Good clean

Great cleanser, I use it in the shower and follow with the related mask. Texture of the product is soft and didn't foam. Feels like it does a really good job of cleaning and my skin feels fresh afterwards. Would use it again.

Detox for a fresh clean face

Another great product, leaves my face feeling awake and refreshed as well as super clean and smooth. Great sized easy to use tube that will last.

Tips: Use only a small amount each time

Great for oily skin

L'Oreal Pure Clay Clay-to-Mousse Cleansers come in three varieties: Charcoal (to detox and brighten), Red Algae (to exfoliate and refine), and Eucalyptus (to purify and mattify). As I have oily skin, and don't like menthol or eucalyptus in my facial products, I chose to get a tube of charcoal.

Now, I wouldn't really describe this product as clay-to-mousse, as the black face wash inside the mint green 130ml flip top plastic tube is definitely a gel and not a thick or medium clay consistency. When mixed with a little water, it converts into a foam and not a mousse, so I'd describe this cleanser as gel-to-foam and not clay-to-mousse.

Each of L'Oreal's Clay Cleansers contain three difference pure clays to remove dirt, oil and impurities, without over-drying the skin. Kaolin clay is an effective natural clay that is known to absorb impurities and excess sebum (oil), Montmorillonite clay is rich in minerals and is recognized for helping to eliminate imperfections, Ghassoul is a pure clay that's highly concentrated in minerals and is renowned for clarifying the complexion, and Charcoal acts like a magnet to attract and draw out impurities from pores.

The charcoal cleanser foams up really well when mixed with a little water, and a little goes a long way with this product. I find it works best for me if I wet my hands, then put a very small about of the gel onto my palm, then rub my hands together to create a nice frothy light grey lather, before applying it to my face. This cleanser definitely does remove any make-up residue, and leaves my skin feeling deeply cleansed without any dry or tight feeling.

I'll definitely be purchasing more of this, and I'm keen to try the exfoliating and refining Red Algae Clay Cleanser as well.

Tips: Use a small amount (half a pea size, to a full pea size), as it does lather up really well

Good Cleanser

I first purchased this in a hurry, worried I’d brought yet another creamy cleanser that my face doesn’t like. I was quite pleasantly surprised.

I like L’Oréal products, as most of them work well with my skin (combination oily) and this caught my eye with clay as an ingredient (Having had success with clay products before). My main problem with other cleansers is that they are too creamy, and in my oily skin, leave too much moisture, blocking my powers, or they are too light and I need to wash my face at least twice to strip oil residue and excess makeup. L’Oréal’s Pure Clay Detox Wash seems to strike a perfect balance for my skin, leaving it squeaky clean, no residue, but not stripping my skin of the oils it needs to retain.

The tube size is just right, doesn’t take up too much space on the shelf in the shower, but doesn’t get lost in between the larger hair product bottles. Also a handy size for a toiletry bag when I’m travelling, not too big. I do like that it has a flip cap, removable caps in the shower can just be a pain in the a$$

Tips: Don’t use too much, a little goes a long way

Fabulous detox wash for soft, smooth & clear skin

The colour and texture of the L'Oréal Paris Pure Clay Detox Wash seemed alarming at first as it was very different from any other cleanser I've used before. It reminded me more of a face mask. Immediately after using it my skin was left feeling amazingly clean, clarified and and detoxified and has felt particularly soft and smooth since I've been using it. I do find it is drying though and you need to have a good moisturiser on hand to use afterwards.

Tips: You don't need to use very much. The first time I used it I distributed about twice what I needed to, used to my regular cleanser. Also note that this is not something you want to use when you're trying to remove waterproof mascara - the 'avoid eye contours' message on the back is valid (it stings).

