Gentle & Effective

I love this cream cleanser! It is gentle on my skin but gets rid of all traces of makeup unlike many other cleanser's I have tried. I am a massive fan of coconut oil which is just one of the natural ingredients used to make this product. My skin is left feeling soft, clean and healthy.

Good cleanser, but not for removing makeup

The Goodness Everyday Cream Cleanser is a cruelty free product made right here in New Zealand with natural ingredients. It came boxed in cardboard packaging and inside contained a 150ml tube. The cleanser is supposed to remove makeup and cleanse the skin. I prefer using natural products on my skin, so I was so excited to try something new.

I first tried the Goodness Everyday Cream Cleanser in the morning when I didn’t have makeup on. I followed the instructions as directed on the packaging. I squeezed a pea size onto my palm, rubbed it thoroughly on to my wet face and washed it off with water. It had a lovely calming scent and the texture was light and smooth. I felt more awake and my skin was so soft and supple. The cleanser didn’t dry my skin or strip off the natural oils on my skin, which I loved.

I then used the cleanser before I went to bed when I had makeup on. I used it as directed and they do recommend to use it twice to remove eye makeup because they were the trickiest. I had to use more than a pea size, probably 3 times. I made sure to rub it thoroughly, especially the eye area. Even after I washed my face twice, not all my makeup would come off. Although it doesn’t state how much of the cleanser to use, I felt like I wasted a lot of the cleanser just to remove my makeup, so I wasn’t happy with that.

I didn’t like that my makeup wasn’t removed it, but I did enjoy using it on makeup free skin. I felt refreshed and awake when I used it in the mornings. I wouldn’t recommend it to use it to remove makeup, but I think it’s great to use it in the mornings or on makeup free skin.

Tips: Use a face cloth to help remove makeup with the cleanser

Decent cleanser

After seeing all the ads and reading reviews on BR, I had high hopes for the Goodness range. I was so excited to try this product, I like how the packaging is really cute and can be recycled- double points! I have been using this cleanser for over a month and it feels creamier than other cleansers. The scent is kind of cucumber-ish and a bit weird for me but the product cleanses fairly well and actually better than the Evolu, Sukin and Natio cleansers I've used before. So all in all, I will finish this product but I probably won't repurchase this due to the scent and also because I like a runnier texture for my cleanser. I think the hype pushed my expectations a bit too high.

Not my fave...

I bought this in a pack of sample sizes, as I didn't want to invest in something I didn't like. To be honest, every company should do this!

I love the color of the tube, the pastel mint green really does it for me and mixed with the design and layout of the writing its quite pleasing to the eye. The cream inside is white, thick and smells quite average, it's not a smell I like. I'm not really a fan of the screw top lids, like this one has, I prefer the pop out/open ones, but it isn't a huge deal.

Applied to my face I move it around with the pads of my fingers. It's gentle on the eyes and I can easily wash around my eye area without irritation. The cream doesn't break me out or irritate my skin in anyway, so it's quite nice. Unfortunately I didn't like the smell, as mentioned, so I probably wouldn't repurchase, but it's a good alternative if I can't find my regular.

Good Cleanser

I picked this up in a samples box - generous samples & a fantastic way to try out most of the Goodness range.

This cleanser comes in a tube and the cleanser itself is a thick cream which massages onto my skin well, covering my face with a fairly minimal amount. The scent is perfectly described by siouzsannah - Lemongrass & cucumber.

Performance wise - it's ok, it removes most of my makeup and it is very gentle on my skin, but I prefer the Goodness Breakup Makeup balm. My skin is oily/combination, so it's possible this cleanser is more suited to dry skin.

I recommend trying out the Grab n Go, Goodness try-me kit.

Goodness me

After having a skin flare up and visiting my dermatologist he said to ease back into using anything on my skin. He said avocado oil is a good starting point so I started with that and then anything else that had avocado oil as an ingredient. Along with my avocado oil by another brand.. this range was my pick. After using a sample of the chia oil and loving it I purchased the set of goodness skincare.

I am a huge fan of the chia seed oil so I had high expectations for everything else. Including the cleanser. It was pleasant smelling, not too strong - quite fresh not fruity more cucumber like. The cleanser came out easily in a creamy consistency. The tube is a generous size and so good value for money. Wipes across skin like a cream which is good for not ending up in your eyes.

