Coral Ambition.

I was drawn to this because of the packaging - while I have read reviews of people strongly disliking it, I think that the bright coral packaging is fun and cute.

This was picked up during a makeup sale and I am glad I didn't pay full price for it.

The colour I have is 'Coral Ambition' - which, in the tube, looks like a really gorgeous, bright coral that leans a little to the pink side of the coral palette. I was excited to give this a try as it looked really bright.

However, upon applying this, the pigmentation was a massive let down. To me they're like a 'lipstick' version of Baby Lips - they have that sheer hint of colour, but aren't pigmented enough to truly colour your lips.

They feel nice to wear and don't dry your lips out, but also don't last long on your mouth.

I think these would be excellent for those who are scared to try lipstick, or for younger people who want a hint of colour but not something with full opacity like a lipstick.

I wouldn't repurchase and was pretty disappointed that these are so sheer.

Tips: I liken these to Baby Lips - if you like those then you will probably like these. I personally prefer Baby Lips as price wise they work out a lot more cost effective.

Glad I didn't pay

I won this product free from Maybelline whichI am grateful for. To start with the packaging is greatly, so bright and fun looking. I usually use chubby sticks as a lip balm/lipstick and love those so this was up against high standards. Although I got to choose my colour I wasn't impressed when I put it on. I had chosen a plum sort of colour and instead when putting it on came out more pink. Yes it is moisturising and feels quite good going on. It doesn't last, even after having a couple sips of a drink its gone.. the fragrance is really nice though so putting it on all the time isn't too much of a hassle. Im glad I got to try it but definitely isn't my go to..

Whisper is right.

I have four of these in the shades Petal Rebel, Faint for Fuchsia, Lust for Blush and Who Wore it Redder. I purchased these online without swatching them prior which probably wasn't smart as the pigmentation is hit and miss depending on the shade.

Firstly, the packaging of these lip sticks is gorgeous. I absolutely love the simple but elegant looking clear coloured tube with beautiful silver font up the side. The coloured tube really helps when searching for a specific shade in your collection too!

I find the formulation of these lippies to be more like a balm type product than a lipstick, but, like they say in the description they are not at all waxy feeling and very creamy and moisturising on the lips. Because of this they don't last long but to be honest sometimes all I want is a bit a colour without the dryness of normal lippies. I would call this a tinted balm to be honest and when that's what I want I pull these out of my collection. The darker shades do leave behind a light stain too which I like.

The pigmentation of the shades is very hit and miss with these which is a shame. The lighter the shade the less pigmented it is.

Petal Rebel is the sheerest of the few I have and is a very pale pastel pink which adds a sheer amount of colour to the lips. Faint for Fuchsia is a bright Barbie pink in the tube but on the lips is a sheer and less intense pink. Lust for Blush is probably my favourite of the bunch and is a lovely pink nude 'your lips but better' shade. It is still sheer like all of the shades in this range but definitely transfers better than some of the other lighter shades. Who Wore it Redder is bright cool leaning read in the tube but on the lips is a cool leaning fuchsia shade that I would best describe as your typical raspberry shade. I actually really like the raspberry shade but if you purchased it wanting a red you would most certainly be disappointed.

I got mine for far below the RRP and would not run out to repurchase these at that price as most of the shades are not pigmented enough or not what you expect then to be. In saying that, I will enjoy using the ones I currently have but, just think there are better products currently on the market and to come that I would choose over these.

Tips: Choose the darker shades, as the lighter ones have little to no pigmentation. Also, make sure to swatch before buying as the shade names can be deceiving.

Great as a Quick and Easy lippy

I bought two of these Colour Whispers for about $15 at the Warehouse a couple of months ago when they were on special and they are just fabulous! The shades I bought are "Who wore it red-er" and "Oh La Lilac". The gel substance they are made out of is definitely weightless and it glides on your lips really easy. It also means that if you make a mistake or go over the edges of your lips it is really easy to get off and doesn't stain your skin or ruin the rest of your make up. I don't use a lip liner for these as you don't need one as the don't bleed!! These are definitely easy everyday lipsticks to use. The packaging is rater nice to look at and the square/rectangular shape makes them really easy to store flat or stand up. It is quite a soft colour to start out with but you can build it up a bit by applying more coats which is great because you can use the same colour in different shades. However it doesn't last as long as a regular lipstick which means you are applying it always after you each and after drinking. I do think I would pay full price for them but would definitely buy again if they were on special.

