Ranks right up there with high end brands

I was lucky enough to be given this product to trial. I like wearing eyeliner. Nothing says 1950s style like a black wing on the eyes. I have tried a few different brands and types of eyeliner over the years, and in various colours, with varying degrees of success.

This eyeliner comes in a blister packet mounted on cardboard, which is fairly standard packaging for Maybelline. The product has a hexagonal shaped pen for easy gripping, and a flexible brush. On the packet it promises “smooth even lines, resists skips and gaps.” The pen itself is completely black with the Maybelline branding in a pink stripe down one of the pen’s six sides. The cap is very stiff, however, and it was a bit tricky to pull off and put back on.

The liner goes on really well. The tip is very flexible, as promised, allowing you to draw very close to the lash line. It also dries extremely fast. Although there was a little bleeding at the inner corner on one eye when I first applied it, the liner dries so fast that there is not much time for it to smudge or bleed beyond that. The liner stayed thick and black without cracking or smudging during the day. It stayed put extremely well even though it is not waterproof. When it came time to remove the liner, it did not come off that easily. I was able to use micellar water to take it off, but I did need to work it over my eye several times in order to completely remove the liner.

Altogether I think this liner is very satisfactory. It is easy to apply, performs well, and does not crack or smudge. I think it ranks right up there with liners produced by higher end brands and that it is a great, affordable alternative to them.

Tips: The cap is very stiff, so make sure that you have actually clicked it back into place when you put it back on the pen.

Not bad, not bad at all

I don't typically use a liquid eyeliner so I wasn't too sure how I would go. Well this product was just too easy. First of all, having a hexagonal grip is the best idea. I felt I was in full control with no chance of it slipping. It lived up to it's promise of a smooth glide and the brush tip has no stray hairs that can cause such chaos. I was able to do the perfect line and it didn't smudge. It is very black which I wouldn't usually use, but I did like it. It lasted all day and even though it's waterproof, it came off easier than I expected. When shaken, you can hear there are little beads in it. One thing I didn't like is if you don't click the lid on properly, it pops off completely. The disadvantage of this (as I found out after the first day of my trial) is that the product dries out. I hoped that with a good shake it would come right but sadly this wasn't the case. Overall, I liked the product and would use it again, but take much more care with the lid!

Tips: Make sure you put the lid on properly otherwise it dries up.

Hyper Easy

The title does not lie. Its is so easy to apply even a first time makeup user will look like a pro. I don’t usually use a liner for the top lid and must have been confused when I put my hand up for this trial but nevermind I took on the challenge! So here goes... Packaging is classic Maybelline looking. Colour is pitch black (and it is so highly pigmented it looks like a sharpie!) I really loved the hexigon shape of this liquid pen - so easy to distinguish when rummaging in your makeup drawer! So first use was a bit nervous - it was an at home day so minimal contact with the outside world if it didnt go well lol the tip looked super fine..but they all do until you use it.. But it really was! I was uber conservative and went for the finest application I could achieve - SUCCESS! So easy! Loved it. Wear thoughout the day was okay..I used sunscreen and I think some of it mixed with the liner so got the transfer line above my eyelid crease. Wasnt thrilled with that. Second day was much better, clean face just a little liner - loved the discreet look of it. No transfer and wore well. Following day was a rainy errand day. Did my usual makeup routine and added the liner..halfway through the morning checked my makeup and the liner had transffered again. It does not hold well with moisture. Much of the following trial days were much the same with mixed results..I noticed the days I wore less cream/sunscreen/makeup it held better. Overall I actually really enjoyed trialling this and would recommend it to someone that I think it would work for. For example I would recommend it to my teenage daughter because she’s new to makeup and doesnt wear anything other than a moisturizer sometimes.

Tips: Be careful what you put it over and stay out of the rain!

Fantastic performer

It took me many years to finally master the eyeliner wing and I trialled a number of felt tip liners before settling on my current 'go to'. Well.. Who knew I needed this hexagonal beauty in my life. It really does what it proclaims to do and performed beyond my expectations. The shape provides a more secure grip and the pen glides over the lid with ease, making it simple to produce a wing in one stroke. The colour is intense, although I did have to do a second coat on some days. It dries quickly so there was no transfer of product to my upper eyelid area. It has a magnificient staying power- it did not shift, run or smudge; my maximim wearing time being 14 hours. Removal did take a bit longer but entirely worth it for the longevity and intense colour. I absolutely love this eyeliner and will definitely purchase it again. It is so much cheaper than my current eyeliner (by almost 50%) and seriously out performs it.

Tips: Give it a good shake before application.

Fine tip eyeliner. Great for all eye shapes

I usually shy away from liquid liner and doing a winged look as I’m not very steady with my hands. But the fine tip on this eyeliner was really helpful as it gave me more room to fix this a build up thickness.

This eyeliner does dry matte and doesn’t smudge! It lives up to that. I have slightly hooded eyelids and it didn’t transfer at all. But I wouldn’t say the colour is intense. It does take a little bit to get it dark black. I don’t mind that as I prefer a more subtle look.

I would say this is great for people who aren’t confident with applying liquid eyeliner.

Tips: Be very careful putting the lid on. If you knock/damage the bristles it’s very difficult to reshape the tip and will make the product Not work as well

I’m really enjoying this

Thanks to Beauty review for sending me this to review.

