A'kin Roll On Deodorant

I was grateful to be a part of this trial as I prefer natural deodorants. The scent is nice not sickly sweet more bitter which I like. This did not irritate at all and I actually tried this after shaving in the shower. I don't suffer from a lot of sweat and body odour and found it worked well. There's no signs of white marks when the clear mixture dries off which is a win. I hope this becomes available in the supermarket with a larger customer base.

I tried the lime and orange scent. It worked well at keeping body odour away and smelled pleasant like lime cheesecake at first but after a few hours it smelled a bit odd. The consistency was more watery than what I've used before but rolled on well and didn't seem to leave white marks on my dark clothing. I would be keen on trying again but in a different scent.

I tried the lime and orange roll on deoderant and it has a lovely light subtle scent. I could smell lime more than orange. It was easy to use and did dry quickly and I didn't see any white marks on clothing. It definitely worked and as it was peak summer temperatures it definitely got put to the test. I like that the container is fully recyclable. The only point of difference for me is the price. At around $15 for a 65ml bottle, it is rather expensive. I would use again if it was a lot cheaper.

I tried the lime and orange scent, which smells so good. I loved how it left no white marks, I really noticed that it didn’t stain my clothes at all. It’s definitely one of the better natural deodorants I’ve tried out. I wouldn’t say that it personally provided me with 24 hour protection, more like 12 hours in my case. I still smelled nice after about 12 hours but it didn’t last beyond that for me. It’s very gentle on the skin and doesn’t irritate which I love. Overall I would recommend as a great natural alternative.

I trialed the lime and orange deodorant and it smelt incredible, if you've ever smelt orange essential oils, it was very similar to that, I would bathe in that scent, and while it did not leave any white marks on my clothes (a huge bonus for me as I mainly wear black) unfortunately by the end of the day, I wasn't smelling too fresh. It could just be because I'm an extra sweaty gal, but I would definitely need to reapply throughout the day, which is just something I can't really do in my line of work. Worked a treat for a short night out, but I wouldn't use it for my day to day use. While it didn't provide me full coverage for the day, I still absolutely loved this deodorant, I love that the packaging is all recycled, and again, the scent is amazing, I just wish it did provide me with full day coverage. I'll be trying it again during the colder months when I'm not as sweaty, but unfortunately not a summer time deodorant.

If you wear black and like a natural deodorant this one is for you. Unfortunately for me though on one day I wore it I had a particularly stressful emotional day and I had that unpleasant ‘no deodorant aroma’. The other days from my 2 week trial were no problem and I still smelled fresh at the days end. The lime & orange I tried has a nice scent, although it could be a little stronger. It comes in a roll on just like a regular deodorant. I even braved it on a polyester uniform shirt day and was surprised I actually smelt fine all day. If I’m comparing it to my regular Schmidt’s stick deodorant I prefer the Schmidt’s since it actually feels more effective than this but if you aren’t a sweaty Betty and you change clothes often or wear dark colours this one is lovely as the formula won’t mark your clothes or pill.

Using this was the push I needed to swap to natural deodorants. However it is a big change from using aluminium deodorant. I have been wanting to swap to natural for a while as I have done it before and now being pregnant I am trying to be as chemical free as practical.

The smell is slightly over powering at first but once you get used to it it’s really fresh and a nice scent once on. Packaging is cute. For me personally it definitely was not 24 hour odour protection, I find myself having to apply it 4-5 times a day otherwise I do start to get that sweat smell. It takes some getting used to having to apply so often and also because it’s not aluminium deodorant I did feel damp under my arms for most of the day however if i was on top of reapplying there was no smell involved. I would argue quick drying also as for me it took a couple of minutes to be able to then put a shirt on in the mornings. I haven’t had any white marks on my clothing which is great. Overall I disagree with being 24 hour odour protection and quick drying however I do think it is a good product and I will continue to use it.

I really felt hopeful this product was going to be great however I felt it didn't really mask my body odour and by lunch time I was feeling panicky that people can smell me! I'm not sure if I'm just extra hormonal at the moment and perhaps none of my deos are working well anyway? I'm kinda perimenopausal! Good points were the Akin had a really nice fragrance that smells clean and woody, I used the Gerainium and Woodsy scent. It doesn't interfere with my usual perfume, however I felt by lunch time I could smell my sweat getting a bit pongy. It didn't transfer any white onto my clothes which is a plus and it said it wouldn't, so Akin have that going for them. I think I would need to try this for a bit longer to see if it's my body or the product just getting used to me! Or try another fragrance, I am a big fan of Aluminum Free Deos so I'd buy this over some other anti-perspirant if it's easy enough to get at the supermarket. I thought the packaging was easy to use, I'm impressed that it's recycled too.

I was very very excited to review this- I have a skin condition that can be worsened by using regular aluminium anti-perspirants. I loved the packaging and scent, and really enjoyed it the first time I used it, however the following 2 days I trialled wearing it all day on a busy active day to see how it handled summer sweat, and unfortunately after about 3 hours my underarms were smelly and this was quite embarrassing as I was out all day. Hopefully someday I can find a non aluminium deodorant that can do the job. I will still use this for less active days and it might be better for winter use (:

I wanted to like this because I’m all for switching to more natural alternatives. It was nice to apply, no white marks and I like the scent. However, it didn’t give me the protection I needed and halfway through the day I could smell myself which is never a good thing! It has been a particularly sweaty week or so, so maybe it never stood a chance, but my normal deodorant definitely seems to work better :(
