MAC Prep + Prime Fix + Review

I recently did a MAC haul and had been dying to try this out due to the reviews on here. I have dry skin and was hoping that this would help prep my skin before applying makeup - as well as making my fave look dewy.

As I hadn't tried this I got a small (30ml) size before committing to the cost of a large bottle. I'm unsure if the large bottle is the same packaging wise (they look the same except for the size), so please note my review is for the small size.

The packaging looks nice with a frosted white container and a matte black lid. I like that you can see how much product is in left - something that annoys me is when you can't see how close you are to running out.

However... I have huge issues with the spray nozzle. If it weren't for this my review would be much, much higher. Bear in mind I could have purchased a faulty one. Anyway, the nozzle is horrendous! It squirts out in huge, erratic drops instead of a fine mist. When I apply this to my face it feels like I am being shot with a water gun! The drops are huge and aren't dispersed evenly, which means that I have to use my fingers to apply this all over my face. This is a massive fail for me and I hope that I got a faulty one, as I really like the product itself.

The fluid applies clear and doesn't have a scent. When using this to prep my skin before makeup (but after moisturising), it makes my skin feel cool and refreshed - as well as hydrated. I love the feeling this gives my skin and, as I mentioned above if it weren't for the horrendous spray nozzle this would get 5 stars.

I also use this after applying my makeup and it makes my skin feel fresh and look dewy. It isn't greasy and feels lightweight. I really love the natural, healthy glow this gives my dry skin - even though I have to use my fingers to disperse the product evenly.

Overall I really do love the way this make my skin look and feel, but I HATE the spray nozzle. If I had purchased the full size and encountered this I would send it back. I would repurchase this again as it is a lovely product for dry skin, but I would also be hesitant because of the spray nozzle.

The prep + prime (Fix +) range is a range that has been designed to be used together. This is why I would only recommend if you use other mac products in this range. If you don't you will not see the same affects and it may not actually help set your make up at all. I also would only recommend if you use a mac powder foundation as your foundation or as your setting powder.

I use this with my mac studio fix powder foundation and it works a treat, i love the way it settles the powder and sets it giving it the most amazing looking finish to my skin.

Over all for the price and what it does I would buy it again providing I am still using my mac studio fix powder.

This product retails at $38 nzd and I brought mine from Kirkcaldie and Stains department store. The packaging is very convenient almost frosty bottle with white MAC labelling and a black twist lock cap to ensure no spillage.I use this product for a couple of purposes to set my powders down, to refresh my makeup and to makeup my eyeshadows more pigmented. All the ways I use MAC fix + does an amazing job. The spray when it comes out of the bottle is very fine and sprays nicely and not in big wet clumps, it doesn't move my makeup when sprayed. If you have a problem with cakey powder and it not sitting nicely on your skin test out MAC fix + it really settles all your powders down into your skin to make it look flawless. After a long day and your makeup doesn't look as fresh as it was at the start when you first applied it spritz some MAC fix + and it does the trick of refreshing your makeup The scent is hard to explain but very light.If you have eyeshadows that you want to be super pigmented load it up on your brush and spray so fix + and put onto your eyelid and it becomes soooo pigmented love doing this. Overall awesome product it doesn't particularly help with long longevity of makeup but does refresh and it claims and settles down powders.

I love this product and received it as a gift last year - thanks Mum! At first I was unsure at what stage in my makeup routine I was meant to use this but quickly decided I liked it best after I had applied my foundation/powder. This product goes on well, sits on skin then sinks it to hydrate my face like nobody's business! I have also found that it helps my powder to set on my foundation and leaves a nice dewey finish to my face makeup. I am definitely going to replace this product once it runs out but so far it has lasted me for a while so I give it a big thumbs up in terms of value for money and longevity!

I was really sceptical about this because it just seemed like fancy water. But wow it's fantastic, i use it everyday after applying my powder to set it all down and make it all look more natural. Because adding this makes it seem less powdery and a little more dewy. I don't find that it prolongs the wear of my makeup. But it makes it look so much better. I also use it for pigments when I use them on my eyes. It makes them look more foiled and pigmented. Will continue to repurchase forever!

I purchased MAC Fix+ over 6 months ago, and it has spent its life so far at the bottom of my drawer. After finally pulling it out and putting it to use I was kicking myself for not using it earlier. I wear full coverage makeup on a daily basis. I use Loreal True Match liquid foundation, MAC pro-longwear concealer under my eyes and my whole face is finished off with Australis Fresh and Flawless powder. This combination of products isn't intended to give a natural finish, but I also don't want to look cakey. There have been many occasions where I look cakey, almost like I have some scary skin disease I am hiding underneath it all.

