Scrub-a-dub-dub!

I was so excited to get onto this trial team as I love facial scrubs and masks as a treat for my skin and use them regularly.

I received the Purifying scrub version with Kiwi seeds, peppermint oil and lemongrass oil. The packaging is Clear and easy to read and you can see directly into the product through the clear window at the front, I love to see what Im actually getting! The pottle its self is a simple sleek design and is small and stackable in a small space. The labels are minimal and very easy to read.

The pottle is glass and has a screw top lid which was easy to open and close.

The texture of the product was VERY thick, i needed to scoop out about 3 fingertips worth to dot around my cheeks and forehead before spreading it around. I spread it around as instructed with dry face and fingers, then massaged my face with wet warm hands allowing the sugars to melt, then rinsed the left over product off. OH MY GOSH THE SOFTNESS!! My skin felt so smooth and clean and soft as a teddybear! The heat naturally generated is a nice feeling on the skin also while you are applying the product.

This product was quite scenty and reminded me more of a highly fragrance shampoo and conditioner so I wasn't as thrilled about that but it wasnt too bad either.

I have yet to try it on my lips but thats on the agenda for tonight as i have very dry and flaking lips at the moment but I have no worries that this product will help them out of that!

Overall a great product that i will happily recommend to others and well worth its $20 price point!

Tips: Allergic to Kiwifruit? DONT USE THIS ONE!

Almost good enough to eat!

A kiwifruit face scrub with actual kiwifruit seeds, isn't that neat! This looks just like a kiwifruit puree and smells equally delicious. The product has a thick gel consistency and contains lots sugar grains for optimum scrubbing action. I've recently been using the essano face scrub which is on the gentler side so this seemed a lot rougher in comparison. I don't think it was too harsh though since the sugar somewhat 'dissolved' as I rubbed it into my face. It was easy to rinse off (both in the shower and using a flannel at my sink) and didn't leave any residue on my skin.

Afterwards I felt as if a layer of dead skin cells have been lifted, and that my face was fresh and rejuvenated. I also noticed that it removed makeup quite well, so if I only had light makeup on I could even skip the makeup wipes and go straight in with this. I've limited myself to using this at the most twice a week, as it is quite a powerful exfoliant and I have sensitive skin. Haven't seen any longterm results like reduced blackheads or minimised pores but I have only been using it for two weeks.

I really wished this came in a squeeze tube or something like that. I like to use face scrubs in the shower but for someone who drops their soap/shampoo on almost a daily basis, glass jars meant disaster. Also this is only 50g for $20 which is a little less than what I'd have expected. Each time I use about half a teaspoon, so I'd expect this to only last a month, maybe 2 tops.

Sugar Scrub

First of all - I love the box, the window to show the product is always something I like, but the top has this folding bit that keeps the product really secure. It's the small things I like.

The product itself is smooth, I'm not sure if I like the bright colour, I know it's meant to be like kiwi fruit but it seems a little artificial. As does the smell. I was expecting something light and fruity - but instead like a lot of loreal products it has a strong perfume in it. This actually have me a burning feeling in my nose too strong. Thankfully it doesn't linher! The scrub has a good texture, I can feel it is doing something without being too abrasive. I have been using it in the shower every third or fourth day. I started only on my chin just to gauge if I would have a reaction. It made my skin feel smooth without feeling stripped. My assumption was a sugar scrub wouldn't be good for acne - but I haven't had a decent breakout since I started using this- a couple of stray spots but nothing like normal. I've started using it on my forehead now which is quite congested and I'm looking forward to results there.

Will i buy it again? Probably. It feels good, just a shame about the scent.

Definitely worth it

I had to try this scrub after seeing all your amazing reviews and I am so glad I did. This scrub was aimed at those wanting to purify the skin and help remove blackheads. I have combination/normal skin but do have large pores which makes my delightful blackheads look enormous. I have tried many scrubs and some have helped but they often leave my skin dry and slightly irritated. This kiwifruit scrub not only smelt amazing but made scrubbing fun as it literally melts on the skin. I couldn’t believe how clear and soft my skin felt afterwards. I had a few less blackheads and the others had risen to the surface making squeezing (dont judge) easier. I cant believe that after spending upwards of $50 on exfoliants at a time I’ve managed to find my holy grail scrub for $20. I normally use a scrub 2-3 times a week but after the amazing results from this delicious smelling scrub I’m considering mixing it up with the Cocoa one too

Tips: Wet your face first and scrub gently until the mask dissolves

Smells so good!

