Love it

I love this week mask! Its a shame it doesnt come in a bigger container! 50 mls just doesnt seem big enough!

I tried this beaut out with my girlfriends one weekend and we all had pleasant experiences.

It smells great, not over powering at all. It also went on like a dream, with fingers or a brush.

The product dries very quickly and you can definitely see the mask drawing out the impurities, especially around the t zone, I have used the product twice this week and am pleased with the effects. It definitely purifies the skin, all comments were in the vicinity of " my skin looks clearer and more evened out skin tone" . My skin felt smooth and calm afterwards as well.

I paired this up with the cream wash but it tends to dry your skin out a bit too much.

Would definitely re purchase this product it works so well.

Tips: Use once or twice a week and not on days you use the cream wash from the same range,

Good bits & bad bits

I have been terrible about looking after my skin lately, so this product arriving from BR was really good timing! Unfortunately, I'm in two minds about this product...

Good points: This product comes in a lovely heavy glass tub, that looks classy on the shelf. The mask is a lovely pale green colour on application, drying to an off-white. The mask was a good consistency, not too thick and easy to spread, and it washed off easily, leaving my skin feeling very clean.

Not so great points: The mask didn't come with anything for getting it out of the tub hygienically, so I had to dip my fingers in. The instructions said to leave it on my face for 10-15 minutes, but I found that unpleasant as the product had a very overpowering smell that ended up making me feel a little unwell.

Did it help my skin? I'm not sure. I was trying this product at the same time as trying the accompanying clay face wash, which dried my skin out, so I'm not sure to what extent this contributed to my skin getting a little too dry. Of course, the good thing about a mask is you can use it as little or as often as you need.

Finally, the price is a very affordable $25. As such, this may be a good option for people with oily skin who don't mind scented products. However, if you experience dryness or dislike fragrance, this is not the best product for you.

Tips: Take a spoon to the bathroom to get the mask out of the tub hygienically.

L'Oreal Paris Pure Clay Mask Purify & Mattify

The texture of the mask is nice and smooth so it’s easy to apply. You do not need too much to get a full coverage but definitely don’t be stingy around your problem areas like the t-zone. After using this product in conjunction with the ranges clay wash it does amplify the matte feeling of your skin but in a good way.

When the mask hardens it’s easy to wash away. Unlike like some masks where it takes forever to get it all off which can prove annoying.

It leaves your skin feeling incredibly smooth. However if you do have a breakout maybe don’t apply a much because it will sting a little or just apply around it.

Although it is supposed to help brighten your skin tone I didn’t notice it and I did use it 2 twice a week. I feel that if you’re committed to using this as a regime you’d reap the benefits. As someone with faded acne scars I’ll continue to use the mask every so often and hopefully notice a difference over time.

Overall I’d say it’s great for all skin types, just apply as much as you think you need but don’t over do it.

Tips: Don’t keep it on too long.

Good Mask For Oiliness

This mask has a really nice thick texture and has a slight strong scent but very natural smelling.

My skin slightly stings when I put this on, which I guess is the mask doing its magic. It takes about 10 minutes to set.

After rinsing off, skin feels very refreshed and clean with all the dirt and oil diminished.

I noticed all my pores were smaller and blackheads on my nose were almost invisible.

All week using this I had no excess oil during the day which I usually get which was amazing!

After a week my blemishes and imperfections did not reduce, but this may change after using for longer.

Tips: Use with the L'Oréal Purity Face Wash before using this mask for a great match.

Matt (ish)

I was lucky enough to score this product a few months back. The packaging is beautiful as most L'Oreal products are. The clay itself is creamy and soft, doesn't feel gritty at all. After applying it to my face I noticed very very fine specks of mineral, which surprisingly didn't scratch at all. The one thing that I was a little bit surprised about was the smell. It's not unpleasant, but definitely a distinct clay smell. I left the mask for about 15mins until I noticed cracking around my mouth. Washing it off I found was easier in the shower rather than just using a wet washcloth. It does leave your skin feeling toned and smooth. As for 'purified', I'm not sure, my skin didn't have any breakouts, and after using the mask it didn't cause any over the next few days. But, in regards to the 'mattifying' aspect, it's great for the first hour or so, then my t-zone was back to its slightly shiny self.

A Great Mask for Sensitive Skin

I love clay masks so much. They always seem to work really well on my skin (sensitive, prone to redness/some breakouts). The L'Oreal Paris Pure Clay Mask Purify & Mattify was great for my complexion, and I've really enjoyed trying it out.

Firstly I love the packaging. SO lux. The mask comes in a stylish glass pot, which makes you feel pampered immediately.

Secondly, the mask itself is lovely. It's a super pretty, pale green colour, and smells like a subtle mix between clay and fragrance. It applies super easily, and dries very quickly (5-10 minutes). After washing off the skin isn't left feeling overly dried out at all, but cleansed and refreshed.

I like to apply this mask at night time, then see the results in the morning. I find this more effective than using it in the morning, because I'm only going to put makeup on straight afterwards anyway that way. After using this mask at night time my skin seems clearer, and with a more even tone and texture in the morning.

My only hesitation here is that L'Oreal tests on animals, something which I don't want to support. So for that reason I won't be repurchasing this product myself. Other than that though a lovely mask that delivers good results! :)

L'Oréal Paris pure clay mask purify and mattify

To start off with my skin is generally quite oily around the t-zone and I have some minor scarring from past skin issues. I don't normally wear much makeup but a bb cream and use a exfoliating scrub and night cream.

