Wasn't what I expected

I was expecting these to mimic gel nails, for the price I wanted that as well. It is set up to make you purchase a colour and a gel topper, ok the gel topper can be reused with any other gel colour you purchase within the range but to be honest I would rather spend that money once a fortnight or more getting my nails redone at the salon.

The polish is rather thick and makes for an awkward application especially on my non-dominate hand which shakes when I am trying to do something like paint nails. It bleeds easily into the cuticles because of its thickness and takes a while to dry down enough to apply the gel topper. So I, of course, smudge it whilst waiting as I am clumsy and impatient.

The colour is fully opaque in one coat, thankful as I mentioned it is thick I would expect it to be. The topper applied a little better but noticed that after a couple of uses the top of the bottle got gunky from exposure to the air and needed cleaning.

The overall outcome was far from perfect, but if given more time to sit and steadily paint my nails with maybe some vaseline around my cuticles it isn't a bad attempt to mimic gels, the topper kept the colour in place without chips for 5 days and it remained glossy until I removed it.

Mixed opinions - depends which shade you get

I own two shades from the range -"To The Chapel" which is a beautiful sky pastel blue, and "Tippy Toes" a dusky rose pink. The two shades perform wildly differently so I've given this a 3/5 for all my ratings. The packaging is simple - a glass bottle with a black lid. The brush is quite wide which I find annoying because it makes this hard to work with for painting toe nails and pinky nails. The polish is really thick and takes quite a while to dry even in the summer heat. This isn't ideal, as you are supposed to follow up the colour polish with the Diamond top coat in the range, so that just means over an hour of wet nails once you follow all the recommended steps (I don't have the patience!!). Like other reviewers have said, it would almost be better to use this with a light to set the polish. The colours are quite opaque and beautiful though. "To The Chapel" is such a stunning blue that I got lots of compliments on and I found it wore really well without even using the gel top coat and lasted over 7 days without chipping. "Tippy Toes" on the other hand chipped quicker than normal nail polish despite being used both with and without the Diamond Top Coat - obviously the point of gel polish is to last longer than normal nail polish but that shade just didn't. So I have mixed feelings about this nail polish. The colours I have are gorgeous, but take forever to dry, and one lasts the 7 days as promised, but the other just chips after a day! So this is a bit of a mixed bag - you may get a shade that performs well or one that's a bit meh. I don't think these are the best affordable gel polishes out there, but they also aren't the worst. If you're going to give these a go, I recommend grabbing them on sale just in case you get one of the more 'meh' shades like I had.

Mixed feelings

I purchased two shades (Beginners Luck and Queen of Hearts) from Farmer's as the "chip resistant" characteristic was quite appealing. Beginners Luck is a very pale pink, shimmery tone which is very subtly pretty, whilst Queen of Hearts is a very deep, eyecatching red.

I found application quite difficult and messy due to the unusually shaped, thin brush style - product dripped easily and it was difficult to apply to the confines of the nail in comparison to other brands such as Sally Hansen Miracle Gel. Application was actually more difficult with the Queen of Hearts Shade as it appeared much thinner and runnier than Beginners Luck and was far less opaque.

The gel finish is quite nice on the nail and true to description, however, in terms of longevity, I was quite disappointed as I started to see chips after two days.

Overall, if I was going for a gel finish I'd use Sally Hansen instead as application is far more straightforward with an equally good shade range.

Tips: The formula drips easily so best to be careful not to get too much on the brush. :)

Meh

I got one of these nailpolishes in a gift with purchase promotion at Farmers. I wouldn't have chosen the colour myself - it's a muddy purple which looks brown at nighttime ( 460 Hold 'Em) and goes with literally nothing. The brush is massive. It covered my entire little nail in one stroke, which I didn't love because the first layer I put on was way too thick and I couldn't blend it out. And I don't know if it was just the colour (I see from other posters that other colours apply better?), but the application was very streaky, and there were little bubbles in it. The next coat helped a bit, but it was so thick, it took FOREVER to dry. I started applying it at 6:30pm, went to bed at 11, and when I woke up, there were marks on my nails from my sheets :(

Tips: Start applying this first thing in the morning, leave two hours between each coat, make sure you apply it as thinly as possible.

A bit disappointing because the color is pretty

Used this polish and the color looked amazing but it was thick and gluggy and took ages to dry. kinda thinking I needed a light for it to dry under like the salons.... tried it a few more times with the same result.

not fussed

I got this thinking I have finally found my solution. I cannot keep nail polish on my fingers without chipping for longer than an hour... if I even get that far. I followed instructions and did as I should and to no avail I applied it at 3 pm when my son went to sleep then by the time he woke up There Was A Chip So 1 and A Half Hours Later.all I'd done was make my son's afternoon tea

How disappointing! Thanks for saving me the same fate (I also can rarely manage a day without chipping).

Nothing to envy there!

The name Gel Envy on a nailpolish bottle alongside Revlon....gimme, gimme, gimme! The name drew me right in. I am a sucker for a gel polish because I know the stay power of competition polishes. The design of the bottle and the lack of graphics threw me off a bit but I wasn't going to let a boring and square bottle get in the way of me having perfect polish for longer than three days.

I have the shade lady luck. The texture is far less thicker than I am used to so felt a bit skeptical that the stay power was going to be there with such a thin polish. I applied two coats as I normally would and then the top diamond polish to finish it off. Normally I would go and do things and bump it or chip it off but this time I was determined to stay put until it was good and dry. Ten minutes passed and it was touch dry. Not even 24 hours in and I had my first chip and flake. Where was the stay power I thought to myself? Have I been ripped off? I trudged on wanting to give it a good go before making my mind up to hate them. Three days in, flaking, chips and scratches. Ok I admit it I am a farmers wife so help on the farm alot but I have more success with other competition gel polishes after only three days!

I gave it a few more goes with the same results. It's stay power is clearly not there and $20 for something that I could get from the $2 shop is pitiful. I did everything right from waiting until it was properly dry and drying it out in the sun to wearing gloves to protect them from chipping whilst milking but no, still no good. I am highly disappointed that a great brand like Revlon has a poor quality polish. It's a shame because I really wanted to love it.

Tips: Dry it in the sun for as long as possible to avoid chipping or scratching prematurely

Not good

I bought a few Revlon Colourstay Gel Envy polishes as well as the diamond top coat as I was tired of spending so much money at nail salons. However I was pretty disappointed with the results. I found the polish was quite thick (which I know it is supposed to give a gel effect, but it just didn't look great in my opinion). The finish was average. Also, the weirdest part was the diamond top coat made the polish develop little lumps. I tried it several times and got the same result. I even tried it on other brands of nail polish and got the same thing. Felt like I wasted a lot of money. Would never buy this range again. Disappointed as I like a lot of Revlon products.

Such a disappointment

I really didn't like these nail polishes. I was super hyped to try them, but they felt just like regular nail polish and chipped the following day.

I found them no longer wearing than regular polish, despite following the directions for use precisely. Wouldn't purchase them again and am disappointed with how much I paid for them given they're not better than normal nail polish.

Bet on love

I was at the chemist and wanted a polish for every day I thought bet on love would be a nice subtle colour. A light pink with a little sparkle to it. It comes out almost skin colour even with a couple of coats. May look better on a darker skin tone.

I wouldn’t normally pay that much for a polish but I wanted something in a hurry.

I painted my nails and they found they had small bubbles, they chipped and peeled off easily didn’t even last a week on my nails extremely disappointed in such a brand name.

Tips: Try Sally Hansen gel instead 100% better
