Pleasant lime scent

I really love the Skinfood brand. I think they make wonderful products for sensitive skin. I received this scrub when I bought a Skinfood beauty bundle online. I was excited to give this a go.

This comes in the same white and green packaging as their other products. In the tube you get 100ml, which is the same amount as their moisturisers. The tube stands on its lid, which is great for using up the very last of the product.

I use exfoliators once a week on my face, and before I shave my legs. My skin is quite dry and sensitive, so exfoliating too much is bad for it. The packaging does not state whether this scrub is for your face or body. I only used this scrub on my body. The reason is because this scrub is quite grainy and rough in texture. I thought it would be too rough for my face.

This scrub does not appear to use microbeads, which is great! Instead it uses crushed walnut shell which is combined with cucumber, honey, aloe vera, almond and lime. The scrub itself is a cream coloured creme with brown gritty fragments of walnut. The lime scent of the scrub is strong, and very pleasant and refreshing.

My main issue with this scrub is that you have to apply it with your hands. I like to put my exfoliator onto a loofah, and then rub that on my body. But when I tried that with this scrub, it was too thick and chunky, and most of it stayed stuck to the loofah. It worked better on my body when I applied it with my hands, and it did leave my skin feeling soft, but I don't think it is the ideal body scrub. It may work better as a face scrub, which I do prefer to apply with my hands.

Tips: Rub it directly onto your skin with your hands. Do not use it with a loofah.

good scrub

I use this twice a week to keep my skin glowing and radiant. I love that it isn't too harsh but because my skin can sometimes be sensitive, i wouldn't recommend using it more then twice a week if your skin is sensitive.

The grain itself is perfect at removing dead skin cells without being too harsh. I also like how eye catching the packaging is and it reflects the natural feel of the brand as a whole.

i would buy this again if it was on special.

Nice, but don't quite hit the mark or me..

I receieved this in the BR Beauty Box, the instant I laid eyes on it the combination of ingredients stated on the front of the packaging appealed to me and made me want to use it right away. Packed with natural ingredients that we know are good for our health and skin such as cucumber, manuka honey, aloe vera & almond oil.. it's gotta be for you (surely)!

This is a cream cleanser with fine flecks of walnut shell through it, reminiscent of the commonly trialed (original) St.Ive's apricot scrub, but this is much more gentle in comparison, gentle enough to use on daily basis. The consistency is thick, creamy and grainy, the scent is prominently soft lime.

I find that this product funtions more are as buffer to smooth and polish the skin rather than a cleanser. My skin feels super smooth, hydrated and soft after spending a minute or 2 massaging a pea sized amount into my face before rinsing off. Though the feeling of fresh squeaky cleanliness I feel is lacking after washing with this, and it's a waste of time trying to tackle eye-makeup with this cleanser.

This is a mild and gentle cleanser, I would think suitable or every day use if you don't typically wear make up on a daily basis. whereas if you are in a full face of makeup reguarly it may not be hard-working enough to get the job done.

I like the way that this product makes my skin feel to the touch, I like that it's NZ made using natural ingredients, I like the texure and scent. However it doesn't compare to my favourite cleansers in the actual cleansing depatment, in fact I have come to use it as a follow -up treatment after washing with a different cleaner to buff the suface of my skin.

I have enjoyed using this product but won't purchase as it doesn't fully deliver what I expect from a cleanser.

Exfoliation Nation

So when I first got this product in the BRBB I assumed it was a face scrub. Then I looked around and was under the impression it was a body scrub. I have been using it as a face scrub only, so if it's for anything else, my bad. The bottle doesn't actually say WHERE it is to be used, so I figure I'm in the clear. On the skinfood website it comes with exfoliating gloves so now I'm even more confused!

The product is a lovely, creamy light brown in color, with bits and pieces of scrubby stuff through it. I'm guessing some of it is walnut shell, as that's one of the ingredients. It feels quite nice on my skin, too. The product doesn't lather at all, but I'm fine with that. I use about a 10c piece size of the product and it covers all of my face and some of my neck.

The smell is quite unusual - I don't smell any of the main products, but at the same time I do. It doesn't smell predominantly of cucumber or lime, but I can get the tiniest ounce of their smells. It's really quite earthy, I think, but it isn't a bad smell.

My skin feels lovely and soft after use, and thankfully it doesn't dry my skin out too much. In fact it's perfect for my skin. It gets rid of the dead skin cells and some of the oiliness, but I've found it doesn't really clear up my blackheads or pimples when I have them. So I would repurchase only if I was really desperate, but I'm glad I got to try it.

Skinfood scrub - ok for price

I purchased this scrub as I like the brand and reasonable price.

I like the texture of the walnut but find the scrub a bit too creamy/oily in feel. The scrub leaves a bit of a residue feeling - but perhaps that is just the moisturiser in it.

The smell and packaging are good.

Didn't see much difference in skin. Will use up on dry skin on elbows/knees but will look for something else for my face.

Skinfood Exfoliating Scrub

I received this product in a Goodiebox (like so many others) and have been trying it out over the last few weeks. I've never really used a scrub before so it's an interesting experience for me.