MAC Fix+ is the final step in my makeup routine. If I am needing my makeup to really last, I will spray the Skindinavia setting spray first, followed by MAC Fix +. The spray does give you a little fright at first, as it feels like you have squirted a whole lot of water on your face, rather than a mist. However the results are amazing. Any powdery finish or cakeyness is gone, and a fresh, flawless finish is left behind. I don't loose any coverage, but it looks like I have used far less product to achieve a flawless finish. It does take 30 seconds or so for the product to settle, but I couldn't stop staring at my skin when it had. I have combination skin that can get a little oily during the day, and this product is perfect. I wouldn't describe the results as dewy, it just removes any powdery appearance. MAC Fix+ would be the perfect companion for anyone with dry skin.

There are multiple ways to use MAC Fix+. It can be sprayed before and after makeup application, onto foundation brushes and onto eyeshadow brushes to intensify colours. The product is available in full and mini sizes, so if you are unsure about this product the mini would be a great option.

I've owned the MAC Fix+ for about 6months now and I can't imagine my life without it. If I am ever having a day where I want to have dewy skin or a 'not too powdery' makeup look I will use this over my makeup once I have put powder on.

Here's a few things which I love about it:

• It makes all hairs and powders settle down on my face and it stops the powder clinging to any dry patches on my skin

• It makes my skin have a glowy look to it - I don't know how it does it but it does!

• This is awesome for summer in the hot weather and your skin is feeling a bit dull or dry I will use this before and after makeup application and it works wonders.

• I also use this for if I want an eyeshadow to be more pigmented - i'll spray my brush with Fix+ and then it'll make the shadow stick on better and a lot more pigmented.

I initially bought the 30ml travel size but have now purchased the 100ml and I will definitely be re-purchasing this - it's a must have!

I love the pump on it as it's not an aerosol can or awkward pump head so I find I can spray it easily.

Is a great product for spraying over your face once you have completed your make up. It is very nourishing and refreshing on my skin. It is also great for intensifying your eyeshadows.

I decided to purchase this after watching many reviews on youtube and wow it has certainly made a difference! I purchased a small bottle on trade me to try it out first. I definitely will be buying the bigger bottle once the smaller one has run out.

I have had a lot of dry patches lately and this spray has been great for fixing these dry patches once i have put my makeup on

I purchased this after reading rave reviews, and noting that a few people on this site mentioned it as a must-have. I was lucky enough to have a friend visit the States and bring one back, so I paid less and didn't pay postage. Which I am now glad for, seeing as the product did not live up to my expectations.

What I was intending to use this for was a setting/finishing spray. And I have dry skin, and love a dewy look, so I thought this would be perfect. Unfortunately, I have found it just doesn't work like that. When I spray it on after applying foundation or powder or both, it makes me looks sweaty, and it makes my makeup last LESS, which is disappointing.

I also have issues with the spray nozzle; so much comes out in one jet, and you have to hold it so far away from your face (arms length), otherwise you get one squirt right to the face in one spot! It doesn't cover your whole face. To rectify this, and try to make a mist, I have taken to spraying it up in the air and walking through the mist cloud/putting my face underneath; but I don't like that I have to do that, as it seems a waste of what is a very expensive product!!

As others have mentioned, I have eventually settled for using this as a face refresher UNDER make up; or as a sealer for applying directly to eyeshadow brushes, for a foiling effect.

I wouldn't repurchase this again, and am still looking for a setting spray/finishing mist.

Mac Fix+ has been a long time pal of mine, i have loved it since the first SPRITZ! Weather its being used to finish your makeup, or foil an eyeshadow this product can do no wrong! I am a lover of dewy skin, but foundation always seems to rub off during the day, so i always have to set with a powder, i was running into the problem of m skin looking really powdery and borderline cake-y and i was not a fan! but then i bough Fix+ and my life changed! this product is amazing for setting your makeup and adding moisture back into your skin! if you've over powdered just spritz a bit of fix+ and no one will ever know!

I love the packaging i thing it is amazing! and you get a nice amount of product, i find myself drowning myself in it daily and it will last me a good 4-5 months, and for only $38 that is brilliant!