L'Oréal Clay Detox wash

I absolutely loved this face wash, it's a fresh smelling nicely scented product that foams up nicely when you apply it to wet skin. A little does go a long way so the value for money is great. The product removed makeup and the oils of the day, and left my face feeling very clean and soft. It feels like the clay does attract the oils and impurities from your skin and washes them away. My skin was left soft, not tight or dry at all. I noticed i had no spots or breakouts since I started using it, so it feels like it has really delivered on removing impurities from my skin and leaving it soft fresh and clean. I don't know if it has brightened my skin but perhaps evened out my skin tone, and I look forward to seeing more results as I continue to use it. I normally can't be bothered with foaming/wash off face wash products preferring wipes and micellar water, but I really enjoyed using this one, and it may have won me over for daily use to get that lovely deeply cleansed feeling every time - and it wasn't too fussy to use, washing off well.

Tips: A little goes a long way so no need to use much, it foams up beautifully.

Fab Face Wash!

So I've seen a lot of charcoal products over the last few years, I've used body scrubs and tooth whiteners containing charcoal but never skin care.

This face wash comes in a good side tube, its lovely packaging that doesn't skew too young or too old.

It applies easily, spreads well and rinses without drama. Immediately after use my skin felt super smooth, and this continued for the next few days. On day four I woke up and my skin felt quite dry so I scaled back to using once a day in the evening and following with my usual oil and moisturiser. My skin hasn't been dry since.

My t-zone is prone to blackheads and definitely looks clearer, it's also less oily which is great.

Overall I think this is a lovely cleanser, and I'll definitely finish it - using once daily its going to last ages which makes the price tag very reasonable!

Tips: Use sparingly, a little goes a long way!

Surprised

The pretty green tube contains an almost black pearly gel similar to shower gel I was surprised that the smell wasn’t more earthy it was pretty smelling which I liked.

I put it on my face because it has clay I tend to find it hard to get my head round it being a wash not a mask I kind of expected it to set.

It doesn’t foam up when applying it maybe I need more water with it as I find when I use a wet cloth to remove it I seem to foam it up a lot more and making more of a mess and it does sting if it ends up in your eyes.

It hasn’t made much noticeable difference to my skin but it smells and feels nice after use.

Strong and Effective

I was sent this was by BR to review.

Starting from the outside in, the range has a stylish and soothing pale green and charcoal colour scheme. The wash is in a 150ml tube, which I think is a reasonable amount of product for the $20 the product costs.

The wash itself was the colour of charcoal, but with a much nicer smell. The smell is a little bit similar (I think) to their clay shampoo. And certainly much nicer smelling than most products with charcoal in them. That said, L'Oreal often adds a nice scent to their products.

The wash itself is a bit more aggressive than most cleansers I have used. While, it has the same gel consistancy as many gel cleansers. It does do what it claims and really digs in to detoxify the skin. So I would say my skin was deeply cleansed and detoxified. But for my skin, I would use a cleanser like this once to twice a week as oppose to everyday.

Want I didn't like so much about it, was that while it came across as a gel cleanser for the face to me, never once is it mentioned on the packaging that it is for the face. I think wash could easily be misinterpreted as being for the body.

Tips: When paired with the mask, impurities are reduced quite quickly.

L'Oréal Paris Pure Clay Detox Wash

I was super excited to be given the opportunity to review this product thanks to BR. I have never tried a 'clay' cleanser before and it intrigued me. I have combination skin (oily t-zone and normal to dry elsewhere). I've been using this product daily since it arrived, so around 10 days.

It comes in a generous 150ml squeeze tube bottle and the product itself surprised me. It's green and I found it to be quite runny, when you rub it into your face it almost changes colour. It goes from a dark green/ grey to a light grey which I thought was neat. It smells okay, nothing amazing. The cleanser left my face feeling super clean and slightly tight afterwards so I definitely needed to moisturize afterwards otherwise my skin felt too dry. Over time I didn't notice any change with my skin overall which is fine as I never do typically with a cleanser. I enjoyed trying this product but wouldn't repurchase as I feel it may be suited better for someone with oilier skin.
