Eyelids on fire

I have used firstly Oil of Ulan moisturising cream, then Olay creams through various iterations since I was 14 some 43 years later. Regenerist duo has resulted in itchy and stingy eyelids and I have now backed away from Olay altogether. My eyes are slowly but surely coming right. I'm not sure if I will go back to Olay, whatever they have been doing to their formulas does not appear to agree with me!

Olay Miracle Boost & Micro Sculpt Duo

I enjoyed using the Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence gel. It comes in a dropper bottle which easily dispenses the correct amount to use. You only need a little so will last a long time. It is easily absorbed and does not leave any residue. Skin feels smoother and lighter after using this product. Highly recommend. However Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting Cream was very greasy and did not absorb into my skin leaving it oily and tacky. After using for a week, my skin broke out on my T section. I am 43 with fine lines so thought this would be perfect for me. Not impressed with the Micro Sculpt Cream, but recommend the Miracle Boost.

Tips: Apply the Miracle Boost after cleansing and toning, then apply the cream.

Miracle ...hmm

I was excited to use both products and ever hopeful for good results . Both products initially excited me and seemed really good, the cream smelt divine ,and lovely on my skin ,and the serum although initially seemed sticky on application did leave my skin feeling smooth and supple especially after applying the cream . However an hour or so later my skin still felt dry and didn’t have a glow to it that other products have given me . They failed in my opinion to deliver what’s advertised and perhaps is more suited to less mature skin . There really hasn’t been a marked improvement in my skin .

Tips: Use the serum sparingly ,but apply the cream until you feel it has given you that smooth silky feeling to your skin .

Good primer & moisturiser duo

I used the Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence and Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting Face Cream together in the mornings and before bed for three weeks.

They come in matching posh red and silver packaging, which makes it looks very high end and matches their quite high price.

Together the products make a good duo as the pre-essence acts like a primer for the moisturiser, making it go on more smoothly and absorbing into my skin better. I trialled the best length of time to apply the two products and found that leaving the essence to dry for about 30 seconds was ideal. Too soon and it seemed too wet for the cream, but longer than that it seemed to have dried too much and the cream didn't apply as smoothly.

Using the products together my face felt more hydrated and smooth. However I didn't see any visible signs of reducing wrinkles (though I may need to use it for more than three weeks to see real results).

Because the cream doesn't have sun protection and the two step process seems a bit much for my busy mornings, I will start using this just at night before bed.

Tips: Let pre-essence dry for about 30secs before applying cream.

Unfortunately my skin reacted to the combination

I found the products really easy to apply. The Pre-essence is applied first and gives good coverage. I found the essence made my skin tingle but thought that was just the active ingredients doing its 'thing'. The sculpting cream then went over the top over the top. This gave my skin a reflecting glow which I liked.

I found that my skin became quite 'tacky' feeling which I didn't like too much.

After a week of using this duo my skin became quite pimply so I stopped using them. I recommenced after a week when my skin had cleared and unfortunately my skin reacted again so I stopped the trial. Not sure what caused it but think it may have been the Miracle Boost as my skin tingled when applied.

Tips: Make sure the Miracle Boost has absorbed before applying the cream.

Liked one half of the Duo

This product said it would make me look younger with plumper skin and less wrinkles. To be honest I noticed very little changes in the plump skin aging part of the claim. I have no doubt I was nourishing my skin and that I am probably better off for using it but I didn't see much visual support to the claim.

What I did notice is that when I used the cream during the day my face felt much heavier and greasier and my makeup didn't stay as fresh for as long. On the day I forgot and only used to the Miracle Boost (Mummy Brain) I found that my skin felt much better so I would assume it is the Micro Sculpting cream that was causing the oil slick. I was impressed by a patch of eczema I had been battling to get rid of, that has significantly improved and since the Miracle Boost claims to speed up cell renewal I would assume it was from this. My conclusion is I didn't really like the cream but saw some results from the Miracle Boost but I would definitely not invest in them as a duo. I did not like the way the cream made my face feel.

Miracle Duo?

Olay Micro Sculpt Duo: a product with a lovely scent, a light gel and easy to apply. I did find the product absorbed easily in my skin and the feel was pleasant and felt that it firmed up my skin. Personally felt one pump of the dispenser was sufficient, rather than the two pumps recommended on the packaging.