First impressions of this product are really good. It has a slimline octagonal barrel with nice font and detailing. The cap is lightly sprung, so gives a little feedback when replacing. It has a brush tip which is really finely pointed, and gives a good, smooth application.

This product has a really good, opaque black from one swipe, and gives a really precise line and wing. I didn’t find that it skipped on my lids (which are a little loose and prone to skipping at the lash line). This is a pretty smudge-proof loner once dry (which doesn’t take long!), but it comes off reasonably well with micellar water or my evening double cleanse.

I didn’t find it the easiest to do a more dramatic, filled in wing, as the brush was a little too fine for me to do this easily, and it will be interesting to see how the brush holds its shape after use, and whether I do my usual trick of wrecking it on the cap when I’m in a rush!

Overall, it depends on the retail price-point, but I’d definitely buy again for a daily wear liner.

Perfect....

The feel and weight of this eye liner is great, not to heavy, but not a light weight either. The hex shape also assists holding the eye liner.

The eye liner seems to glide on effortlessly. The tip starts narrow and widens so you can use to your advantage. The tip is a great texture as well, it isn’t too soft that it folds over, nor to hard.

When applying, I occasionally smudged due to blinking too quickly, but generally the eyeliner applied nicely and product stayed on my eyelids all day.

My eyeliner has stayed moist and not dried up at all, so felt like new every time I applied.

Tips: If your application isn’t smooth, just wipe along the eyeliner line with a cotton bud with make up remover - blends beautifully

I'm a convert

Ok, so I'm seriously impressed with Maybelline's Hyper Easy Liquid Eyeliner. I've tried countless brands and types of eyeliner over the years (I love eyeliner:)), and I always, always return to my absolute favourite, Revlon's Colorstay Liquid Eyeliner. But I think I've just been converted. The Hyper Easy liner is simply amazing. First off, the applicator tip is brilliant. It's quite firm overall, which is great for perfect control, but the very end of it forms a sort of soft, dense-brush point that means I barely feel it on my skin, yet it applies the colour beautifully. It's fine enough to allow for a clean, elegant line along the lashline, or you can just add a few more strokes to simply and quickly create great flicks or cats eyes. Secondly, the product itself is great; the consistency is like a light cream, I'd say, so not too thick and not too runny. You get this smooth, creamy, even application every time. The pigment is very dense and dark too, so one pass is enough (great for busy mornings), and there's no shine or sparkle. A lot of eyeliners make my eyes sting, and I've had no issues with this formula at all. It feels gentle and light on. And on me (I have dry skin and don't wear lid primer) it lasts well. One night I did the 'going-to-bed-without-cleaning-off-my-eyeliner' test, and the next morning the liner still looked perfect, with just maybe a hint of shadow transferred to my lower lids. It didn't budge when I washed my face in the evening either, so it seems somewhat water-resistant, but I found it quick and simple to remove with a cotton bud dipped in Micellar; no rubbing required. (I tried using just a water-moistened cotton bud too, which did remove it, but only after some rubbing back and forth, which I don't like to do.) Just a note: If you rub your eyes a lot during the day, the Hyper Easy will come off, so its longevity isn't as impressive as the Revlon Colorstay. However, after a full day of wear, I have noticed that my Revlon can start to get tiny flakes of product coming off, making the clean line look a little crumbly at the edges, whereas the Maybelline seems to retain its creamy, smooth finish – as long as you don't rub at your eyes! Re packaging, the pen is hexagonal, which doesn't make much difference to me in terms of use, but I do like that it doesn't roll away when I put it down on the vanity top. The lid needs a solid push to click it closed, but that's probably a good thing, ensuring a good seal. It's also a close fit around the tip, so you do need to take a bit of care to centre the tip as you put the lid on so you don't damage the tip. I don't know how long the pen will last, having used it for just 10 days, and this would be my one concern; I've used liquid pens before and they seemed to run out quite quickly compared to the dip-pot type ones. But the price is reasonable ($15-$18) and given all the positives, I will definitely be buying this from now on. Sorry, Revlon!

Tips: When applying the liner, I have a moistened cotton bud ready in case of slip-ups, as it's easy to whip away uneven edges or flicks before the liner dries fully. No makeup remover required!

Easy alright!

The flex tip on this eyeliner is definitely my favorite part of the product, it glides on so nicely! The liquid itself is really pigment and goes on smoothly too. I didn't have any issues with smudging or with the product wearing off during the day, so it was definitely long lasting in my opinion. I liked how dark the eyeliner was which meant I didn't need to go over multiple times as I have with other products.

I did find the cap a little hard to take off at first, but after a couple of times pulling it off it seemed to become a bit smoother. I liked the shape of the casing as it was nice and easy to grip. The packaging is nice and sleek so would make it great for travelling with.

Maybelline Hyper Easy Liquid Eyeliner

Thankyou BR for allowing me to trial this product.

I am yet to have success with liquid eyeliners untill this arrives on my doorstep.

It looks alittle like a felt tip pen. Sleek black and metallic purple packaging.

Simply take off the lid, shake eyeliner pen and apply. Now I have slightly shaky hands and struggled the first time as I'm not used to liquid eyeliner but with practice comes straight lines.

What I love about this product is that it is jet black and lasted all day long and into the night. It really made my eyes stand out more compared to pencil eyeliners. It doesn't bleed either which is important.

I am definitely going to prushase and thankyou so much!

Would highly recommend.

Tips: Give it a shake before usage as it has a ball inside.
