I was given a Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in the shade Showy as a gift and I am really pleased that I was able to give this (fairly) new range from Revlon a go.
The Colourburst range look like large crayons that are easy to apply to your lips. I really like the colour that I was given - Showy. It is a nice pink shade that is a good every day lip colour. The Balm is very moisturising on my lips and has average staying power of about 2-4 hours, depending on if you are eating or drinking etc.
The Matte range is very pigmented and the crayon-type applicator means it is very easy to apply. I like my Colourburst Matte Balm and want to try more colours in the range!
Is there anything cuter than a crayon lipstick? It could teeter on the edge of cutesy, but Revlon have created a crayon that manages to be adorable, whilst still being sophisticated. Yes, I do like the packaging.
I own one of these in the shade 'Sultry', and the colour is stunning on my skin tone. Every time I wear it I receive a compliment, and who doesn't like that?
But do I like the product, apart from the packaging, and the colour? Yes, mostly. The balm goes on so smoothly, and the crayon makes it really easy to define and fill your lips. It glides on, feels moisturising, and the colour payoff is intense. It also has this really yummy minty smell - it doesn't hang around, but it does make for a delicious application experience.
Stickability? It has it. It's often still on my lips after a few hours, however for some reason I end up with the lipstick sticking around the outer rims of my lips (up until about .5cm in) and the the inner part of my lips becomes bare very quickly, (and it happens whether I'm eating/drinking or not at all), and I end up with an unfortunate two tone effect. This may not happen for everyone, this could be a Kellie-quirk. But it's enough for me to stop giving it top marks, as I don't generally have the time to touch up my lipstick every hour, which is why I prefer either a lipstick that fades evenly, or one of those amazing new lipsticks that you need makeup remover in order to get it off your lips.
It's that one little thing that stops this being a lipstick that I reach for on a daily basis. I tend to use it now only when I'm off for a quick client appointment. Still, I'd recommend this matte balm, because it really is rather fabulous.
