Good product but not great

I hate to say I don't absolutely love this product as I know it is adored by many! I do like it but I have other eye primers that do help my eyeshadows stay longer. I do have quite oily eyelids so find that my eyeshadows do still crease (only a little) with this product. It is a great colour and I really like the consistency, but I reach for my others more (one being the essence I heart stage primer which is soooo affordable!)

UDPP

I've had this eyeshadow primer for a good few months now, and I do feel that it was worth the spend. However, I won't necessarily repurchase once I've run out (at least straightaway), as it still wasn't entirely perfect, and there are other primers I'd like to try as well.

The Good:

-Easy-to-use packaging. The squeezy tube is much easier to control than many other options, in my opinion, and it shouldn't be hard to get every last bit out once I finally run out.

-Creamy formula. It's easy to blend out on the lid (although it is quite a bit thicker than I had originally anticipated), and a little goes a loooooong way.

-Definitely makes shadows more vibrant. This works great with UD shadows (I have the Naked2 palette), but also with a few cheaper options that I use sometimes. It's nice to be able to use them and have them look just as pigmented and good-quality as a higher-end shadow, thanks to this primer.

-Prevents creasing/prolongs shadow wear. I have slightly hooded eyelids, and I basically *always* experience a bit of creasing because of that. However, this definitely puts a stop to that (at least for a while), and I do find that my eye makeup lasts for a considerably longer time than it used to without this.

The Not-So-Good:

-While this does prevent creasing, on me it doesn't stop it entirely after some time has passed. I personally am not bothered by this that much, as I still get at least 6 hours wear before creasing happens, but it is something to be aware of, particularly if you have very oily eyelids (mine are more normal/dry, I just get creasing because of my hooded eyelids).

-This is relatively expensive. However, as I said above, a little goes a long way, so I think that it is worth it, given how long it will last. Mine is in no way showing signs of running out at all, and I've used it a fair bit in since I got it.

That's it, really. I am pleased that I got it, and don't regret it at all, but because it doesn't *completely* eliminate the chance of creasing, I probably will try a different brand (I'm keen to try either the Two-Faced or NARS one) before I rush out and repurchase. The Elf one has had a lot of good reviews too, so I might investigate that option also.

The Perfect Potion

Before you use a good eyeshadow primer, its easy to question if you really need one (or thats what i thought anyway). My eyeshadow seemed to last most the day. Yes it would fade slightly, but that was normal. Or so i thought.

I picked up this product when beauty.com was having a 20% sale and that was something i really could not resist.

This eye primer comes in a small plastic tube, and on the lid there is a jewel shaped dome. Honestly, i hate this dome. I think it looks really tacky, but that's just a personal opinion and its whats on the inside that counts anyway.

Attached to the jewel lid is a wand with a doe foot applicator which was something that I wasn't expecting. I actually love this, because it makes application a breeze, and lets you put primer exactly where you need it.

The primer is a peachy colour, and has a thinish consistency. I believe it suits all skintones because it blends in seamlessly, and if can be worn on my skin tone, I'm sure it will be fine on everyone.

Now the big question. Does it work? Yes, yes and yes. It makes my eyeshadows bright and they last all day. My eye shadow looks as good when i get home, as it did when i left the house. This primer is a game changer and puts all my other eye primers to shame. If you love your eyeshadow, you need this in your life.

Changed my eyeshadow wearing life

I have semi-hooded eyelids, which means that before I discovered this primer my eyeshadow tended to rub off very quickly so I rarely bothered using it. I got a sample of it and it quickly became a permanent addition to my make up routine. I only need to apply a small amount and it makes a massive difference. My eye make up will still look perfect after 12-15 hours, which is great for a busy woman like me. I have only tried the original formula, but the tinted shades look like they could be an interesting multi-tasking product.

Tips: Put a small dot of it on your finger and apply to the lids. Don't use too much as it may get too greasy and do the opposite of what you're intending to achieve.

Eden and Sin!

I have two travel sized primer potions in Eden and Sin. And to my surprise they have lasted me a very long time.

Eden is a skin/champagne-ish colored primer potion that has a matte finish. I can say this is my go to eye shadow primer. It goes with everything and keeps your eye shadow in place. I have very creasey lids and this makes sure my eye shadow stayed creaseless, even with cream shadows.

Sin is a shimmery champagne color with a hint of rose gold in it. Now this is a love-hate product for me. While it is really good as a base for your shimmer shadows, like the ones in Naked 3 and it has the same properties as Eden, it is a mess to use.

It is ridiculously pigmented and you only need a tiny amount less then a millimeter for both eyes, otherwise you will have it everywhere! And due to it being very pigmented, it is also very hard to blend because it dries really fast.

UD Primer Potion

This is my one and only eye primer I've ever used so I don't exactly know how it compares to others! It works for me well so I can't complain! I first tried a sample years ago when I brought my Naked palette, I then brought a full size which is 11ml. It's lasting me forever! I only need a tiny amount. It definitely pro longs my shadows and prevents them from creasing. I have the original formula which is a light creamy colour that once blended isn't very noticeable. It's on a squeeze tube with a very small nozzle so squeezes a small amount out which is great.

A primer for every occasion

I got a sample of these when I got the Naked3 palette and oh my goodness are they awesome!

Not only does a little go a long, long way (the samples I got were quite small but that was almost two months ago and none of them have dried up or been completely used), but they hold eyeshadow like no other!

Their original formula is still my favourite by far, it's ideal for every occasion but I really like that they have a variety.

The consistency is the same for all of them. The ones with a shimmer are fantastic for eyeshadows that have a similar shimmer in them, just makes them pack more punch.

I still find though that I need to keep my eyelids closed for about a half a minute to let the primer dry (damn those hooded lids!) but once they're dry, they ain't going nowhere!

I do find that the UD eyeshadows stick a lot better (coincidence?) than my other eyeshadows I put on top.

Tips: The primers with a shimmer (from memory they're Eden and Sin), they are ideal for shimmer eyeshadows, they make your look so much more effective.

Impressive

This is the first eyelid primer I have ever used and I have been very impressed. As a primer for eyeshadows I find it really does make them look better and last longer. The colors are intensified and smooth over the lid, and can last all day or a whole night dancing. I have also recently discovered a new way of using it that has blown my mind, I have oily eyelids and I have forever had a problem with my mascara transferring for the tips of my lashes to below my brows, I thought I just couldn't do anything about it and would always be wiping at my eyes just in case. Last week I thought I would try putting some of the primer potion over my lids without shadow to keep them matte and it totally worked! I've done it everyday since and had no mascara transferring at all so I am very impressed.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

I purchased the Urban Decay Eye shadow Primer Potion in Eden to use as a base and help my eye shadow last longer.

The texture of this product took some getting used to as it is a very fine film, rather than a heavy cream. However, this allowed me to evenly spread it over the eyelid without dragging the delicate skin.

I really like this primer because it gives my glitter eye shadows a base to adhere to. It also makes the colour of pastel and lighter brown shades really pop.

Tips: After applying the primer, give it a couple of minutes to set before applying eye shadow.

Best Eye Primer For Oily Lids

I have annoying oily eyelids and a love for eyeshadow so before I knew anything about eye primer it was always so frustrating putting on nice eyeshadow just for it to get ruined within an hour. This primer has actually changed my life. I've tried a couple others and found that it just didn't help my eyeshadow stick. As well as preventing any creasing it makes my colours pop. I only just the original one so it fades away as it dries. While the tube may look small you don't need much to cover your eyelid. This is one primer I know I will be purchasing again and again
