High sunscreen rating but not for dry skin

With an SPF30 rating, natural ingredients and a good portable tube package, this may be a very good summer moisturiser. It is slightly thicker than some moisturisers, almost more like sunscreen in consistency, but it applies smoothly and sits well under make up. A small amount will cover the face and neck meaning the 75ml tube will last well. This makes it good value and the packaging, while not fancy is ideal for travelling.

While not as bad as the cleanser from this range, the scent of honey and orange may be too strong for some people. Also this is not a very emollient moisturiser and never provided enough moisture to stop my dry/sensitive skin feeling tight.

This was a product I wanted to love as it would make a perfect swim bag standby with the sunscreen and packaging but it just didn't work for my skin

Tips: A great swim/picnic bag addition if you don't have dry skin. Sits well under make up so can also be used as an every day moisturiser

Seriously soothing

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this moisturiser. I love that it's SPF30, and it did wonders to calm the redness of my skin, but it's also not very nice smelling and incredibly sticky when you first apply it.

The packaging is nice enough, but fairly utilitarian - I would have liked something a bit more pretty like the face wash, or even the toner. That said, it was good and sturdy and survived travel with no leaks.

The scent isn't particularly nice, a fairly cloying, sticky sweet honey smell. But I don't like scents on my face at all, so it would probably be fine for those who don't mind.

It does seem to be incredibly soothing, though - I have a lot of red pigmentation on my face despite mostly being a yellow toned girl, so I usually use a light covering of concealer on lots of my face to even out the redness. While using this moisturiser, I found that the redness was reduced enough that I used about 1/3 less concealer compared to normal, so that was a definite bonus.

It is really, really sticky when you first apply it - applying it was incredibly smeary and took a little bit of gentle elbow grease, and then once it was worked into the skin it felt heavy, greasy, and so very sticky. At first I was tempted to just wash it off and never use it again, but I let it sit for a bit and fortunately it does settle in beautifully. It was nicely nourishing and I didn't find that my skin would get greasy, although I am fairly dry skinned.

I'll continue using this, and if my skin is noticeably more red when I stop using it I'll probably rebuy it.

Tips: If you use the toner from this range before the moisturiser it can be even more sticky and smeary - if you have trouble massaging it into your skin, try patting it in instead.

Love and hate relationship

Wild fern Manuka honey moisturiser was part of skincare regime which was I got trial for it. Thank you beautyreviews. I have love and hate relationship for this moisturiser.

I adore this kind of packaging because it's so handy from my point of views. Moisturiser comes in upside down small tube so it very good and my personally favourite so I can throw in my bag, very handy during traveling.

Brand claims this is hydrating and protecting moisturiser I 100% agree with that. I have de hydrate, normal to combination skin type. Moisturiser has quite weight on it, I mean when I apply i can feel on skin. It is very thick, white and grainy type of cream. It is not smooth at all. I don't use daily because I feel like too heavy and does my pore looks large.

But still I liked it because (1) I can use when I wear matte foundation, give me super duper primer type of skin. (2) when I am going out and feel lazy to apply face moisturiser and spf (3) when I want dewy skin. Love it

Make sure you use tiny bit. Otherwise you feel so greasy. I am tan skin ( nc40/nc42 just reference) if I apply too much then gives me white cast. Do I repurchase ? Not sure

Tips: Apply tiny bit otherwise gives greasy feeling.

Ferns Manuka Honey Moisturiser

I was really excited to try this because I've heard great things about Manuka honey, so I had high expectations for this product. First off, the scent is leans towards slightly sweet so that may affect people who are sensitive to smells however I didn't have a problem with it.

I used about a pea sized amount of product and that covered my whole face. I found that it took a while for me to rub the moisturiser into my skin and to also absorb into my skin and during this time it felt quite greasy and also a bit rough on my skin. But once it had absorbed into my skin, it longer felt heavy or greasy. That was a big negative for me because the day moisturisers I normally use are very light and fast absorbing.

Once huge positive for me was that it has SPF in it which is so important in a moisturiser especially if you're outdoors a lot this summer.

I also noticed that this moisturiser is very deeply hydrating and it kept my skin hydrated the entire day.

Overall I think that this is a good moisturiser but there are definitely better ones out there.

A bit different...

I received this moisturiser as part of a trial team, thanks BR, and was keen to get them as I'd only seen them in souvenir shops. I hadn't ever really considered actually using them due to them not being in normal stores so was keen to give the product a go.

The product comes in a yellow tube with a white cap. It's quite a thick texture, probably due to the SPF content. When I was using it I found that it left my face a wee bit white and took a while to soak in so make sure you don't use too much.

