I liked it.

I used one the other day and was pleasantly surprised by the heats it reached, I've read the reviews others have made saying it wasn't that effective but found it was effective enough for on the go heat therapy. I found it maintained a level of heat for a long period of time and used a little bit of medical tape to keep it on as it started to lose slight stickiness. I would use it again for sure!

Tips: Little bit of medical tape to keep it sticky is a really good idea and consider placement for comfort by sitting down with it in positions before removing the sticky pads as it doesn't bend a heck of a lot so comfort wise can be a little awkward.

Whoops, forgot to add, I found putting on my "period panties" and putting it over the hotties not only helped keep it in place but it achieved more heat almost like an insulation.

Please make hotter

Suffering from Endo, I was very excited to try this product, I spend many nights with a traditional wheatbag on my tummy.

I like how discrete and portable this product is, allowing me to use it in places without a microwave or where it would be inappropriate to have a wheat bag. Such as at my wedding which is what these were purchased for.

Unfortunately they don't get as hot as I would like to provide much relief. But they do make me a little more comfortable and feel like I am doing something. I also found I only got around 2 hours of warmth not the five advertised on the packet.

Being a bit bigger sized would be an improvement.

Not a substitute for a wheat bag but a portable option!

Tips: Also handy when you are cold, such as rugby games or camping!

great idea

I bought a pack of these once and used them on my way to work and when i was at work. They are a fantastic idea, but i found the heat didn't last very long. I wold prefer to spend my money on a wheat bag and heat that up and reuse.

A life saver on those bad cramps days

These may be expensive if you're going to use them every day but for those really really bad days they're a lifesaver. They stay hot for a really long time and reduce cramp pain a lot. Loving them!

Hotties!

These little patches really are like hot water bottles! I still have a couple of them left, and really enjoy using them. The portableness of them is a fantastic idea as they are discrete and small and can easily fit under your shirt undetected. The only downside would be depending on where you stick it, too much movement or fiddling with the adhesive can cause it to become unstuck! Its amazing that this small package can go from nothing to the heat intensity it reaches

Tips: Try not to readjust it or move it around as once it is stuck down and you try to re stick it on the adhesive becomes a lot less sticky!

More superficial comfort than anything else. . .

The first day of my period is always cramp city, and so anything that promises to help with that gets a go!

Obviously you can't place these directly on the source of womanly monthly pain - they go on the outside of where it hurts. For me, as for most, that's lower belly.

Libra Hotties Heat patches certainly aren't discreet in their bright blue and orange packaging - but the packaging is clear and distinctive, and instantly vibes warmth. They also don't look like a 'period product' per se - and indeed, you can use these on other spots of sore/tender muscles etc, like back, shoulders and feet.

You open the package, extract the heat patch, and remove the adhesive seals and random paper cover from the centre. These begin to heat up on contact with the air - it's a slow process, which can take up to an hour to be noticeable.

The adhesive is reasonable (even if it does resemble the adhesive on pads, and probably is the same one they use for those!) and allows you to place the patch directly, and cover it with clothing.

Once adhered, the patch is almost undetectable, unless you're wearing tighter clothes (and who does that during their monthly?).

These heat up noticeably, but not to the degree I was expecting initially. It's a pleasant warm sensation, rather than the heat you get from a hot water bottle etc. It lasts a decent length of time - but you're advised not to sleep with them on so that's of more use during the day.

These cure exactly nothing, but (much in the same way a glass or wine or some chocolate can help fix a bad day) they actually do make me feel better. Maybe it's a placebo effect. Maybe it's the simple comfort of doing something to help. Maybe it is actually the heat. Who knows. But they're worth having on standby for those 'omg ow I hate being a chick today' days :)

Tips: Go to one of the Japanese shops (if you're near one, anyway) and you can get a much bigger pack of a very similar product for cheaper. They're called 'kairo' in Japanese and you can get adhesive ones as well.

Heat patches

I was not impressed with these. I get horrible cramps on the first 2 days of my period so I was excited to try these whilst at work. After sticking the pad to my lower tummy i went about my normal work day. Waiting for the pad to heat up it stayed slightly warm. My hands felt warmer than this. I was expecting heat like a hot water bottle but it was nothing like it. I have one left so I'll give it another try. Hopefully its better

That's a no, from me!

I had heard a few things about this here and there in the BR Forums and around the place, and so when I found them at Countdown for $5ish dollars and I couldn't wait to get my period (who says that!?!) to use them.

I didn't really read the box when I bought so I was disappointed to see only two foil packets. Finally the big red day came and with it the mother of all cramps. I was almost bed ridden but then I remembered I had these things so I dragged my broken body into the bathroom to get one. I ripped open the packaging and as I pulled off the sticky labels off I read the packet.

The sticky patch is, ironically, pad shaped. It's mostly a big square of black under the white protective fabric and two sticky wings on each end. The paper on the sticky's was hard to get off and I ended up ripping the paper several times before getting it off fully. The hot pad heats up in the natural air, and even after all of this I felt no warmth coming off of the heat pad. I stuck it to myself anyway and hoped for the best.

An hour later, I still couldn't feel any heat coming from the hot pad. I carefully pulled the sticky's off, which was mildly uncomfortable in its own, but the pain took my mind off the cramp briefly. I kept it in my pocket but it didn't get any hotter than lukewarm. My cramp required something a bit more than lukewarm, but I don't think I got a dud. I wouldn't buy these again, and I hate to be a hater but I found these absolutely useless.

I only just noticed these reviews - I've never heard of this product before. If they worked I would've tried them on my sore muscles, but now I won't. Great review Shaz, thanks.

So Handy!

These are so handy! I get extremely bad period pains and it is the worst thing when I'm out and don't have anything to relieve them. Just go to the bathroom stick one of these on and go! No one will even be able to tell it's there hiding under your clothes.

Discreet

I founds these okay and great for if you experienced period pain whilst at work. They are discreet and do help with the pain.

They are not as good as a good old hot water bottle or wheat bag, but for discreetness out in public, I am quite happy with them.

They did come unstuck quite easily, but at the same time I would be hesitant to make them stickier (for allergy reasons). You just have to get it on the right place the first time! Do be aware I find if you use them more than twice in a row, you may have a reaction to the adhesive, as with what happened with me. Just give it a day or so in between uses so as to not irritate your skin!

The most important thing is that they helped - even if just a little bit! I mainly use them for sleeping - if I can get a restful nights sleep then I can conquer anything! Also note these are great for any other abdominal pain besides just period pain - eg. IBS episodes, stomache bugs or abdominal migraines can also benefit from these!

Tips: Great for at work or outside of the house. Also great for anyone with any other abdominal issues.
