It's been long time I want to try Mac lipsticks. Online and youtuber and even On BR highly rated lipsticks. So that's encourage me to buy it. I bought whirl lipstick from farmers. I spent 40$ for one lipstick. With high hope.
Packaging is okay. It is looks like black bullet. Didn't get good packaging what I spent. You can see lipstick name back of lipstick. When I asked lady on counter to saw me some nude lipstick. She did saw me some of lipsticks. But whirl colour catch my eyes. And she said it is matte finishing and I said its perfect then.
I do have dry lips and I do exfoliate my lips twice a day for matte lipsticks. Whirl is dusty or dirty rosey colour. Perfect nude but not nude lipstick colour. I was looking this type of colour for long time and finally I found it. Right now I am looking whirl dupe but little creamy formula.
Lipstick is last up to 4 hours on my lips and than after start fading. During that time I drink water and have some light dry snack. I does dry out my lips however I like it because I love lipstick colour
When lipstick is on my lips, doesn't feel heavy or dry but after 5 hours my lips feel dry. Colour is nice pigmented, just one swipe and it's done. I want to dry some different colours and different finishing too. But wouldn't buy from farmers. Definitely next stop will be duty free mac.
I've been using MAC lipsticks for the past 7 years and I can't imagine my collection without them. Having said that, I do find that regardless of the finish they can be quite drying on me and I know I'm not alone in this.
Funnily enough my favourite finish is matte. The pigmentation is insanely rich and true to colour. I love that they do not budge or fade as easily when eating or drinking or heck even breathing! On me they last a good 5-6 hours before I have to touch up the edges.
Out of all the finishes they are the most drying and I encourage beauties to use a lip conditioner or treatment before and after use (do not get lazy about it - trust me).
I notice with the limited edition mattes they tend to tug more at the lips while the permanent range not so much. There are the odd few shades that apply patchy (limited edition "Talk that Talk" / "Riri Woo") but nothing a thin layer of lip balm can't fix.
I highly recommend "Riri Woo" (or "Ruby Woo" - permanent range) - a rich blue based red and "Kinda Sexy" - brown nude. Or if you prefer a pink nude then "Mehr" may tickle your fancy. I buy the majority of my lipsticks from MAC online (US) and odd few occasions from our own NZ stores if the US has sold out. I would recommend MAC lipsticks more so for colour range.
Tips: If using the matte lipsticks prep your lips in advance and then treat them after you remove the lipstick. I exfoliate using ELF lip exfoliator then go in with my Blistex Lip conditioner.
