Ole Olay!

When I was invited to trial the Olay Regenerist Regime I was less nervous than I would have been about trialing any other skin care - because I love the Olay brand. I usually moisturise twice a day using the Olay Sensitive Lotion and it's kept my skin in good condition.

I'm 53 with the usual ageing suspects, fine lines, a few wrinkles. I have a rosey complexion. I was immediately curious about the Essence - with its sleek dropper bottle it looks very fancy. I was expecting a serum but this wasn't an oily serum, it was kind of gel-like. It absorbed beautifully from the moment I applied it. Within minutes my skin was so smooth, I didn't feel the need to moisturise. (I did of course...but that's another review!)

A few weeks in of twice a day use, my fine lines have reduced, quite dramatically, in fact. I think my skin tone is more even.

It's hard to separate the two products for the review, but I think there's a synergy between them both, so I'd definitely use them both together. (This serum apparently makes the day cream more impactful, I believe that!)

I think I'll easily get 8 weeks out of the routine, maybe more, which makes the price really competitive compared to other anti-ageing products on the market. In short, I think this is a really great routine and highly recommend it. The results after just a few weeks have blown me away!

Tips: Allow the essence to fully sink in to your skin before applying the day cream.

Olay Pre-Essence

I was lucky enough to be chosen to trial this product. I am 38, with dry skin, and fine lines on my forehead. I have been using this for approximately 3 weeks: once a day at night-time. This "pre-essence" reminds me a lot of The Ordinary's Skin Buffet serum. It is similar in texture, weight, colour and application. I think it would suit people who are used to layering skincare products.

The packaging and design of the product is eye-catching and clever. It comes in a red and silver box with a picture of the product on the front. The bottle is 40ml, which is a decent amount. After 3 weeks I have used a third of the bottle at 2 drops a day. The bottle itself is red with a shiny silver lid. It has an innovative pump design to gather the serum into the stopper. The instructions say to unscrew the cap to draw the product into the dropper, and then if you press the big silver button on the lid it releases the product. It is pretty easy to use and makes using the dropper applicator simple. You can cover your face with 1 - 2 drops.

I did not really notice a huge difference, after three weeks of use, to my skin. I only used it in the evening as I did not want to use heavy skincare in the daytime. So it is hard to tell if my skin is better for using this, but it is definitely not worse. I think if you are looking for a serum along the lines of international brands that you can buy locally, then this is worth a look.

Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence

I was lucky enough to be chosen to review the Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence and Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting Cream. I have normal skin with a few mid-30’s wrinkles around my eyes and on my forehead, and I’m usually a little neglectful of a proper skin care regime as I’ve taken it for granted enjoying pretty good skin condition so far. However I have been looking for an affordable and effective skin care products to slow the signs of ageing I’m starting to see, and keep my skin in the good condition it’s currntly in, and that I can enjoy using. I think I’ve found this in these products. Firstly they’re affordable and accessible, being found in supermarkets. They both have a lovely fragrance which is important to me - I want to enjoy using the products! And most importantly, they have delivered effective results for me over the last few weeks. I can see my skin is smoother, brighter, and more even. The Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence claims to renew cells, visibly reduce wrinkles, and firm skin. My skin definitely looks fresher, wrinkles appear to be minimised and fewer, and even though I’ve suffered from a lack of sleep over these last few weeks no one has said I look worse for it, so perhaps these products are compensating for my lack of sleep and keeping me looking great! In terms of the use of the products, I loved the texture of the essence, you only need one dropper “squirt” not the recommended two, and it absorbed in nicely. I noticed a bit of residue for the first few days but this went away, just make sure you don’t use too much, and allow it time to absorb before putting on the microsculpting cream. I love the bottle. I initially thought the dropper was a bit gimmicky but it’s actually really well designed and the packaging looks modern and sleek. I did have some small breakout initially and I don't know which product caused it, it may have been the combo of using such rich products after not having used anything near as creamy for a while. This breakouts last less than a week though and my skin after the few weeks’ use is spot-free. I used a new foundation during this trial which combined with winter temperature changed dried my skin out, but after using these Olay products the dryness went away within a day. A little goes a long way with these products and that make them even more appealing, they’re definitely a worthwhile investment at a great price, and while I don’t think Ive had ten years knocked off the appearance of my skin, I’m sure with more use the benefits I’ve seen to date will only continue to grow. Definitely enjoy using the product and would buy again. I'm interesting in seeing the review of the other product in the line to see if I'm missing anything!

Tips: Ignore the recommended two pumps on the box - one is DEFINITELY enough!

Olay miracle boost pre essence

This serum is step two of a four step regimen however they don't all need to be used together. The claims on the box say it boosts skin renewal, reduces wrinkles and firms. The packaging of this product is lovely, it's an elegant red bottle with a pump in the lid that ensures you dont end up using too much. It has a slight scent and is a clear liquid with a light texture. I started off using this as instructed which was to use twice a day after cleansing and before moisturiser. After a few days I found it a bit much so reduced it down to just using in the morning. This product feels divine going on the skin, it absorbs super fast and is easy to rub in. It left my skin feeling so smooth. In the short time I have been using it I don't think it reduced any wrinkles as stated but my face does feel softer and looks brighter. This is one of the lightest, most gentle serum type products I have used that doesn't leave the skin feeling clogged.

