Great size and design!

I love this product teamed with my scrub, the sleek design of the bottle is great and allows me to use at the sink or in the shower due to the pump, it’s also easy to close to take travelling etc. The product it’s self comes out as a black cream type product and when you add water it bubbles up to a foam. At first use it dried out my skin but I think this was the charcoal or saliac acid after using for over a week it has improved. I haven’t noticed any huge changes to my blackheads but as a cleanser it makes my skin feel refreshed and clean. The blueberry extract is not overpowering and smells like your typical cleanser

Tips: Use water to foam up

Garnier Pure Active Charcoal Gel Wash

got selected to try this product and it the description made it sound like it would suit my needs perfectly (oily skin and prone to blackheads). I was worried it might dry my skin out, however I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't!

I definitely found it strong smelling - almost a masculine smell. I'm not really sensitive to smell, so I didn't mind it (and by the end I kind of enjoyed it). The packaging made me think masculine too. I found it interesting that the actual product was black, and it certainly lathered well (you only need a tiny bit). I'm a bit concerned that the pump bottle style might mean that water is getting into the product because I have been using it in the shower, and it's kept on the ground in there. Maybe the product is just slightly watery?

The product made my face tingle while it was on and for a little bit after, but it didn't seem to dry out my skin or overstimulate oil production. In fact, my skin actually felt soft rather than stripped after cleansing (I guess I had low expectations after other acne gel cleansers I've tried). Unfortunately it didn't appear to make much of a difference to my skin though. It felt nice on, but I didn't notice a reduction in blackheads. I also noticed some acne after not having many spots for quite a while (however I've recently introduced an oil into my routine so it may be to do with that). Definitely no major breakouts though.

I'll definitely keep using this as I think it might just take slightly longer to see results (and because it didn't dry my skin out and make it extra oily - yay). I'm not sure that I would purchase it though, because I haven't been wowed by it. It is a reasonable price though and easy to find (and a nice enough face wash), so it might be worth a shot.

Tips: I liked to keep it on for a few minutes in the shower so all the ingredients could do their work. I like to use it just once a day to make sure I'm not overdoing it on my skin - I use it morning or night (whenever I have my shower), then use a 'gentler' product for my other cleanse.

Great new product!

I have been really enjoying this face wash. It foams dry easily, with only a small amount of product needed at a time. It feels really smooth on the skin. It is quite a drying product, so moisturising afterwards ensures the skin stays hydrated. I would reccomend this product to people with acne prone skin. I have very acne prone skin, and this product has worked well for me.

Refreshing

I can see this becoming my favourite face wash pretty soon! I really like the scent of this gel wash, it's quite minty and for some people who have sensitive eyes it could be too strong, but for me it's just right. I could see this product becoming part of my morning skincare routine, since the mint is so refreshing!

It's also worth mentioning that little goes a long way, I used three pumps and usually I would use either that or up to five depending on the cleanser. It lathers up really nicely and it feels really soft on the face and also leaves your skin feeling soft too.

The packaging isn't really anything eye-catching apart from the contrast of the dark product against the light text on the bottle. That does make the brand and product details stand out which makes it easy to read. The product in the bottle is black and comes out as grey colour with a light creamy texture but once it lathers up its a creamy white. The product isnt as abrasive as I thought it would be, it's the texture I quite like since I have a sensitive undereye and cheek area, and it doesn't hurt to use or irritate my skin.

I've only used the product twice, and I can already tell my face is less greasy/oily. I can't tell if I have less blackheads just yet but the texture of my skin is better since I've used it. My boyfriend has also used it and he said he likes this product as well, and he never likes trying my skincare products! His forehead is extremely prone to blackheads and they are a bit less visible. I would recommend this product to anyone whose skin is oily or prone to blackheads, or just wants a nice face wash for the morning that will prevent the build-up of oils and dirt that cause blackheads.

Tips: I would recommend using a cleansing pad from Shop Miss A or Kmart, or any other shop that sells them. The pads that sit on your fingers that have bristles on them. The product will cleanse your skin better!

Way too harsh for face, okay for body

I tried this on my face and it was far too harsh and drying for me to even keep using for the purposes of the trial. I decided to try it on my chest instead, as I am prone to blackheads there. It works alright, but requires serious moisturiser afterwards.

Tips: Massage in for a minute or two to really let the active ingredients sit for a bit.

Amazing charcoal gel wash!