What really got me with this moisturiser was that it felt grainy, like there were bits of sand in it. It felt more like an exfoliator than a moisturiser!. Eventually you don't notice the bumps and they disappear/disintegrate but it was such a weird feeling. I feel like moisturiser is a treat for your skin after a long, sometimes rough and harsh cleaning process but this wasn't relaxing at all!

Despite the strange grainy texture of the moisturiser it actually did a good job of hydrating my skin and leaving it feeling fresh.

I have one other small issue with the product and that's the smell, it's too strong for me.

All in all a good product that does a good job but will not be using again due to grainy texture! I was quite pleased to go back to my goodness moisturisers after trialing this, it just felt so much better!

A bit heavy for my skin type

Like the rest of ge range, I really like the smell of this moisturiser and the fact that I didn’t break out when I started using his really surprised me. Normally anything with spf breakouts me out when i first start using it until my skin gets use to it. However, I found his really heavy for my skin type and it made me look very greasy and shiny. Even on my non make up days, I had to use a translucent powder to set my face or I just looked like an oily mess. I will continue to use this until this is finished but will not repurchase due to the extra steps I need to take to keep my oils at bay, which is a shame because I like the fact that I didn’t break out. This is best suited for someone with normal to dry skin I would say.

Stange texture!

On paper, this moisturiser is everything I look for - suitable for dry skin, SPF 30, non greasy, NZ made and reasonable price...

Unfortunately I was really put off by the texture of the product. I found it to be grainy/gritty and it felt like I was exfoliating my skin rather than putting moisturiser on. The texture is the thing stopping me from using this moisturiser everyday. Maybe I was rubbing it into my skin too vigorously but I did feel like I had sort of micro cuts on my face from the gritty texture.

I also had to experiment with the amount of product I used as a little bit does go a long way. If you use too much you will end up a bit greasy despite the non-greasy formula claims. I would also recommend waiting a couple of minutes at least before putting makeup over this product so it can sink into the skin.

Tips: A little goes a long way! Apply a small amount but remember, if you use a small amount it may not provide enough SPF for use in direct, hot sun.

A lot going for it but just too thick

The Wild Ferns Manuka Honey Protective Hydrating Moisturiser with SPF30 has some good things going for it - is certainly non-greasy, moisturising, works well under makeup and is an easy way to achieve sun protection without changing your daily routine. The problem with it is that it's really thick with a similar consistency to sunblock which refuses to rub in! I hate having to force rub products into delicate facial skin so this moisturiser is sadly just not for me.

Tips: You only need a pea sized amount of this product.

Wild Ferns Manuka Honey Protective Hydrating Moist

This product was not suited to my skin type at all. The smell was not like anything I usually like either but you get used to it overtime. The creme itself felt nice on the skin, glided on easily. Left my face looking moisturised and left a glow which I don't particularly like because my skin gets oily easily. This happened regardless of how little I applied sadly. Nevertheless, I will say despite it not absorbing into my skin well, I still felt like my skin was being protected from the sun while I was out and I could feel my skin being tight but in a good way. As with the cleanser I feel like this product will be wonderful once the cooler seasons come in because even oily combination skin needs moisture and radiance during that time period.

Tips: Use extremely sparingly, will be handy once the cooler season set in!

Wild Ferns Manuka Honey Moisturiser

I have to admit that I tend to write off anything that comes from souvenir shops as a bit too pricey so really grateful that I got to trial these products. I like that it uses the natural healing properties of Manuka honey and incorporates that into the formula.

The moisturiser comes in a cute little bottle which I liked. It was much better than the toner and looks really smart. A great size and would be good for travelling as well.

The moisturiser has the same scent as the rest of the range which is one of the things I really don't like. It smells strong like artificial honey and put me off a lot. It didn't seem to disappear either and I kept getting whiffs of it throughout the day.

The moisturiser is far too thick for my needs. I have oily skin so don't feel comfortable putting on a moisturiser so thick. It made my whole face white that I almost had to wipe it off. It did manage to rub in but I felt like it left my face feeling thick and oily. The consistency was almost a bit gritty. Which didn't feel to great.

I love that it has spf 30 in it, but it actually felt like the consistency of a sunscreen.

During the day my face continued to feel extra oily/ I could feel the moisturiser sitting on my skin and smell it as well. Especially with the hot weather!

Maybe this would be better for someone who has very dry skin and not the combination to oily skin I have.

I will use the moisturiser again when I need thick sunscreen but this product is really not one of my faves!

Tips: A little goes a long way!
