Matte lipsticks - insane pigmentation!

I've been using MAC lipsticks for the past 7 years and I can't imagine my collection without them. Having said that, I do find that regardless of the finish they can be quite drying on me and I know I'm not alone in this.

Funnily enough my favourite finish is matte. The pigmentation is insanely rich and true to colour. I love that they do not budge or fade as easily when eating or drinking or heck even breathing! On me they last a good 5-6 hours before I have to touch up the edges.

Out of all the finishes they are the most drying and I encourage beauties to use a lip conditioner or treatment before and after use (do not get lazy about it - trust me).

I notice with the limited edition mattes they tend to tug more at the lips while the permanent range not so much. There are the odd few shades that apply patchy (limited edition "Talk that Talk" / "Riri Woo") but nothing a thin layer of lip balm can't fix.

I highly recommend "Riri Woo" (or "Ruby Woo" - permanent range) - a rich blue based red and "Kinda Sexy" - brown nude. Or if you prefer a pink nude then "Mehr" may tickle your fancy. I buy the majority of my lipsticks from MAC online (US) and odd few occasions from our own NZ stores if the US has sold out. I would recommend MAC lipsticks more so for colour range.

Tips: If using the matte lipsticks prep your lips in advance and then treat them after you remove the lipstick. I exfoliate using ELF lip exfoliator then go in with my Blistex Lip conditioner.

Whirl

It's been long time I want to try Mac lipsticks. Online and youtuber and even On BR highly rated lipsticks. So that's encourage me to buy it. I bought whirl lipstick from farmers. I spent 40$ for one lipstick. With high hope.

Packaging is okay. It is looks like black bullet. Didn't get good packaging what I spent. You can see lipstick name back of lipstick. When I asked lady on counter to saw me some nude lipstick. She did saw me some of lipsticks. But whirl colour catch my eyes. And she said it is matte finishing and I said its perfect then.

I do have dry lips and I do exfoliate my lips twice a day for matte lipsticks. Whirl is dusty or dirty rosey colour. Perfect nude but not nude lipstick colour. I was looking this type of colour for long time and finally I found it. Right now I am looking whirl dupe but little creamy formula.

Lipstick is last up to 4 hours on my lips and than after start fading. During that time I drink water and have some light dry snack. I does dry out my lips however I like it because I love lipstick colour

When lipstick is on my lips, doesn't feel heavy or dry but after 5 hours my lips feel dry. Colour is nice pigmented, just one swipe and it's done. I want to dry some different colours and different finishing too. But wouldn't buy from farmers. Definitely next stop will be duty free mac.

Tips: Exfoliate lips, apply lip blam and after one minute apply lipstick.

Not worth the hype

To start, this IS a good lip stick, however I just personally wouldn't be bothered spending that much money on this lipstick, it's simply not THAT incredible (that being said it is a very good lip stick I just feel you can get better quality for your money). But I do love some specific colours and would definitely purchase again for specific colours!

It's ok

I love the range of colours available in MAC lipsticks and they go on nice and smooth with good pigment. I find them to be very drying on my lips. I exfoliate, moisturise and drink plenty of water but MAC lipsticks still leave my lips dry when others don't. I also find that others last much longer and don't come off so easily when I eat. I think they are alright for the price but if another brand had the same colour then I would buy that instead even if it cost me $5 more.

Tips: MAC lipsticks are very creamy and shiftable so it pays to use a lipliner on most shades to keep the outline in shape

Soft and creamy

MAC have a fantastic range of lipsticks, and the colours on offer are fantastic! It goes on really soft and easy, has a great creamy feel. But I do wish that it lasted longer, it just seemed to come off too quickly compared to some other lipsticks that I own, that are from 'cheaper' brands.

on the fence :/

im gonna say all the fuss made over mac i thought they would be amazing and id be hooked but that wasn't the case ill admit their lipsticks are okayyyyy but i much rather prefer my wet n wild ones over the mac, they bleed like crazy i find and they wear off too quick for the price you pay! wet n wild are $3 off beautyjoint and have heaps of dupes for the mac lipsticks. high end brands are not always the better ones i find. i tried the mac 'rebel' one

xx

MAC

i love love love MAC lippies, i have been very addicted to buying alot of these lately and they are a staple to my makeup collection. my favorite shades are Heroine, Hue, Candy Yum Yum & Saint Germain. They are extremely pigmented, have staying power on the lips with insane color pay off :) they arent drying or irritating and the vanilla scent is nice.

On the Fence... but I don't want to be!

After hearing all the fuss and hype about MAC lippies, it was only a matter of time before I buckled and bought one. I purchased it on sale, which was a huge bonus as the RRP is pretty steep for a lippy.

The colour I have is Candy Yum Yum. It's a bright, bright candy pink in a Matte formula.

Now, I love the colour; it's flamboyant and everything I'm drawn to in a lipstick shade. I'm a pink fan through and through, so it's perfect in that sense.

Where I am on the fence is the formula. When I apply it, I find that it's a mix of sheer and opaque - i.e it's an uneven finish. The matte-ness makes it quite dry, and it tends to give a 'cracked' appearance.

Now, I DO have drier lips than most, so this could be exasperating the effect, but in all honesty, compared to some other cheaper brands of mattes I have, I did expect more from the famous MAC.

I have not given up on it, however! It's just a little bit more high-maintenance to wear, so I need to prep and take a bit more care with it.

I would definitely purchase another MAC lipstick, but I think I'll avoid their Matte's. (Haha, depending on the colour. Colour comes first - right ladies?)

Tips: Prep those lips before you apply!

Mac Matte lippies...super drying!

MAC definitely has the best colour range, however their matte collection, while it lasts fantastically, it is incredibly drying on the lips! i had dry lips for a few days afterwards...not worth it! Unfortunately their 'cult' colours, the really amazing shades like ruby woo, lady danger etc only come in matte, and not in their other collections!

Smells delicious!

Well this is awkward, it seems I'm the black sheep in this MAC lipstick owning family.

Firstly, I own Honeylove, which is a Matte. I love the colour of this one! It's a gorgeous browny nude, a good alternative to Velvet Teddy for those with a fairer complexion.

I also own Modesty, which is a Cremesheen. This is the perfect every day 'your lips but better' colour, it suits so many people!

They do smell incredible, but the issues I have with these lippys are: 1) The matte formula is incredibly drying (duh, Sarah) no, but more drying than other mattes in my collection 2) The matte also leaves that dreaded filthy ring around the inner rim of my lips *dry retches* 3) The cremesheen formula is super creamy (again, duh Sarah) but it wears off in what feels like minutes. I feel like I have to reapply 6704 times per day 4) The price tag, $40? Phwoar!

I just feel like I have other lippys that perform the same, for half the price, if not less. MAC is great because they have a seemingly unlimited selection of lippys, so if you can't find a colour/finish in other brands, you might have luck finding it with them, however, I will be looking at more affordable brands in future before looking at MAC.

I will still be going to MAC for all my other loves though! Tehe.

Tips: If you have your heart set on getting a MAC lippy, because let's face it, every girl needs one in their collection to feel that extra bit of glam, I would recommend finding reviews on the one you wish to purchase firstly.
