The Pop Up Braid Bar

With the imminent arrival of the new seasons of Vikings and Game of Thrones it's time to brace ourselves for an influx of Pinterest and YouTube tutorials.  These two shows have done what a few years ago would have seemed impossible.  They've brought back the braid.  And they've made braiding cool.

But a simple three ply braid isn't going to cut it.  We're talking intricate designs and an infinite number of strands to keep track of.  It's not for the even ever-so-slightly un-co person to attempt.  The image above links to one girl's attempts at recreating classic Game of Thrones hairstyles - short of having the arms of an octopus and eyes at the back of one's head, this looks impossible to do on on yourself!

So what's a girl to do when she wants to rock a complex braid do, but lacks the skills?  If said girl is London based she can pop into BR Natalie's most favourite place, Selfridges and head to the latest pop-up counter, The Braid Bar.

There's for ten quid (about $20) you can select your desired do from the Braid Menu and a braid technician will put her incredibly dextrous fingers to work, creating a work of art on your head.

BRHQ have fallen in love with the idea of The Braid Bar, which got us to thinking - if Braid Bars were to pop up in say, your local Farmers or maybe your favourite clothing outlet, would it tempt you to get braided?

Get chatting below, and you never know, a Braid Bar could be popping up near you in the future!

I love it - I'd love long hair and a hairdresser. The braided styles on 'Reign' are to die for!!!

Llove the look, but only on Game of Thrones. I would not pay to have it in my hair

I love braids but the most complicated braid I can do is a normal 3 plait hahaha. I think it's a really cool idea but I think braids should be priced according to the complexity of each braid... I wouldn't want to pay $20 for something that will only; let's face it...last a day

I am the 'braid bar'! I love braiding hair and creating unusual styles. I wouldn't pay to get braided because it's something I can do myself, but perhaps I can set one up ;)

I would, I'm just not talented enough to braid areas i cant see and $20 to look good for a day isn't so bad. I wouldn't do it daily but I'd definitely do it for a special occasion or if the big bosses were coming into work.

I'd definitely be tempted to get my hair braided. I think it looks really pretty!

I love braids and plaits. But I love doing them myself as I think its fun to learn. I don't do anything complex though, just fishtails and French plaits.

This is such a cool idea! I always loved braids but felt I kind of outgrew them. I love doing braids but I don't have the patients to get them perfect, especially on myself! I would definitely use a braid bar, it would be super handy next to a make up counter so you can get your hair and make up done at the same place before a night out!

$20 for a professional to come and braid my hair and look like a pretty? I'm in! Where do I sign up!?!? I love it when my fiance and my hair dressers play with my hair haha

Oh yes, yes yes. I would. I have really long hair and when it's summer it's like a blanket, too hot. I braid mine to the side but it's not professional like the bottom three looks.

It would be great for an event or special occasion too. Tad pricy for one day though, I would imagine it would be a bit messy the next day after sleeping on it.

That is so cool!! I need to practice more...just getting the hang of doing a french braid but they are always crooked :( id definitely love to go to a braid bar. Special occasions and treats though for sure!!!

I would love to see my daughter hair braided (properly) but my own hair is only just long enough to tie back so not much room for braid play :/ Does sound like a nice idea but not overly practical or cost effective

Great idea , not sure I'd use it tho, way too lazy when it comes to styling my hair, its a ponytail for me .

I'm so lucky I don't have to pay, I have a very talented 12yr old who braids her older sisters hair all the time experimenting with different styles, some of them look really awesome, I on the other hand have no patience lol

I really like the idea of a Braid Bar. I would defiantly go and get my hair braided at least a few times a month. I love braids but have never been able to do them my self.
