A great foundation for dry skin

I love this!! It's dewy but not shiny and sits on the skin beautifully!

With my skin becoming more mature as I age i was finding heavier or matte foundations we starting to look like a mask on me. I impulse bought this last year and am now onto my second bottle.

A little goes a long way and you can build up the coverage without it looking cakey. It feels like skincare and lasts all day.

I am very pale and found the lightest shade was too pale for me so opted for the next one up. So if you are pale this might be a good option for you.

The only thing i am not a fan of is the applicator. It's a bit messy, especially if you have it rolling around your make up bag.

Light Makeup Love

I purchased this thinking I could wear it on the days I don’t want heavy makeup and I was amazed. It blends into skin beautifully and has a light coverage while also leaving my face glowing. I will continue to purchase this for the low makeup days and love how my skin looks and feels wearing it and even afterwards. I have normal/ dryish skin and put it on after my morning skincare and even have tried it without moisturiser and it still looks flawless and isn’t patchy.

The only thing I didn’t like was the dropper. It makes a bit of a mess, I’d much prefer it having a pump. I have had to change a few outfits since it’s more liquidy like a serum and tends to drip if I’m not paying it close attention (my fault not the serum haha).

I’m almost out of my first bottle and have another on the way. Definitely recommend for a light makeup look!

Tips: Apply with your hands to get the best result.

Be careful opening as the dropper gets messy after a few uses.

Top 3 foundations I've tried

This is my go to during the summer but still looks amazing the colder seasons! It's very hydrating and has a natural skin like coverage. I love that its a skincare and makeup hybrid and it makes my skin look hydrated and plump while minimising my redness and lasts all day. The only thing I don't like is the shade range isn't that great, The lightest shade was way to light for me that I had to mix a darker foundation to get it to my shade and the one up from that was too dark and it looked way too noticeable I was wearing makeup. But the formulation is great!

L’Oréal True Match plumping tinted serum

What a great idea! A skin care product and a foundation in one. Shake well before applying. Use either finger tips or a sponge to blend for a natural finish. The serum has the added ease of a squeeze dropper to aid application which helps as the liquid is quite thin and runny although has a creamy consistency with little to no fragrance. Easy to apply, for light coverage that lasts well. I was unable to confirm if it plumped my wrinkles however skin did look smoother. Recommend for light natural looking cover.

Tips: Shake well before use. Use of sponge as a quick way to get even coverage.

L’Oréal True Match Plumping Tinted Serum Review

The formula is beautiful however the undertone of all shades are very limited. Medium is more pink under toned rather than neutral or warmer. It'll be awesome if there was more of a colour range for dark skinned or warmer under toned

Nice product

Was like quite thin watery for me, well as it a serum faced foundation. I have oily skin so don’t necessarily need an oil glossy look. But this wasn’t sooo bad, gave a nice dewy look. So I ended up decently liking.

L'oreal True Match plumping serum

First off the packaging is lovely, a glass bottle with a pipette dropper. You can see the lovely colour through the bottle. It has hyaluronic acid in it and I'm a big fan of that! My colour was light to medium. When I opened the bottle, unfortunately there is so much product on the dropper that you don't need to squeeze it up the pipette, you can just wipe it off on to your face or foundation brush. The colour match was quite good though I thought I could see demarcation lines around my chin area. The product itself is the gorgeously glowy and hydrating on the skin and is easy to blend. It gives the skin a gorgeous hydration and feels like a great skin care product but the cover was very light and transfered very easily. It was very dewy, and looks so soft on the skin but for me, it was more like a very lovely tinted moisturiser than a foundation. As skincare, it's delicious though as a foundation unfortunately, it just did not do its job. Really wanted to love this!

Light Skin Tint

I'm a big fan of BB Creams, more so the older I've become. They glide over the skin better and blur fine lines. L'Oreal's True Match Serum sounded perfect for me, especially as it promised to help keep my complexion plumped with moisture. I'm all for that and was very excited to take part in this trial.

Like all L'Oreal products, the packaging is simple and well-designed. I really liked the size of the bottle and appreciated the gently squared shape. It makes it easy to grip and open, and just looks classy in my bathroom cabinet :) The instructions on the bottle are absolutely tiny, though, and I had to squint to read them, but that could just be my aging eyes.

The dropper application was a little hit and miss for me. The consistency of the serum is quite runny, meaning a lot of product gathered and dripped off from the outside of the applicator along with what I'd squeezed out of the dropper. You're meant to shake the bottle before each application, so the product tends to coat the applicator more so because of this. But on the plus side, having such a light consistency also meant that it was really nice to apply over my face. It glided on effortlessly and blended well. I just used my finger tips, but I could imagine a soft sponge would be even better.

The finish is nice and natural and dries quickly to give a pleasant and subtle glow. It is lighter than the BB Creams I've used so doesn't seem to cover the uneven skin tone as well. I was a little disappointed with its lack of coverage.

It's a little too early yet to see what happens with continued use, but I will be interested to see if it delivers on its plumping promise.

The price indicator is around $40-45 (from Farmers) which I think is steep considering a standard BB Cream gives a better coverage, so I'm not tempted to give up my BB Cream just yet.

Tips: You can get better coverage with a second application to targeted areas.

Not for dry skin

I have dry skin, and it is worse with mask wearing all day at work (I am a nurse). I found that this foundation made my skin feel very dried out by the end of the working day. Sadly not for me!

But some Pro's: - smooths out skin, doesnt settle into lines - I am sure this formula matches to your skin tone. because my shade looks a little pink in the jar, but becomes more neutral on. - does not oxidise - sheer/light coverage, great for daily wear - would suit oily to normal skin (in my opinion)

Tips: apply using fingers or a sponge buildable formula

Not so great for dry skin

My first impression when I opened this was, ew! Messy! My other serums have dropper applicators, but for this thicker, tinted serum, it's awful, as it ends up all over the outside of the dropper. It's almost impossible to squeeze a few clean drops out without dripping everywhere, and it's hard to get the applicator back in the bottle without covering the rim in product. I'd have much preferred a pump.

The packaging aside, when I first applied this, I was impressed. It's a lovely consistency, really fluid without being watery, and super easy to blend into the skin. Once on it feels very light and hydrating, gentle and soothing on my sensitive skin, and it melts away into a soft sheen finish. Perfect. However, it doesn't last, at least not on my dry skin. After a couple of hours I need to apply more, or add a layer of moisturiser. I'd expect that from a serum normally, but given the hype around the 'plumping hyaluronic acid' element of this one, I thought it might be more hydrating. If anything, I find it more drying than my normal serums, maybe because of the mineral pigments?

In terms of coverage, I generally go for a natural look - my skin but better, more even, more polished. But with this serum I struggled to see if it was giving me any coverage at all. I tried doing multiple layers at one point, and I think it maybe evened out my skin a little, but not by much.

I love the idea of this serum. I love the elegant texture and finish of it. But as a hydrating foundation - even a light one - it doesn't really work for me. I'd likely recommend it to friends with normal-oily skin though, as I can imagine it could be perfect for them.

Tips: Shake the bottle well before use, as the formula does separate a bit in the jar.
