'm going to be wearing lipstick later on I try and make an effort to wear balm all day. It's important to wipe the excess off though!

I have never thought of priming my lips, I always use primer on my face and now that I think about it seems obvious. Would love to try it out

Ive never really thought about priming lips before applying product.. will be interesting to see the difference it makes!

Love this idea!!! So before every lip stick application should we exfoliate?

I apply my primer to my lips and also leave a bit of foundation on them too, i thought that was priming my lips lol