Olay Miracle Boost: Love the consistency and texture of this creme. It did feel luxurious on the skin, and felt like it did lock in the serum more using this product as part of a skincare regime. I did break out in pimples the first few days but this improved after use.

Result: After less than two weeks using this product, I still need to see the results eventuate from using these products. I do love the serum and feels like this hydrates my skin and using both products, my skin does feel softer. Does it meet the 'Miracle' claim - not yet. I have not seen this as a stand-out from other similar brands or products (yet), but will keep on the regime for another month to see if the benefits shine for me.

I found both products had attractive packaging and with the Olay products being easily accessible and reasonably priced in the supermarket, it certainly is a product I will use in future, if the benefits work for me....time will tell :-)

Tips: Use this religiously day and night to see the best results.

Pick One Or The Other

So I have been using Olay Miracle Boost and Micro Sculpt Duo for about 3 weeks now and I'm still trying to work out if you actually need to use both products at the same time to see the results both products claim to give. Here are my conclusions anyway: I found the Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence to be quite drying on my skin after application (and I have oily skin) and then the Olay Regenerist Advanced Anti-Ageing Micro-Sculpting Cream Moisturiser put that moisture straight back. Perhaps that is what is supposed to happen and then if that is the case then for sure, you need both products. If that isn't the case to be honest you probably only need one or the other. Both products claim to do the same things for your skin - it's just kind of worded differently! It suggests to use both products morning and night which is what I did - serum first, moisturiser second. I really don't feel you need to use the serum and the cream together. I believe that the face cream on its own would be all you need to see results. You could possibly only need the serum on its own if you have oily skin like myself as I found it a bit drying on my own skin. If this range does sound like it would be up your alley, choose one product, I really don't think you need both xx

Miracle Boost and Micro Sculpt Duo

I was lucky enough to be chosen to trial these products. I am 38, with dry skin, and fine lines on my forehead. I have been using these for approximately 3 weeks: once a day at night-time.

The packaging and design of the products is eye-catching and clever. They come in red and silver boxes with pictures of the product on the front. The bottle is 40ml, and the jar is 50g. The Micro Sculpt has an innovative pump design to gather the serum into the stopper. It is pretty easy to use and makes using the dropper applicator simple. You can cover your face with 1 - 2 drops.

The jar for the Miracle Boost is red, while the lid is a chromatic silver. The circular lid has an oval indentation on the top, which is slightly off centre and which gives it a modernist, slightly sci-fi quality. It would look very cool sitting in your bathroom.

I have not noticed a huge difference, after three weeks of using these, to my skin. I only used them in the evening as I did not want to use heavy skincare in the daytime. So it is hard to tell if my skin is better for using this, but it is definitely not worse.

One thing I have a problem with is the smell of the Miracle Boost cream. It smells like a chlorinated swimming pool, and I have had trouble getting past that. Every time I go to apply it I am overcome by the scent. It is an unusual choice of scent for skincare, and it is very strong. Perhaps they were going for an ocean scent, but I can't help but notice it every time I apply it.

Although you are meant to layer these products, I do not think you have to use them together to get the full effect of the products. I think you can mix and match them as much as you like. I think if you are looking for a serum along the lines of international brands that you can buy locally, then Micro Sculpt is worth a go. I think Miracle Boost cream is a good night cream, but I do not think it is noticeably better than other night creams that can be bought locally.

Olay Miracle boost and sculpt duo

These two products are part of a set of 4 but can be used individually as well. Both products are packaged very elegantly in gorgeous red containers. The serum has a neat pump in the lid to draw the product up and ensures you get just the right amount each time. The cream is in a regular pot, nothing is supplied to scoop it out so you'd need to have your own if you didn't like using fingers.

Both products work well together and are easy to apply. The serum is so light that adding the cream on top does not feel like you have too much product and still absorbs well. For a person who is used to this sort of regimen these products would be great, they did make my skin brighter and so smooth but I feel it was too short a time to tell if they will reduce wrinkles, repair and slow ageing affects as stated on the box. My skin is quite sensitive and not keen on a lot of product too often, I found using both twice a day a bit much. While I had no reaction which was great I felt if I kept going using both twice a day I was going to have a huge break out. So I cut down to just morning and washed it off at night. So while my face still benefited from using it this may be why I didn't see the full effect.

Tips: Only use a tiny bit of cream, it goes a long way
