Wild Ombre #2

I applied the Loreal prefrence wild ombre yesterday. I've had an Ombre before and the tips of my hair still had colour in it, the rest of my hair however is natural. Because I have quite long hair I applied the colour from between my jaw right through to the ends. Followed Manufacturer instructions and timing. Left it on for about 35 minutes.

I was surprised with the outcome, because my natural hair colour is Dark brown I didnt think the colour would lift... but it did :) the ombre kit comes with a special application brush which gave it an ombre effect just like in the salons. I was expecting my hair to lift with abit of orange but it didnt, it lifted to a nice caramel colour which I LOVE. This product was easy to use, easy enough for me to juggle my baby girl aswell as applying the product and timing it. I will definitely be using this product again. It will be so handy having it in stores!

Tips: If you have long thick hair like I do, you may need two boxes. Probably best to get two boxes of the Loreal preference wild ombre kit, just so you can re apply if product dries up and you still want a lighter look :) Follow manufacturer instructions!!!

Ombré in its simplest form

Was very nervous to try this out as I have long hair and I had never attempted to do an ombré layered look with a kit. My hair had finally grown out of any colour I had 4 years ago and I was glad to see the instructions and materials were very simple including a new type of brush. Application is relatively easy but a second set of eyes is needed to ensure the ombré is level. Unlike the instructions common sense said that one should start at the tips, leave in for a bit and then work the product up higher to give a more gradual effect as per image on the box. Even with my long hair there seemed to be enough product. I was surprised that even the longest time left in my hair of 40 minute still resulted in a coppery light brown rather than a blond. I think I’d have to do a second attempt at the end of my ends to make it blond further. On the bright side it does make for a very natural ombré. The smell of the product (like most colour stripping) is foul but manageable. For the price range I think it’s a great convenient way to spruce up your look.

Tips: As with any hair colouring, best to be in a bathroom. A second set of hands and eyes is also recommended to help ensure everything is level.

Love it!!!!

Okay so I got this because I was a teeeeeny weeeeny bit jealous of all the awesome pics I saw popping up from girls who got to trial this, and I wanted it for myself; so I had to get it lol. I got Shade #2 on special at the supermarket for $15.50. Score!

The box itself is screams stylish and chic, yet wiiiiild. You get everything you need to ombrè your hair including detailed instructions and pictures. I opted to search youtube for a tutorial and found that much more helpful. It definitely set my mind at ease.

The gloves were probably my only disappointment with this kit. I have long fingers and the gloves were made for tiny hands. I actually ripped the gloves trying to put them on. I gave up and used a pair of disposable gloves of my own. The brush you get with the kit is what makes ombrè -ing your hair so easy; I literally put the crème on the brush and combed it through my ends.

My hair colour is dark brown. It is thin and fine, yet frizzy/wavy (unless straightened). It is also layered.

I found I had to leave the crème in my hair for a little longer than recommended in order to achieve the colour I was after (keep in mind my hair is DARK brown and this kit is intended for lighter brown hair).

The conditioner that came with the kit is a very generous 40ml. It has a nice soapy smell but I found once I washed it out of my hair, it left my hair feeling soft but smelling slightly of plastic (not sure if that was the conditioner of because of the bleach?)

The resulting colour of my ombrè hair is a light brown. And it looks brushed in and natural, not fake like in a straight line across the hair (if that makes sense?). I am also considering buying another kit and maybe adding more to get a lighter and streaky effect.

Overall my impression of this kit is TOTALLY AWESOME! For the price, the ease of use and the result, you really can’t go wrong! I love it and would totally recommend to anyone thinking of doing it.

Tips: If you are a tad worried about doing it, search youtube for tutorials, you can't go wrong!

