Rosehip oil

A tiny tincture dropper in a brown colored bottle. The consistency is oily, of course. Not slippery like baby oil. A combo of dry/wet oil, it doesn't totally absorb into the skin and though I didn't use it with my makeup I kept it nighttime use it felt as if my makeup would slide off. The ingredients have great healing properties. However I didn't get any of the results I have a huge scar on my right eyelid and more on my left half of my face from a childhood accident and these didn't lighten or disappear in anyway. But to be fair nothing has helped reduce my facial scars,(haven't tried further surgery but 1 day love plastic surgery) these scars are perfect examples for any product claiming to improve or change the appearance of. In turn still believe in the product with its ingredients and over time if used longer there may be signs of scar reduction. The oil smells like wheat germ to me which is good for skin and hair. Helps with elasticity.

Tips: Purchase the trial pack from supermarket a budget friendly way to introduce your skin to the skincare range.

Essano Rosehip Oil

This is a really nice gentle face oil. I think that it did help with some redness on my skin. I didn't really find it all that moisturising though. I had to use a fair amount to feel that my skin had been moisturised. It is kind of an average product for me. Also I think it does help a bit with scars though if you keep up with putting it on them at least every night.

Not for me

I thought I would tak a break from my super expensy trilogy face oil and see how this compared. (It's over half the price)! Sadly, I found it didn't absorb well and left my skin feeling greasy and coated. Also the scent was overpowering and not in the least light. I wouldn't purchase again

Pretty meh...

The first thing I noticed upon application is the smell! What is that smell?? It's almost a woody/smokey scent. I've used other lines of rosehip oil and they do not smell like that. The smell does go away after a while but I have to hold my breath on application. That aside, this is nice enough but I just don't find it works as well with smoothing complexion and taking away any dryness, as compared with other lines I have tried... It doesn't absorb very well, but I use it at night only. I would use it up but I probably wouldn't repurchase this and I do favor Trilogy's rosehip oil.

Ho Hum

I received a generous sample of this (along with the moisturiser) a couple of months ago and decided to give it a go... I have VERY dry skin/eczema which means I am always very hesitant to put anything on my face - I react to almost everything (including all natural products). I was pleasantly surprised that my skin seemed to tolerate this okay. As far as smell goes, there wasn't much of one, just a faint oil smell (like cooking oil I suppose). I applied at night mostly to the uneven, wrinkly and dry patches around my eyes and mouth. At the time it left my skin feeling nice and hydrated but it would always go back to looking/feeling dry by morning. I imagine if I had normal skin or skin that is easily irritated this could be a great product but speaking from the dry camp it really didn't do a heck of a lot and I gave it a good 2 week trial run.

Something Fishy?

I'd never used Rosehip Oil before, so Essano Rosehip Oil was my first and to be honest, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. When I thought of Rosehip Oil, I thought of something pleasant-smelling and possibly rose-scented ... I understand that this is apparently a very common misconception!

Having no idea of what to expect, I thought that maybe there was something wrong with the bottle that I'd bought and that I’d received old stock past its expiry date and ended up with rancid oil. But, this was not so! After a bit of research, I found out that the smell of Rosehip Oil varies from person to person depending on your nose. To some people it has a warm, earthly smell, while to others it can smell quite fishy.

Unfortunately, I am one of those who fall into the "fishy" category. I had already massaged a few drops onto my face after showering and had applied my moisturiser on top, per the instructions on the bottle. Initially I didn't think too much of the smell, washed my hands and went to relax for a while before going to bed. Every now and then I got a whiff of this strong fishy smell. I hunted all over for the source of the smell; looking in the kitchen, sniffing the air outside thinking that maybe one of our neighbours was cooking fish, even checking the cat’s food bowl to see if I’d forgotten to wash it, but I couldn't find the source! An hour went by and I could still smell it! It was only then that I wondered if it could be the Rosehip Oil and went to sniff the bottle.

After that experience, I only applied the oil directly before going to bed and didn't reapply it in the morning! The smell aside, it did leave my skin feeling soft, nourished and hydrated. It was easily absorbed without leaving a greasy residue. Even though I do have oily skin, it is often a little dehydrated and by applying my moisturiser on top of the oil, it assisted in helping my skin to absorb and retain more of the nourishing and moisturising properties (oil needs water to be absorbed into the skin and most moisturisers are water based).

Tips: If you are worried about how Rosehip Oil will smell to you, ask to smell a tester bottle before you decide to make your purchase. If you'd like to use this oil anyway and it smells a little fishy to you, apply it (along with your moisturiser) right before you go to bed, that way it'll work its magic while you're sleeping and you don't have to smell it for very long.

Not as good as other brands

I'm not sure I actually really like this rosehip oil. I have used many brands in the past and this is my least favourite. I find that it just sits on my skin and doesn't actually go in very well. I have very dry sensitive skin and I find this can make it quite oily, which is not an easy thing to do for my skin. However it is very gentle and doesn't react with my skin which is a bonus. Due to the oiliness I have only been using this at night, but my skin is back to being dry in the morning.

Oh and I also really do not like smell!

Not Impressed, Sadly

I wish so badly that I could write a good review for this product! I've heard SO many stories about how rosehip oil is a miracle product and has saved so many women from issues ranging from wrinkles to acne scarring and everything in between. Well, I've gone through a whole bottle of the stuff and noticed zero difference in my sensitive-combination skin. It provided my skin with a good amount of moisture after cleansing, but other than that I saw no improvements in terms of my skin's redness, scarring, etc. The results I've had from this product have been the same as I'd get from any cheap moisturiser. Going back to my favourite moisturiser, Celestial by Lush, instead.

Nice to try but not completely sold

I purchased this to try as a treat for my skin before bed. I could have just been a placebo but when I would wake up in the morning I felt like my skin did look plumper and more moisturised. However I don't agree that it's non-greasy or quickly absorbed...it would sit on my skin for a long time so watch you don't end up with it all over your pillow. It's a good oil for its price, but personally I don't think my combination skin needed quite so much oil, and I also couldn't stand the smell. I switched to a Glow Lab night cream after this instead and am much happier with its performance.

facial oil

It has a pleasant scent, but for me specifically I felt like it had no affect on my skin. I didn’t notice any difference, as I had purchased this product as it was on sale and said it could help with an uneven skin tone. As a brown girl I have a lot of hyperpigmentation and discolouration on my face and I didn’t notice much difference. however it did leave my skin looking plump, so maybe a good product for anyone looking for just a hydrating regular facial oil, but I would not recommend to treat for discolouration.