I have been using this once a week for about the last month and a half. This is such a nice scrub and I've been loving using it.

It's a thick paste that's easy to apply and rub into the skin. It feels very gentle on my skin, but I still feel like it exfoliates well. After using this my skin and lips feel so smooth and my pores look a lot smaller. It doesn't dry out my skin and leaves it feeling fresh and clean and soft. I love the smell of this product, it smells sugary but fresh and feels really nice when applying and washes off easily.

I think $20 is a fair price and am going to try the other scrubs from L'Oreal when mines almost gone!

A sweet scrub

Sugar scrubs! I have used them before for my hands (thanks Ethique), but never my face. I'm stoked I got to trial this because I probably wouldn't have otherwise. My face is very sensitive and I get eczema a lot around my eyes, nose and neck. That makes me wary of trying new products. Especially exfoliators and scrubs.

This though.... sweet (in both the Kiwi slang way and the sugar!). First off, it's the most gorgeous colour with the sweetest smell. It's also a gel which is weird, but nice. Read the instructions first and you'll see you put it on dry. Then add a touch of water to melt the sugar, then rinse off. It has self-heating properties which freaked me out at first, but subsequent times I liked it.

It definitely made a difference to my skin appearance and feel. It didn't overly clean or dry out my skin, and instead made it feel soft, dewy and delicious. Use it on your lips before applying lipstick for added oomph.

After one week I definitely noticed less blackheads and my skin was less oily. Normally, by the end of the day my skin needs another good clean but I found that wasn't the case here.

The box says use 3 times a week, so I applied it just before jumping in the shower, allowing me to rinse it off in there.

It seems like it will last a while. I'll definitely buy this product again when my jar is empty. It's a lovely refreshing and energising clean for summer, while I bet the self-heating and exfoliating qualities will really shine in winter too.

Tips: Apply to dry face first. Then add a touch of water to melt the sugar, before rinsing off. Great to use before applying lipstick - especially matte lipstick!

L'Oréal Paris Sugar Scrub. Purifying Scrub

I was lucky and am grateful to be trialling this product from Beauty review thank you.

It comes in a square pottle with a screw on lid. The consistency is gooey green and semi thick green sugar scrub with kiwi fruit seeds throughout and has a sweet scent.

This one claims to purify your skin and rid you of blackheads. To use you simply apply the sugar scrub on your face, add a a small amount of warm water and gently rub and circular motions then leave it to absorb into your face until the sugar melts and wash off with lukewarm water.

While I felt this product was gooey it was easy to apply and wash off. It did not feel harsh at all on my face and had a pleasant scent. It left my skin feeling extremely soft and after 5 uses I have noticed reduce blackheads which anybody should be happy about. I did notice that before I applied the water to my face the product heated up quite quickly on my skin which had me concerned but I think it's what the product is meant to do? And that heat quickly disappeared once I added the water and started scrubbing my face.

This product recommends using roughly 3 times per week and I still have at least half of it left after 5 uses so it would be great value for money.

I would happily recommend and I am actually planning on purchasing the other sugar Scrubs to see how they go and look forward to reading other ladies reviews.

Tips: A small amount goes a long way and remember to screw the lid on tight afterwards so that the product does not dry out.

L’Oréal Paris Purifying Face Scrub

I’ve got to say, I was pleasantly surprised by this face scrub. I’ve never been a big fan of the brand and definitely wouldn’t normally reach for any of their skincare. However I really enjoyed this scrub.

In terms of packaging, the glass jar gave it a nice heavy feel, although I didn’t think it was particularly attractive packaging. The instructions state to scoop out some product with DRY hands, put the lid back on and then apply to the face, which is more than likely due to the fact that getting water in the product would ruin it. This makes it quite inconvenient for use in the shower which is where I most often use a face scrub for easier clean up. Personally I think the product would benefit from being in a squeeze tube, so there’s little to no chance of water entering the product and increases ease of use.

The product itself is a lime green colour with the black kiwi seeds throughout. I found the smell odd, but not necessarily unpleasant. It smelt a little bit artificial, rather than my expectation of a kiwi/peppermint smell as described on the product.