But..... the problem I have with this cleanser is that I feel it doesn't cleanse my skin that well when wearing makeup. BB cream or full make up - it doesn't matter but it definitely alters the effectiveness of this cleanser as it leaves the makeup on the skin. It doesn't remove it so it can't actually get to the skin to cleanse. Even cleansing twice as it recommends for panda eyes doesn't work for me.. I'm still left with a film over my skin. No makeup - no problem it does the job leaving the skin clean. So I definitely recommend using a wipe prior.

Apart from that it has great ingredients that my sensitive skin can get away with using which is a bonus. Will definitely finish the tube but am not too sure about repurchase. I love the rest of the goodness range so it's a shame.

Tips: Remove makeup prior to use.

Goodness Doesn't Completely Remove Makeup Cleanser

I'm reasonably content with this cream cleanser as a morning cleanser. It's not to thin, the cap doesn't leak and I like the gentle natural ingredients. It has this interesting sort of parsley like smell which took a bit of getting used to but it's not on my face for very long. It does a good job of cleansing my face first thing in the morning but not the best job of removing my makeup. I still have heaps left on my skin and especially my eyes that I need to remove with an oil cleanser. If I am going to remove my makeup prior to washing my face I prefer to use a wipe or micellar water on a cotton pad as that seems to remove makeup efficiently. I would repurchase this if it was on sale because I've gotten used to the smell. That being said I'm not picky about basic natural cream cleansers that I use to cleanse my face with in the morning. I find most natural cleansers do the same easy job.

Tips: The smell came as a surprise to me so if you haven't used this before I would recommend going to a store with a tester and giving it a sniff. If you are buying this to remove your makeup I wouldn't recommend this, micellar water is gentle and much cheaper and more efficient for that.

Average Cleanser

I've used quite a few from the Goodness range, and was excited to try this cleanser! I am a sucker for products I can buy from the supermarket as part of our fortnightly shop!

Its a nice cleanser, but it is not really suitable for make up or a deep clean. It is quite light weight, and I find it never removes my mascara properly. I would use it twice when I wore make up and used a face cloth as well but will still end up with mascara on my towel!

It's great for people who need a light cleanse, or even a young person starting out with a routine, but I wouldn't suggest for make up wearers or people who need a deep cleanse.

Tips: Use it twice when you wear make up!

Not too sure about this...

I love Goodness products and was on the hunt for a good cleanser that I could use with my clarasonic that wasn't a foaming cleanser.

This product is great value for money and its great that it is all natural. The product does have a funny smell I feel like it smells like grass or something which is a bit weird.

I always use this after removing my makeup and place it on my clarasonic to get that final deep clean.

It doesnt dry out your skin which is typical of cream cleansers and it does leave your skin feeling nice and refreshed. I do like the product but I just feel like it wasn't high up their on the list. I will continue my search for a perfect cleanser.

Not great for removing makeup

This product was included in the Ball Beauty Box. I was excited to see it in there because I had just run out of cleanser and I have loved every product by Goodness that I have tried. This cream cleanser has similar packaging to the other Goodness products. The packaging is a pastel green colour and it is way bigger than I expected it to be. I feel like this product will last a very long time.

The product is a white cream colour and the consistency is on the thinner side. It has quite a strong herbal smell, which reminds me of kawakawa leaves. It feels a bit oily to me, so because of this I thought it would be good at removing makeup. But to be honest it's not.

The first time I used it was in the shower when I had a medium amount of makeup on. I applied and washed it off my face three times, even though the instructions said washing twice would be sufficient. When I wiped my face on a towel after my shower, the towel was left covered in foundation and mascara. Mascara was also smeared all over my face, so I had to use another cleanser after this one. For me this clearly wasn't an effective makeup remover.

Because of that experience, I prefer to use this cleanser when I don't have any makeup on. When I use it my skin is left feeling cleansed and smooth, but still very hydrated. It is a mild/gentle cleanser so it might not be strong enough for some people. I haven't had any breakouts because of this, which can sometimes happen when I switch skincare products.

I think this product would be great for anyone with dry skin or dry patches. If you have really oily skin, this might not work well for you. I had never tried a cream cleanser before so I wasn't really sure what to expect. It is a nice product, but since it's not great at removing makeup I probably won't repurchase it. However I will continue to use it until it has run out.