Tips: If your skin can't handle a lot of product you could just use this serum on its own without following with the moisturiser

A light and refreshing start to your beauty regime

Firstly, I love the dispenser. It's a lot easier and more innovative than you standard dropper. I am big serum user and I found this to be on the light side which is great for those that dislike an overly oily or shiny look. It tingles slightly but not in an offensive way, just enough for me to think it's doing something. Great for under a moisturiser and it does make your skin feel plump and fresh. It does have a peculiar smell, I can't pinpoint the fragrance but you do get used to it. Fruity and perfumey at the same time. I don't really have an fine lines to say it got rid of them but I think it would assist in preventing them.

Magic In A Bottle

I LOVED the Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence!!!

It makes your skin feel velvety smooth and is so easy to apply. The packaging looks good and is also practical as the top acts as a dropper/pump. When you unscrew the lid it draws the liquid up into the dropper and then you just push the button on the top to dispense it. ONE drop is enough to get full coverage so a bottle will last you ages which makes it good value for money. It feels lovely and light when you put it on and doesn't feel sticky. It dries really quickly too and has a nice but very subtle fragrance. Your skin feels super soft as soon as it dries and just feels amazing!!!

After using the Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence my skin definitely looks smoother and softer. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Tips: One drop is definitely enough to get full coverage.

A whole new skincare category.

So I cleanse, tone, serum, oil, moisturiser, SPF..... I thought I had all the skincare bases covered. But no! What I didn't even know I was missing was a Pre-Essence! I didn't really know what a pre-essence was. Nor do I really know what an Essence is, exactly. But I was game to give it a try, and I'm really impressed. I really do need a Pre-Essence in my life! Olay Regenerist Pre-Essence is a lightwieght serum-like product, intended to be used after cleansing and toning but before serums or other treatment/moisturising steps. I love the packaging. It has a pipette applicator, which is automatically filled with the perfect dose when you unscrew the bottle cap. Then you push press the button on the top of the cap to squirt the product into your palm. I just rub it between my palms and then press my hands onto my face. It's not sticky at all and it absorbs quickly. There's no noticable fragrance. Then I apply serum, oils and all the other myriad of products that I use to hopelessly attempt to stave off the inevitable. I couldn't give it 5 stars for doing what it said it would, because I can't say for certain that I will look 10 years younger. I live in hope though! I really do think that it has helped make my skin look smoother and fresher, so I'm really happy with it.

Tips: Use morning and night on clean skin before serum.

I love, love, LOVE this serum!

I love everything about this serum.

The clever cap automatically draws up exactly the right amount for one 'dose' of the serum with the action of undoing the cap is genius. So no more wondering if you are using too much or too little for maximum effectiveness.

The top of the cap then also allows really good control of serum release. You can release a precise, small amount, work that in and then drop a little more to a new area, etc if you prefer to apply that way.

The serum has a similar consistency to a very thin clear gel and is very rapidly absorbed. It is pleasantly cool on application and does not have any unpleasant post application sensations associated with its use (unlike some other serums I've tried which variously burned, tingled, numbed or tightened).

But the best thing is what happens when you use it in combination with the Olay Regenerist Micro Scultping Cream...

Tips: Enjoy the unprecedented control afforded by that clever applicator cap. It's brilliant.

Will be buying again!

I am really enjoying this product. Love the clever dispenser, its a self loading dropper bottle, when you turn the lid it draws up the required amount. It has a dewy, liquid gel texture, and absorbs quickly into your skin, without feeling sticky. I do feel my skin is looking more youthful (wishful thinking?) and will be purchasing it again, to continue using in partnership with the micro-sculpting cream.

Tips: The only negative is I'm half way through already after only 3 or 4 weeks of use, so you do get through it fairly quickly.

Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence

I received this essence as part of a duo review opportunity along with the face cream. I’ve been using both products for over three weeks now and I wish I had taken before and after pics. The essence is nicely packaged and comes in a handy little bottle which is easy to use and dispenses the right amount of product at the push of the pump on the lid. It has a silky & smooth texture and very easy to apply over face and neck. It is absorbed almost immediately without any residual stickiness. One thing I did notice was a almost garlicky smell on the first instance as you apply the essence but then it’s gone almost immediately. It doesn’t linger so nothing to worry about. Used with the face cream, the results were noticeably amazing. Pores appear visibly reduced from first use and continuous use, twice daily over the course of three weeks not only resulted in healthier looking skin but also with a photo finish glow, with minimised wrinkles and an overall firmness and suppleness of skin. I am very impressed with this product and the face cream, so much so that I am going to buy the eye cream from this range of skin care. Highly recommend.
