L'Oréal Paris ELVIVE Total Repair 5 Restoring Shampoo

I was quite excitied to recieve the shampoo as since my daughter was born my hair has been herendous! The consistancy was nice but the smell was nothing great. After washing out the shampoo (over a 2week trial) i always found it left my hair stripped. It felt more dry and fragile.

So ive taken a long time to trial this product and review it. This was a hard one to judge. I received the shampoo and was so excited to try as my hair is severely damaged from bleach. I loved the dull smell it had and the smooth creamy texture of the shampoo. It felt lovely spreading through! My hair went instantly silky (which is unusual for me as I always have to condition straight after to get silky hair with no knots), my hair felt great and had abit of life coming back. So the first few washes went well. Then about a week after i started using it, it all changed. Did the normal wash but when washed it out instead of silky smooth hair I had matted knots and more breakage than normal. When my hair dried it felt like horse hair. It was nearly impossible to put a brush through. I did nothing different and the only product I was using in conjunction with the shampoo was the matching conditioner. So I was very disappointed. I ended up getting some leave in spray to get the knots untangled. I tried brushing my hair in the shower and it matted back up as soon as I dried my hair. Im not particularly happy with the product myself and personally wont use it again. I hope its just because my hair is too damaged for it and that others had a good experience :)

I have been using this for about 2 weeks now and have mixed thoughts on it. I love the bottle and the fact it can rest on the lid ensuring you can get maximum out of it. I also like the colouring of this bottle...I think it looks nice in the bathroom against the white. The shampoo itself was creamy opaque colour which I found interesting as all my other shampoos have been clear colour. This foams quite a bit so you only need to use a minimal amount. It didn't really feel like it cleaned my hair all that well, although in saying that, my hair was definitely not greasy afterwards. I wash my hair on average twice a week and found that this was still ok using this shampoo. With other shampoos it feels quite squeaky clean after rinsing, but with this, it feels like you could almost skip the conditioner. Perhaps this has something to do with the repair element of this. The smell of this was nice the first time, but I found it to be a bit sickly by the last time I used it. Also, usually my husband will share my shampoo, but it was way too much of a feminine smell to this for him to use. Its hard to tell if my hair has been repaired much, but it does look sort of shiny and is soft after using this but not greatly different to other shampoos. I have found that my hair hasn't been falling out as much as it usually does. I would use this again but only if it was on special. At $9 a bottle, I think there are other cheaper products that would do just as good job.

I liked using this shampoo it didn't make my hair feel like it was to drying when washed it out as some shampoos make hair feel really dry sometimes after rinsing.

This shampoo does what is says it should do. I found my hair fuller, silkier and damage free. I did not like the fuller look as I have so much thick hair that that was not something I was after. My hair look healthier and I would definitely recommend it to people who have thin damaged hair

So I tried out the Total Repair 5, All I can say is WOW!!! i have struggled with frizz and used all sorts of things to tame it. I used the Elvive smooth shampoo and it worked but not like this one does. The shampoo is a creamy white colour and texture and I found it lathered up really nicely in my hair. It smells lovely and feels lovely as you are using it. My hair is soft and silky and I actually enjoy wearing it out rather than keeping it tied up all the time. I definitely think that this shampoo delivers on what it says it does, my hair is silkier, it feels much stronger, it is definitely less frizzy so therefore it looks healthier and revitalized. I would highly recommend this shampoo. The packaging is simple and it is easy to access the product,( I often find shampoos hard to open due to a tricky catch on the lid). I find the bottle shape is easy to store in the shower and I also think that it kinda blends in to the background because of the colour therefore making a busy shower shelf appear less cluttered.

I really like this shampoo. I purchase it along with the conditioner. They're usually on special, but to be honest $9 is still pretty great value, it lasts ages.

The product smells lovely. I can't pinpoint the smell but it's nothing too strong, nor too soapy. I'm not a fan of heavily scented products, this strikes a nice balance.

It lathers well, I only need to shampoo once to feel squeaky clean.

The shampoo isn't at all moisturising so a conditioner is a must, if you just wash and go you'll find your hair is pretty tangled and doesn't feel at all nice when wet.

But combined with the conditioner this is a great product!

When I received the invite for the Total Repair 5 shampoo I was really stoked because my hair was really dry, had split ends, easy to break and well the list kept going on and on. This was all due to heat damage, chemical damage and just failing to maintain it. So what this product said it was going to do was help with 5 things hence its name which were: Feeling Stronger, Looking Fuller, Looking Revitalised, Silkier to the touch and a Healthier Shine. Out of the 5 things it said it would do I only noticed one thing which is Silkier to the touch. Since using this shampoo my hair has felt softer but that is all that I would say has changed since using this product. I was hoping to see if this shampoo would assisst in making my hair stronger but I think more of my hair falls out when I brush it. I absolutely love the smell of this shampoo its really nice and the scent stays in my hair days after I had washed it. I have been trialing this shampoo for 3 weeks and its just seen its final days in the shower box. I was really disappointed with the results and I thought it would work but sadly thats not the case for me. I have seen it on special at countdown for $5 a bottle so its really affordable. Usually the price and its scent influence my purchases when it comes to hair care which probably isnt the best idea seeing as my hair needs a total repair. I would not be using this product again as I feel as though it didnt do the job.

Love this product - have been using Elvive for a while now (different type) and am quite happy to change to this one :) Leaves my hair softer, looking better and easier to manage. Nice fragrance also :)

When I first got this shampoo, I wasn't expecting much to be honest because all the shampoos I had previously tried did the basics but nothing extraordinary. So I was pleasantly surprised that only after the first wash, my hair felt clean but not so clean to the extreme that it was drying. The smell is nice and light, and the shampoo made my hair feel so silky and smooth and I found that my hair was naturally straighter for longer. Prior to using this shampoo, I had used quite a lot of heat straightening and curling so I definitely needed this to replenish and put nourishment back into my damaged hair. So glad I tried this shampoo, will be my new go to shampoo!