This mask was quite frightening to put on! It was light creamy green when I applied, however it soon turned bright green and caused a hell of a shock to my partner!

It was light and easy to apply, I can see that it would become a bit difficult as you get to the bottom getting it out of the cracks of the square shaped container but it was easy at this stage.

I could see the mask absorbing all the oil from my skin. Particularly around my nose where it started to sting a little at the beginning but did a great job and felt nice and smooth afterwards!

The mask smells very fresh with the eucalyptus and feels nice and smooth and soft on the skin.

It is gently wiped off with a flannel and my face was fresh and clean.

It did make a pimple appear on my cheek which was strange but good to see that is works and gets the gunk out! (technical term!)

All in all I liked this mask and will use it again. Skin felt great afterwards and love the natural ingredients!

Tips: It would be worth trying out as a spot treatment too, it definitely works!

Pure Clay Mask, Purify & Mattify

Beauty Review sent me this mask as part of a recent trial team and I'm glad they did!

The packaging is nice and sleek. The jar itself even made me excited to try it. Once opening the lid there is a plastic "shield" to help keep the clay from drying out. The one thing that bothers me about the packaging is that the usage instructions are only on the box and not on the jar. Admittedly, face masks aren't rocket science but it would still be nice to have the reminder there for how long to leave it on my skin!

I applied the mask using an old foundation paddle brush and left it on for the prescribed 10-15 minutes. During that time it dried in most areas of my face, leaving it tight and rendering me unable to speak (again, normal for a mask). It had a lovely eucalyptus scent when applying it and was cooling but the scent dissipates quickly as it dries. I also loved that it was green as it reminded me of those 80's movies where someone would have a pamper night. Made my feel a tad retro and you can be sure that I snapchatted those selfies!

I set about rinsing it off with a face cloth and hot water but as it's a clay this was quite difficult as well. I got there in the end and was presented with bright, clear, smooth skin. I'm not 100% certain that all traces of clay were rinsed off so I plan to experiment more with using toner or other cleansers afterwards to remove traces of mask.

I use masks in the evening so I can't really attest to the mattifying claims, but I personally think it's worth it for the clarifying and brightening effects alone. I also plan on purchasing the other masks in this range.

Tips: Apply with a foundation paddle brush to get an even layer on the face while also keeping your hands clean (but be sure to rinse the brush before the clay dries!). If you want to keep the instructions just cut them from the side of the box and keep with the mask jar.

L'Oreal Pure Clay Mask Purify & Mattify - Review

I was lucky enough to be picked to trial this by BR, so thank you very much as always! I was super excited - I have oily combination skin and while I'm quite a big fan of the Skinfood New Zealand Mud Masque I'm always open to trying out other masks to find something that really works with my skin. You can find this mask at Farmers, The Warehouse, and supermarkets nationwide and it retails for $24.99 though I have seen it on sale a couple of times at The Warehouse so keep an eye out if you're keen to try this! It contains 50ml of product, and comes packaged in a hefty glass jar - I like the look of the packaging, but I feel like jars are less sanitary so I've marked this down by one star.

The product itself is a light green, almost mint colour, which is quite similar to the face wash, and it has the same strong eucalyptus scent which I personally enjoyed though if you are sensitive to smells you might want to give this a miss. It borders on overpowering, but I found I could tolerate it just fine. I applied a thin layer of this mask, and left it on for 15 minutes, after which the mask was dry and my face felt very tight which is typical of mud masks. I used a flannel and warm water to gently rinse it off, and found my face felt very smooth and refreshed. My skin also felt tighter, and less oily, though this didn't last for very long. I didn't notice that my pores looked any smaller sadly - this is one of the main things I love about the Skinfood New Zealand Mud Masque.

Overall, I did enjoy using this mask, but I'm not sure it could completely replace my favorite - the Skinfood New Zealand Mud Masque. My skin felt tighter and less oily for a while, however this didn't last more than a day, and it didn't seem to have much of a noticeable difference on the size of my pores. Also, if you don't like jar style product this won't be for you unless you use some sort of spatula to take out the product. I would recommend this mask, but just keep in mind the things above.

L'Oreal Paris Pure Clay Mask Purify and Mattify

I got this along with the face wash in a BR trial team.

This product comes in a glass jar with a screw top lid. It also has a white plastic shield thing inside to separate the product from the lid. I like this a lot as it makes the product feel a but more expensive.

The product itself is a thick green cream. You don't need a tonne of product as this does spread quiet easily, I recommend starting off with a small amount and applying more as needed. It does have a slight clay scent but you can't really smell this, and you can't smell it when its on your face.

After you have applied the product you are meant to let it sit for 15-20 minutes and then wash off with a damp face cloth. During this time it does dry on your face and makes your face quiet tight so if you don't like those kind of these face masks then this isn't for you.

The mask is easily removed with a damp face cloth, and leaves the skin feeling soft, clean and fresh. I really liked how my skin felt after using this mask, I think it did a great job helping with my oil, I do feel less oily the day after I use this mask. I would highly recommend this and I am also keen to try the other mask in this range, I will continue to use this and would consider purchasing it in the future.

Tips: Use a small amount and apply more as require, a little goes a long way!
