My favourite lip balm

I was put onto this a few years ago and have never looked back. It comes in a white lipstick case so if you don't want people to think you have a lip balm rather than a lipstick then this is the one for you. Works great and even makes some lines around my mouth disappear!

Tips: Keep one on your hand bag all the time and a spare one at home in a drawer in case you run out!

Luxurious

This lip protectant is wonderful. It heals any cracks or dry patches, leaving your lips soft and supple. I love that it lasts, keeping your lips moisturised and repairing them long term. The sun protection is a must in our New Zealand sun and I have had success with this lip protectant. I've only tried the clear one, not any of the shades. I like that it is applied like a lipstick with the shaped stick, even though it's only a clear cover. This is a really lovely product. If you are looking for a quality, luxurious lip moisturising solution, I can really recommend this.

Tips: If you've tried the 8hr skin protectant, this is effectively a more firm, stick-version. Benefits being it's a good size to carry around, easy to apply from the stick and it's not as shiny as just applying the skin protectant from the tube.

Addicted :p

I can't get enough of this stuff! Is such a great lip balm and the lip stick version is much easier to use than the big pot. I use it throughout the day by itself or under lipstick as it is very moisturizing. SPF 15 is great but I have found its not enough to prevent burnt lips! My boyfriend also hates the strong scent.

Tips: Don't rely on this as your only lip sun protection

A Cosmetic Bag Staple

This little white tube of goodness is an absolute must for anyone who has to endure the pain of sore, dry, chapped lips. I love the fact that it comes in a lipstick case so that your fingers do not need to get anywhere near this creamy concoction. This makes it great for popping in your beach bag and for all those who are germ conscious! The product has a very neutral smell- you can smell the waxes in it and is not coloured. The formula is incredibly creamy and glides on smoothly, melting on your lips as it goes. I would be careful not to leave this cream in the sun as I can imagine it would melt pretty quickly, based on how swiftly it warms up. It has fantastic staying power- truly the holy grail of lip balms for those of us who feel like we are constantly having to re apply balm to our poor, sore lips. One huge selling point for me, is the fact that the product contains SPF 15 which truly makes it perfect for any Kiwi girl. While it is very expensive at $42, I have been using my tube at least twice daily for a month and am only half way through the tube. When I add up all the costs of the myriad of lip balms littering my life, I would happily buy forgo them and buy one tube of Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant each season.

Tips: Slip this on after giving your lips a gentle scrub with a soft toothbrush or dry flannel for a quick lip treatment

Eighth Heaven

I recommend the 8 hour lipstick to everyone! It's perfect for anyone that suffers from dry lips- of any gender. My mum recommended this to me after I was trying on matte lipsticks and I realised how dry my lips actually were. So I have now been using this for about a month and I am so happy with the results. I have the mini lipstick size and I put it on every morning before I go to work and it literally lasts my whole shift (which is 8 hours- coincidence huh). Initially I did think the smell was slightly unpleasant but once it's on I hardly notice it and the smell is just familiar now. I also purchased the balm which comes in a little pot- I use that for night time and I have been using it in on dry skin and any small cuts that I have and it works so well as it is super moisturising. I cannot believe that I went 22 years without this stuff, it has become a everyday necessity. It's also a added bonus that it is SPF 15 making it perfect on sunny days.

Tips: Like most people have said, don't wind it too far as the lipstick will snap! It works really great under everyday lipstick and the balm in the pot is also a great product for all areas of dry skin- not just the lips.

A must have

This is amazing! I first started using it when I kept getting awful dry cracked lips and nothing was healing them… until I came across this product. I put this on at night and in the morning my lips would look and feel a lot better, even the cracks were starting to heal. Whenever my lips start to feel dry and irritated, I make sure I put this on. I also use it as an overnight treatment, when I wake up in the morning my lips feel so soft and hydrated. It definitely lasts for 8 hours. This is a product I will be repurchasing and is a beauty must have!

Fantastic!!

I first used this lip balm after I got some nasty sunburnt lips at the Big Day Out. Within 24 hours my lips had started to heal nicely, they were hydrated and plump and the cracks and splits had healed up well. I used it again for 3 months before my wedding and even the makeup artist commented on how smooth they were!

Tips: Be careful if you have it in your handbag, where you leave your handbag. As it's a solid wax, it melts easily and there is nothing more heart wrenching that taking the lid off a lip gloss and finding it a melted puddle

Good product but overpriced for what it is

I picked one of these up a few years ago when I was taking Roaccutane and lip balm had become life! I had them stored in bag, pocket, pencil case, bedside cabinet, in the car etc. You get the drift! Whilst this wasn't as quite as moisturising and healing as I would have liked (the original Eight Hour Cream is better for that). It comes in a lipstick bullet case and is a very solid, clear balm.Whilst it does have a faint wiff of the Eight Hour Cream fragance, unlike the original I can't actually taste it. It does actually mkae quite a nice primer under lipstick if your lips are in good condition to start with. It's a nice enough product but nothing special for the price. I can't see myself repourchasing it as I never finished the original one I bought.

Some relief

I bought this some time last year during a Elizabeth Arden sale because a few of my friends were raving about it but it's not for me. I don't want a lip protectant stick that just "relieves" dry lips; I'd like it to heal my lips too.

It comes in a cute white cylindrical lipstick tube with the number 8 printed all over it. The "balm" as I like to call it is a an almost clear honey colour. It has a lemon like scent and generally I don't mind a fragrant lip product but this one makes my nose wrinkle - it doesn't smell disgusting just a bit strong.

When I apply, the product sits like a thin film on my lips for a few minutes and then sinks into my skin. I really love this because I feel like it's sinking into where it's needed most. Unfortunately that thought is short lived because it just relieves the dryness I have at the time but doesn't actually keep it from coming back or at least improving the condition of my lips.

Too often I find that lip products that relieve my dry lips go no further beyond that so my lips become worse and I end up having to reapply the product where it just becomes pointless. I won't be repurchasing this but I'm relieved that I'm close to panning this product.

Perfect Balm!

Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour range is incredible for dry and chapped skin anywhere on the body. I love love love that they brought out a lip protectant stick because it saves constantly squeezing the 8 hour cream tube and getting it all over my fingers haha. This glides on beautifully, moisturizes, heals, and protects like a dream. It's great for use when you're out in the sun and wind too, as it contains SPF and acts as a barrier to the elements. Be careful not to wind it up to far when you use it though - mine snapped right at the bottom so it's a bit trickier to apply now!