I absolutely love the consistency of this cleanser, the smell isn't over powering. With every use it has made my skin feel softer, clearer and very very clean. I love to use this after I clean off my makeup to make sure my face is completely clean for bed. I have a few blackheads and have noticed the difference, sone have reduced and some have gone completely. My skin looks so much clearer and glowy! I have also been using garniers charcoal 3 in 1 aloh with this wash and they work wonderfully together. I would definitely use this wash again and I will buy another.

Tips: Use it with the 3 in 1 garnier charcoal antiblackhead wash scrub and mask. You will definitely notice the difference.

Smelly??

I have mixed feelings about this facewash.

On one hand it makes my skin feel wonderful. I really like how it foams up and doesn't feel harsh on your skin at all. It's also not overly drying which I think is great cause other charcoal products I've used have left my skin feeling really dry. Definitely noticed less blackheads after using it for a few days.

But on the other had a really dislike the smell of it. It's much too strong and unpleasant.

Would the smell stop me from buying it in the future? Possibly. As much as I like the actual product and think that it does exactly what it says it does I can't get past the smell.

Garnier Pure Active Charcoal Gel Wash Review

This cleanser is another great product from the Garnier charcoal line. I enjoyed using this as it didn't leave my skin irritated at all. It is a very refreshing cleanser as it leaves the skin with a cooling sensation.

I think it'll take a few more weeks to see if it prevents the reappearance of blackheads but so far it seems to be doing a very good job at reducing shine without making my skin feel dry and tight. I will say that I still prefer the 3in1 cleanser, scrub and mask from this line as it saves time. But this cleanser is still very good for everyday use and removes all the makeup that hadn't been removed with my makeup remover.

Overall this is an amazing product and I highly recommend. It's perfect for those with oily to combination skin types who are prone to blackheads.

Tips: Always moisturise after using this cleanser. Or be like me and follow up with the rest of my 10 step skincare routine.

Glad I Found This

I have used Garnier products off and on for the last few years with moderate effects. This new product sounded very interesting in tackling a big issue with my skin - blackheads!

The packaging itself is pretty standard, with a lot product. It is going to last me a long while! The formula is a black gel that turns into a white foam. The texture is thick so I need a full pump at least for my whole face. When applied to a wet face it foams and works well into the skin. I have found that it not only gets that last little bits of makeup off (I use a cleanser/micellar water first) it also works well in releasing and clearing oil. I find that my skin is plump and not as oily, yet still has moisture.

It has quite a strong smell, almost like Lynx body spray. I don't mind it, but I could imagine it might put some people off.

Over the last week of using this product I have noticed that my blackheads are less prominent, smaller; and overall my skin has cleared up quickly. I will definitely continue to use this product and see how my skin continues to clear up!

Garnier Pure Active Charcoal Gel Wash Review

I was lucky enough to receive the gel wash through beauty review to test out. I think this was because I was also a tester for the Garnier Pure Active Charcoal 3 in 1 mask. The two had quite a few similarities as they were from the same line I’m pretty sure. The packaging of the gel was nice and simplistic with a black bottle which worked as the main ingredient was charcoal. I did like that it includes salicylic acid, my current natural cleanser doesn’t.

It has the typical smell of Garnier products; pretty sure it was the same or very similar to the mask. The formula was a runny gel but as soon as you put it on your face or rub it together it foams up really easily. However, this increased the smell and it was very strong. I am sensitive to strong smells, so I didn’t really like this. It was really easy to apply though. At first, I would use a couple of pumps foam It in my hands and then rub it over my face. However, as I tried it out over a few days I changed to apply a pea-sized amount to each area of my face and then rub it over once applied. I found that this was the best method to apply it.

The gel felt really hot on my face and tingled sometimes, I wasn’t used to this as before this I was using a natural cleanser (herbalism by lush). I did like that it washed off easy with splashes of water. Once out of the shower and my face was dry, my face felt really dry and tingly for about an hour and I did not like that, it felt really uncomfortable.

In regard to the results, it does help, I found that it brought my acne out the first couple of days and I did notice my skin visibly improving quite quickly. It reduced my active acne and I don’t know to what extent, but I think it reduced my skin redness and scaring visibility too.

Overall, I would keep using the gel until it runs out. However, I’m not sure if I would repurchase it but it would depend on if I get used to the smell/feel once it’s dry. My current cleanser is lush herbalism, so I would need to keep using the charcoal gel wash to be able to compare how both products help me and then make a decision from there.

Tips: MOISTURISE after, it makes your face feel tight and dry, so you need to put the moisture back in your skin.