Loreal Paris wild ombré

Very satisfied with this product. I kept the dye in for slightly longer then the instructions said because I wanted the colour stronger. This product is very easygoing to apply, it comes with a special brush for easy and effective application. There was alot of dye to go around, so even people with the thickest hair wouldnt run out. The shampoo seemed to dry up my hair quite alot though. Long term this product is very pleasing, it lasts months and fades slowly but still looks nice. I would deffinitely use this product again and I strongly recommend it to anyone who would like a simple hair change :)

Tips: Keep the dye in for longer then what the instruction say if you want a stronger, brighter colour

Easy Peasy homedye

I love this stuff! I hate having to fork out over $100 each time to get my hair dyed at the salon so I gave this product a try and found it so easy to use! I love the messy ombre look and didnt want my hair to look too perfect - more of a messy beach look and it came out great. 6 months on and it still looks really cool - would use again!

Tips: Tie your hair up in a pony tail and use the brush to get random pieces - it leaves a much messier, sun beached natural looking dye job!

What the pro!

Had never heard about this product before until, I seen it in the supermarket and decide I want to change up my hair, took to my hair so well. normally with dying your hair blonde, you have to do it more than once.

Tips: Buy a good toner to help after!

Turns out like a hair salon

This turned out great and I have used it three times now! The colour works on dark coloured hair and comes out perfect, I only had to use the product once. The applicator inside can help in the middle of the process when applying to the length of your hair to produce streaks. However, I did not find the applicator useful for the bottom ends of my hair and instead used the bottle and my gloved hands to cover the tips of my hair so it was fully covered, I found the applicator does not apply the enough of the dye to the tips of the hair. And I did find the dye to have a very strong chemical smell during the process; however, for me, this was worth it as the results were just as I had pictured.

Tips: Make sure you have help doing the back of the head to prevent the ombre looking getting messed up by missing chunks of hair or overexposing certain parts of the hair with the dye making it brighter.

To make the bottom of the hair lighter than the top to get the ombre look, you need to start at the bottom and move up the hair, so the bottom of your hair is exposed longer to the dye.

Impressive results for a DIY colour

I was really excited when I got this little box in the mail, I love the packaging with the Wild animal pattern on it. In preparation for the application I visited the Loreal website again and ran through the self application video. The tutorial made it look really simple, so I put my old top on (didn't want to get colour stains on my good clothes), and away I went. The instructions were really straight forward and mixing the product was easy. I was really impressed with the application brush it made applying the product so easy. I applied the colour from the ends up, however, I found it quite hard to see if I was applying it to the same level all over. The back was quite hard to do on my own, even with my hair pulled around the sides like the tutorial showed. The instructions say to leave on for 25 minutes (up to 45 maximum) if you want to go lighter. I washed it off after 25 because I panicked a bit when the ends looked like they were going really light (the colour looks quite white on the ends). I did slide a little bit off the ends to look at the hair underneath and it looked pretty light. Once I washed it off and dried my hair I really do wish I had left it on longer as it wasn't as light as I thought it was going to be. Still a really impressive result for a home colour as it didn't go ginger lol.

Tips: If your hair is long like mine, don't go up as high as I did, I think in hindsight I probably should have gone up to my chin for a more striking look. Also it might pay to get someone to help you with application around the back of your head if you want to keep the ombre look at the same level all the way around. And remember, don't panic if it looks like it's going really light on the ends, it can be left on for up to 45 minutes.

Good

Since it's a bleach it's going to damage your hair no matter what So I used this to get the ombré effect and that's exactly what it did so I'm happy It came out a bit more orange and brassy then the box but that could just be me

Easy Ombre at home

I always felt fear to DIY my hair because I know bleach can damage our hair. I have short hair and my natural color is dark brown. I followed all the instructions in the box. The application is really easy with the brush. I knew the final result wouldn't be exactly the same of the box because I had painted hair, but my hair turned a light brown that I love. After wash the product; my hair was a little dry, but I think that's normal. Now I apply conditioner and treatment to maintain my hair healthy. I definitely will use it again.
