Makes Eyelids A Blank Canvas for Brighter Shades

I have only used a couple of eye primers but this one was definitely better than the other one I had been using for years. The one I was using came in a pot and this came in a tube. Personally I preferred the tube because if you're going to hold on to makeup as long as I do you're going to want the most hygienic options you can find, right? Plus I have long nails at times and don't like getting products under my nails. The eye primer is white which provides a nice blank canvas that makes your brighter eyeshadows and eyeliners stand out more. I have oily monolids and this keeps my eye shadow in place and brighter for hours. I do have to make sure though that wherever I put the primer I have make sure gets covered with eyeshadow, otherwise the stark white detracts from the look. I find that it makes not just bright colors stand out, but any eyeshadow I apply over it looks truer to the shade it is in the pan and the same with my eyeliner pencils. I do experience some creasing and fading at probably around the six hour point, especially if the quality of my eyeshadow isn't as good at staying put or isn't matte. The primer doesn't irritate my eyes and goes on smoothly that is until it hardened. The major con for me about this product is that it is very, very difficult to get out of the pretty peach tube. The product seems dried out near the top of the tube and it is really hard to squeeze out the dried out portion doesn't go on smoothly either. When I do my eye makeup I don't have lots of time and so I find not being able to easily squeeze the product out of the tube kind of frustrating. Because of that I probably won't repurchase this.

Tips: I like to take a very tiny amount on an angled or fine pointed eyeshadow brush and apply it to my lower waterlines to prep it for colorful liner. If you do buy this do keep in mind that this product seems to harden in the tube and so be prepared to part with it or just buy another eye primer.

Your eyes are a canvas!

I love the Lime Crime brand, so I thought I’d give Eyeshadow Brightener a go since I’ve been looking for a great eye primer. I was lucky to get it on sale for $20. It came in very cute packaging and the tube was easy to carry around.

I squeezed a tiny amount onto my finger and rubbed it onto my eyelids (a little goes a long way). I found it to be fast drying and it had a canvas like texture on the eyes. I applied my desired shadow per usual and noticed the Lime Crime Eyeshadow Brightener intensifies the shade and holds the eye shadow for hours.

The Lime Crime Eyeshadow Brightener is a great product and my favourite eye primer. It’s definitely worth trying!

Tips: Use your fingers instead of a brush otherwise it dries fast.

helps create high impact, long lasting colour!

I picked this up at a store in Dunedin who had all Lime Crime at half price. $20 seems like a more reasonable price to pay, but I do concede that you don't use a lot of product at a time so it would last a while. It's of slight concern that it has a 12M expiry date as for how much you use and the full $40 pricetag this seems like you'd reach the expiry date before reaching the end of the tube...hardly ideal.

The Lime Crime Eyeshadow Brightener comes in a funky box - that is soon disposed of though if you're anything like me! The product is in a cute peachy coloured tube with metallic rose-silver polka dots and a screw cap in the same metallic shade. The dispenser is a nozzle, which allows for cleaning (I use a cotton round sprayed with micellar water) and easy access to the product.

The product is a very thick white cream. You seriously need only the tiniest bit! I use either my fingertip or a concealer brush to apply this to my eyelids (have also used it on my face for a costume party makeup look with no ill effects and it can help blush really pop too).

You simply apply a thin layer of this as an eyeshadow base. I also have Urban Decay's primer potion (in Eden) and can compare the two. This product excels at making colours brighter, giving them more impact and real 'out there' pop. It seems to also ultra mattify lids. Both wear extremely well, but the Lime Crime is slightly harder to remove.

People all have their opinions about how Lime Crime is managed; I like to stick to product reviews and as far as an eye product goes, this is pretty good. It's a multi-use product and it certainly delivers what it promises. If you're a fan of bright, dramatic looks, or struggle to get colour to show on your skin tone, this will help for sure.

Tips: Blend it in well - noone needs a streak of white under their colour that's still visible!

Interesting wee tube of goodness!

I brought this off the Lime Crime website a few months back. It was a add to the cart on a total whim!

I really like the wee tube. It's cute. It screams Lime Crime and unicorns! To remove the cap it's a twist top. It takes heaps of twists to unscrew which I really like.

Now my first and second attempts with this were a bit mucky but still worked. As the actual product is really really really thick, squeezing it out is hard! So needless to say I squeezed out to much. Anyway honestly you only need a teeny tiny amount. As I had to much I rubbed it right around my whole eye, including under it. It seemed to erase by black bags of luggage sitting under there. It does take a bit of effort to rub around.

Using this under a skin toned shadow or light colour makes the shadow show up instead of vanishing into your skin tone. Using it under a dark colour or smokey eye makes it look boom! Amazing.

Now here is where Lime Crime may not like me much, if you were figuring out if you need the Brightener or the helper, I'd go for the Brightener myself. The Brightener brightens as well as sticks to your eye. It holds the shadow stuck in place as well. It's not a sticky feel but I personally find myself that it's more of a 2 in 1 product

Put that concealer away, this hides dark circles

Now I brought this brightener as I was told that it helped to boost the Venus colours, even though I find them pigmented enough, being the fan I am I just had to get it a see what it was hyped to be.

The packaging of Lime Crime never fails to bring a smile to my face so when I was sat with this tube still encased in its box I still was happy, its pale pink with shiny foil pink dots over it, very girly, very me!! Inside the box the tube echoes the outer casing with the pale pink and foil shiny accent dots and lime crime logo, complete with a shiny pink foil type screw on lid.

First thing you need to know is that the formula is very thick and seems to be hard to get out, but this is for a reason, you don’t want to be getting heaps of this out at once, as once out you can’t put it back, and on my first attempt I popped out (after a good squeeze of the tube) the amount of other eyelid primers I have used in the past, but ended up only using about a 5th of what I had, resorting to wiping the precious liquid off my finger with a tissue and refusing it. So you may think that Lime Crime have done wrong in the packaging being too stiff to get the product out, but honestly it is a good thing as you can only get the right amount out at one time, no one likes to waste product, especially when it’s not the cheapest of make up to begin with.

So you have the tiny dot on your finger, what next? Well I applied this over my lids, up to the brow line and then under the lower lids, covering the dark circle there under my eyes, as not only does the tiny dot do both eyes, it melts slightly to the heat of your skin and blurs down quite a way, but its not totally absorbent it leaves a faint white hue over the areas you have covered, this is what sits under your eye shadow like a back light that gives the colours you then apply over top to really stand out and shine. As a secondary surprise I found that this brightener worked far better at concealing my under eye dark circles then the actual concealer I usually use, so I have now left that part out of my makeup routine, and after applying BB cream or foundation go straight to priming my eyes with this brightener potion.

It lasts all day, keeps your eye shadow in place and vibrant. Used with lesser pigmented eye shadow brands that I own I found that it also helped to up their game, so has saved a couple of palettes from being thrown away. Very worth the spend on this product it extends the life of your other makeup and hides dark circles.
