L'Oréal Paris ELVIVE Smooth Intense Shampoo Review

Thanks BR for sending me this product to try and review. Ive been using it for the past week and i can notice the smoothness that my hair doesnt seem to usually have. A lot of supermarket bought s&c's usually leave my hair feeling heavy but my hair feels light and fresh. and it smells yummy :) would definatly use again :)

I have enjoyed using this product and although it doesn't 'tame the frizz' quite as I would have liked it does make it easier to straighten my hair compared with other hair care products I have used. My hair feels soft and looks shiny after washing, drying and straightening and the straightening efforts seems to last longer. I would definitely recommend this product for the way it makes my hair look and feel but not as a smooth intense option.

Whenever supermarket brand hair products claim to make a noticeable change to your hair, I'm usually pretty skeptical. However, I was pleasantly surprised with this product. It's in your standard Elvive bottle; basic (but not unattractive) packaging with a simple pop top, rather than the annoying pop up lids that make it difficult to get the last of the product out. It doesn't have a strong fragrance, the best word to describe its smell would be 'clean'... which is also the best way to describe what it does to your hair! This product refreshed my hair without drying it out, and seemed gentle enough to use daily (though I usually only wash my hair every few days). I didn't notice any increase in shine (my hair is naturally fairly shiny anyway) but I definitely noticed that my hair was a lot smoother after using this product! After blow-drying my hair I usually have a lot of unwanted volume and frizz, and have to use a serum or straightener to get it really sleek. After using this product, I felt like my hair was ready to go after just being blow dried, which saves me a lot of time getting ready in the mornings. Of all of the supermarket brand hair products I've tried, this one is probably the product that I'd most likely buy again, as I definitely noticed a difference in my hair after using it. I would recommend it to girls with frizzy hair, or who spend a lot of time styling their hair (especially with heat).

I have in the past tried many "frizz free" shampoo's that have let me down. With L'Oréal Paris ELVIVE Smooth Intense I instantly noticed a difference. When drying my hair it felt so much softer and I didn't have half as many tangles as I usually find. My hair on the day of washing looked a lot more tame however the day after not so much. Was really impressed with this product for my wavy hair and will definitely be purchasing it again :)

Ok, So i have had the shampoo for a get week and a half now. (i was also lucky enough to try the conditioner and serum). The bottle sit nicely in my shower rack ad the are slim. They smell ok, only because i'm not a fan of the argan oil smell. I really liked that it was a nice thick consistency but i found i had bubbles everywhere. However i did feel nice and clean.

As far as a shampoo goes, this ticks all the boxes.

The design of the bottle makes it user-friendly, I like that you can see how much product is remaining. The shampoo itself is a thinner consistency, so it's easy to squeeze out.

It foams really, really well. If you don't feel your hair is 'clean' unless you've created a mountain of suds, then you'll love this. The scent is soft and refreshing.

I like the feel of my hair immediately, from the moment I rinse this out. It feels silky straight away. I do feel that my hair is a lot smoother and tamer for using this.

This shampoo leaves your hair looking really shiny and it feels amazing when you run your fingers through it. But for some reason it becomes very difficult to style after it's dry. It is so smooth and light that if you don't make sure it's sitting right when it dries then it could end up sitting in a really strange way and staying that way, eg side fringe covering your whole face because it's so smooth it just hangs in front of your face. It's also very difficult to put it in an updo until at least the day after, because the hair just slides out. Not that this is a bad problem to have, it's just because it makes the hair so shiny and smooth. But I once washed it and slept on it while damp, and it dried in the strangest angles, not to mention the time it all frizzed up because I wore a wig over it while it was damp (not a good idea in general though).

The scent is really nice on your hair, but when you first squeeze it out of the bottle it has a slight chemical scent to it. It also doesn't help that the shampoo is a bright yellow, which makes you think of detergent.

But other than those things, it makes my hair feel shiny and light, and when I let it dry naturally it sits beautifully, so I would definitely buy it again.

Hey girlies! This is the Elvive shampoo I got from BR for the review. So I thought I would do a bit “technical and to the point” with this review rather than my typical yarda yarda. I used the BR review tips article as a foundation to write this. God bless the lady who wrote it as it helps heaps when it comes to write a proper and informative review.

So here goes.

Consistency - This is a transparent shampoo is not so thick or so watery. In my opinion it’s just right.

Application and coverage - It is very easy to apply. I have long, coarse and thick hair, so usually I use a palmful of product. This shampoo lathers up well and cleans the hair very thoroughly. I never had to shampoo twice with this.

Fragrance - Fragrance of this shampoo is my favourite thing about it. It’s very pleasant and lasting, even after couple of days.

Usage and longevity - I tested this using this regularly for a week. Then, once every other day for another week. I also left my hair unwashed for three days and then used this. I still have about 1/3 of shampoo left. I tend to use a bit more product than a regular human being and it’ll still lasts me for about 1-2 months. :)

Price - Pretty cheap compared to other products. I saw this for $3 something on Pack N Save the other day.

Packaging - This has a very nice packaging as you can see in the picture. I love the fact that the body of the bottle is see through as I can see correctly how much I have used or left of the product. It also has a tight cap that closed up properly. I even dropped it on the tile floor, and it didn't break off. :D

Results - I tried to use this shampoo as much as possible within the time period I had and in different ways. What I found out is that, washing hair with this on a regular basis is a bit too harsh for my hair. As I said earlier, this shampoo is quite strong and has a tendency to dry out my hair on its own. I definitely need to use the conditioner with this. I sometimes had to condition my hair twice to get it to be silkier. I also found out that I can go up to 3 days without washing my hair after I wash it with this shampoo and my roots don’t get oily. And lastly, even with very dirty and oily hair, only a single wash with this shampoo is enough to thoroughly clean my hair. For me personally, this shampoo works best if I use it every other day with the conditioner. And it tends to make my hair more thick as I noticed. It also lessen the frizzy effect my hair has to a point. It’s still winter so my hair tends to go a little crazy with the added moisture in the air. But I think in the summer time this shampoo will flawlessly take care of the frizz.

I have been using this product for a couple of weeks and it has basically done what its supposed to, its smoothed my hair and leaves my hair feeling lovely and clean with a beautiful smell. Over all i am quite pleased with how my hair turned out after blow waving and straightening my hair, it wouldn't be my first choice of a shampoo but it's definitely far from the worst.

Great feel to my hair after use. lasted a couple of days as advertised. Great to have clear bottle verses cream bottle to easily tell the diference between shampoo and conditioner. Trialed it on my grandaughters hair which is long and curly but difficult to manage she now likes to come to nana's for her special shampoo as her hair is softer and easier to comb after using it.