The product is a very thick cream, and the scent isn't unpleasant. I like the ease with which it moves around my face, but there seems to be a lack of exfoliants as it is sometimes difficult to get enough 'beads' to scrub properly. I end up using quite a bit of product to get a decent scrub going.

I do like the fact that this is a natural product, and that it is New Zealand made. However I'm not convinced it is the be all and end all, and I'm going to be trying out other scrubs for comparison.

Tips: Use in the shower as it is easier to get the thick paste washed off.

Rough and Waxy

This thick, gritty paste comes in an easy-to-use flip-top squeeze tube and has a very subtle lime scent.

Comparing this product to my usual facial exfoliator, I found the paste to have quite large exfoliating particles and was quite rough on my skin, although it left it feeling smooth and soft. One thing I didn't like about this product was that it left a waxy feel on my skin after rinsing and as I have naturally oily skin, this wasn't very pleasant.

Because of the waxy residue and harsh exfoliating particles, I would not purchase this product again, but I would recommend it to others, as it's just a matter of personal preference whether you like the feel of it on your skin or not.

This could possibly be a great exfoliator for those with dry or combination skin types, as the waxy feeling I experienced could be from the sweet almond oil and may help to lock in moisture.

Tips: It works great as a body exfoliator, not so good as a facial exfoliator.

Scrub-a-dub-rub

Face scrubs have always made me cringe, It reminds me of when we would go to the beach as kids and we rubbed sunscreen on ourselves, there was sand mixed in with the sun screen, sunscreen+sand= scrubs, and it took me a long time after that to even look at face scrubs let alone put them on my face.

I like how Skinfood has a simple packaging for each of it's products, it's normally white and fresh looking but I need to be 100% sure on which one I pick up incase it's the mud masque instead of the exfoliating scrub.

Squeezing this scrub onto my hands is very thick, the beads are large and rubbing this into your face isn't as bad as I imagined it to be. I like to apply this in large circular motions before going in with small circular motions working on my nose, chin and forehead.

I'm surprised with the smell of this as it smells really good, I am not a lime fan but it's very subtle and sweet, there's a hint of aloe Vera which I'm a big fan of, all the smells make a really good scent together.

Rinsing this off was harder than most scrubs I have used in the past, it has a waxy texture which makes it hard to remove ,warm water is the easiest way and be careful not to get this in your eyes.

My skin does feel softer and smoother, dry skin is gone and I'm left with a clean replenished face. I don't have the Skinfood moisturiser so I've been using the Love skin in Ti amo which moisturises my skin really well.

This is a good exfoliating scrub but I don't think I will repurchase another one when this one runs out.

moisturizing scrub

I received this scrub in I think a goodie box last year and have been using it for the last 2 months. The packaging is super simple, it's nothing that jumps out at me but being a unisex product, i think it has mass appeal.

I'm a really big fan of sweet almond scent so i was really looking forward to using this. Unfortunately, i was left disappointed as it does not smell like that at all, rather a very plant like natural scent. I really didn't like it at first, but I've gotten used to the scent now an i guess it's OK but still not totally appealing.

before this I'd been using the St Ives apricot scrub which gives a really good scrub. This is quite different. It's a very creamy product and not as densely packed with 'grit'. I do find I need to use a decent amount of product to get enough to do my face and my neck.

I think it Does an alright job at scrubbing but I do prefer a more gritty scrub. I use this every second day in the morning after cleansing. I'm not sure if it's just because the cleanser I am using is so drying but this scrub actually seems to hydrate my skin. I don't get a tight feeling after using this.

I think it's alright value for money, I'm just over half way done with this so 4 months is good but in saying that my St Ives scrub lasted me a year.

I'm not sure if I would purchase this product, I would use it if it was given to me or in a sub box but I can't help comparing it to The St Ives scrub and this just falls short for me.

Great product, just not for me.

I will begin this review by saying that I am fussy and particular when it comes to facial exfoliators. There is a fine line between too harsh and too gentle, and it can be such a satisfying and skin changing aspect to your routine if the right product is found. Currently, nothing beats my Clarins One Step Exfoliating cleanser, which is pricey but lasts forever. I received the Skinfood Exfoliating Scrub in a GoodieBox and decided to give it a try.

Most exfoliators that I have tried have had an even consistency of 'beads' and these make up the bulk of the product. The Skinfood exfoliator however has larger 'beads' scattered throughout a thick, creamy formula. The thickness of the products means that it can be moved over my face easily without slipping between my fingers. I did find the beads scratchy, perhaps because they are natural. The exfoliator feels like certain parts of my face are being scratched and harshly exfoliated, whilst other parts are simply being cleansed.

I take a lot of interest in my skincare and as I am treating acne scarring exfoliating is an important aspect of my skincare. Therefore, I won't be continuing to use the Skinfood exfoliating scrub, I will be passing it onto my partner instead. For somebody that isn't quite so fussy, or places value on natural based skincare, this would be an affordable purchase that can be picked up from the supermarket.