My skin can get quite easily aggravated by scrubs, and I did expect this scrub to cause the same reaction as I thought the grains of sugar may be too large and coarse for my skin. However this wasn’t the case, and the scrub felt quite gentle, while still effective. After rinsing away the product from my face, my skin didn’t feel dry or stripped like it often can with exfoliating products. My skin felt quite balanced and super, super smooth. I couldn’t stop touching my face and it creates the perfect base for applying serums and moisturisers as it feels like my skin really absorbs the products better than usual and they don’t just sit on the surface.

I don’t really have an issue with pores or blackheads so I can’t say I noticed a reduction in either of these, but on the plus side it didn’t break my skin out or cause it any issues. In fact, it left my skin feeling quite healthy and balanced, plus looking very even and glossy.

Overall, I’m super impressed with this scrub and I think it’s taken #1 spot as my favourite face scrub. I would definitely repurchase it myself when I run out, although I still do think it would benefit from different packaging (although I appreciate the glass jar, minus the lid, as it means less plastic into the environment.)

Tips: Make sure you wet your face/hands enough to ensure the scrub is gentle. Without enough water to help the sugar dissolve a little, I think the scrub could definitely be too coarse for a lot of skin types.

L'Oreal Paris Sugar Scrub

Upon opening the lid I was hit with a pleasant sweet smell, which definitely smelt like kiwifruit. The scrub was warm upon application and easy to apply.

Did it do what it said it would? My skin definitely felt smooth and baby-soft straight after the first application. I'm not convinced that my pores and blackheads are visibly reduced but I've only used it for a week and this may come with continued use overtime.

I would definitely use this product again and was pleased to find that it didn't irritate my sensitive skin.

Tips: To avoid irritation, if you have sensitive skin like mine, you only need to use a small amount and will still have the desired effect.

Suagr scrub by Loreal Paris.

If this product was in a tube it would be more hygienic and light weight in luggage with less chance of breaking. It does have a plastic top under the lid which is good. directions and more info can be revealed if you peel back a shiny sticker on the back of the glass jar. I've tried quite a few exfoliating cosmetics but not many sugar scrubs. This product uses sugar and kiwi fruit seeds instead of plastic balls for me it feels good knowing that I am not harming turtles and the fish. The plastic balls in most exfoliating products end up being eaten by the sea life and is hazardous. Sugar granules are different sizes the size of the granule effects how harsh it will feel on the skin. This product has several sugars through it. The sugar dissolved and melted into my skin becoming less scrubby as I was using it. Adding water will also dilute results for more gentle exfoliating. Sugar hydrates the skin and helps promote the growth of new fresh young skin because it is a natural alpha hydroxy acid. (AHA). AHAs in higher concentrations should only be applied under care of beauty therapists and skin specialists because they can be painful and abrasive. However this product is a nice gentle AHA. Good for people who are a little weary of scrubs feeling too harsh/abrasive. This helps cleanse pores, soften the skin and hydrates. Sugar is a better option over salt scrub because a salt scrub will strip the natural oils actually drying skin out. Glycolic acid in this product helps maintain balance of oil and moisture in the skin and in the long run is good to prevent the look of aged skin. This product smells fresh but not super fruity as I was expecting. A little goes a fair way it looks and feels like a thick gel. The product claims to matiify the skin which I think it does. It helps with oil control and shine I did not have lot of oil so my skin was a little dry afterwards I noticed an hour or so after cleansing all the shine and oil was not all back like with other cleansers/exfoliants. People with oily skin may find this a good option. I don't have many black heads but I know that this product will help prevent them because the sugar graunules melt/dissolve they will not get stuck into the skin pores causing comedones (black heads/acne) like in other exfoliant granules The kiwi seeds are too large to get stuck in the skin. Yes this scrub works on lips too without being too harsh (and I got a hint of the taste. Sweet. Yes certainly sugar in there.) My skin felt soft after use and did not look dull. I did not notice much of a cooling sensation that usually comes with products that have peppermint oil in them and it does not smell very minty either but great to know it is in the product soothing the skin. This product I am satisfied with it. At $20 for 50ml the price is not great but at least it does seem to do what it says it will.

Tips: Ensure you use sunscreen and moisturize after exfoliating and using sugar & salt scrub.