Mocha Muse

Very pretty nude shade, equal amounts of nude pink/peach and beige. Not particularly flavoured which I appreciate, smooth to apply, but formula and texture is very much a tinted lip-balm, nice over a nude liner but doesn't last very long, infact it seems to feel as if it is sliding off my lips a little as the gel-ness of it warms up. Nice packaging and shades - overall a lovely tinted balm, but don't go expecting great pigmentation or hydration.

Lust for Blush

I only have this in one shade, Lust for Blush, and I'm not planning on purchasing more shades. That being said, I don't actively dislike this product, I just think it's not particularly amazing.

The actual shade is beautiful - a perfect neutral pinky-nude that doesn't wash me out/look too Barbie-pink like many shades do. It's got decent pigmentation; it goes on fairly sheer with one swipe, but can definitely be built up to a higher opacity.

The formula is very smooth and lightweight feeling, and does glide on nicely. Although it's not drying in and of itself, I personally don't find it to be actually moisturising either, so I still wear a lipbalm underneath.

It doesn't have an offensive or really strong smell - it's slightly sweet and lollyish if I think about it, but it really isn't something that I notice if I'm applying it. It doesn't have a taste either, which is something I really appreciate.

The thing that lets this product down, in my opinion, is the lasting power. Obviously it doesn't claim to be super long-lasting, and I'm fine with that, but in reality it only lasts about an hour, if that, before it's faded mostly away. (It doesn't hold up to eating/drinking at all, but I don't really expect most lip products to do that, so it doesn't bother me.) That's why, even though I like this particular shade, and the formula is comfortable to wear, I won't be purchasing other shades, and I probably won't repurchase this shade once I've run out.

Overall: I don't hate this any way, but the lack of lasting power means I don't really recommend this to most people.

Tips: Like with any lip product, exfoliate and moisturise your lips before applying to get the best looking result. xx

Basically a Tinted Lip Balm

I only purchased one of these wee guys (in the shade Petal Rebel) - And the reason I stopped at one was because I was so disappointed. Even though I realise they are not mean to be highly pigmented the colour pay off was about a zero, and even as a balm to be honest I didn't find it all that moisturising. The shade Petal Rebel was such a pretty colour in the tube but it definitely did not translate.

The packaging I adore - it is really really pretty - But I don't want to pay $20 for just a pretty package. All in all I was pretty disappointed with the colour whispers, and I will not be repurchasing.

Sweet Nothings

I'm not a regular lippy wearer but some days I wake up and go 'blah, I feel so unwomanly' and that's when I slick one on and feel better about facing the day. This particular lipstick entered my life for an affordable $10 thanks to a Countdown special. I chose the shade Lust for Blush as it sounded naughty and I like the 'just done something fun' shade of pink that one might find flushing their cheeks after doing something fun ... So what do I think of it? The packaging is cute but I don't tend to care about packaging, it's what's in the tube that really matters. It applies easily and feels really really nice on - so smooth and creamy. The colour is a really lovely natural shade of pink - probably a few shades darker than my own lip colour which I quite like for daytime wear. Does it stay on? Not very well, you'd need to apply regularly because if you don't you end up with coloured lines in the cracks on your lips - zebra lips! In saying that it doesn't promise to give you eight hours wear so I can't really fault it for that. Long term it left my lips feeling moisturised. Would I buy again? For $10 yes. For the RRP no. At the end of the day it's a nice lippy for daytime wear when you want to feel like a grown up rather than the slave of a one year old - but for the price you can do better.

Not amazing

These are an average products overall! They go on more like a coloured lip gloss - so its difficult to get nice precise lines as you can with a lipstick. The colour payoff is relatively average - it goes on a nice colour but doesn't last very long at all. I find it completely wears off with about an hour. However, the texture is really nice and creamy - its good if you have dry lips. Probably wouldn't buy again as I prefer a really good colour payoff that lasts a long time.

Great for wearing at work

I have two shades in the Maybelline Color Whispers, Petal Rebel and Oh La Lilac. While these are not super pigmented they give just enough colour to show that I'm wearing something. I also like that they feel almost like a lip balm and don't dry out my lips. My favourite shade is the Oh La Lilac which is the perfect shade of lilac for us pale girls and I wear this a lot at work when I want a more subtle shade on my lips. I have found that Petal Rebel gives a lot less colour but looks amazing layered over top of my Nars Bolero lip pencil. The staying power of this is pretty limited, especially as soon as you take a drink of water. But they are easy enough to apply and since they don't have as much colour you don't have to be as precise with your lines. I keep mine on my desk and give myself a few top ups throughout the day (often without a mirror). While they may not be for everyone I love my Oh La Lilac and would definitely buy the shade again.
