Was gifted to me, wasn't sure about using it as I generally don't use box dye but thought I'd give it a try. Overall it's not bad value an has a decent outcome

Stockholm 10.21 - Love It

L'Oreal Paris Preference Stockholm 10.21 has become my favourite at home hair colour. Easy to use and not drying like other hair colours. The smell is pleasant enough and does not make my eyes water or sting my scalp. I love the addition of the shine oil which leaves my hair so soft - my partner loves running his fingers through my hair after it has been coloured :)

I have Androgenetic Alopecia on top of very fine fly away hair and a sensitive scalp.

This is by far the best hair colour I have used and I find I only need to re-colour every 8 to 10 weeks.

Tips: I have found the best way to apply is with the plastic brush which came with the L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Colour Kit. It helps give an even coverage and I find I do not need to worry about parting my hair to apply the colour, however, I do have very fine hair.

a decent supermarket hair dye

I've never been one to dye my own hair but during lock down I decided to give it a go! I gave myself just small highlights and money pieces and they came out extremely blonde (I had purchased platinum blonde) without too much dryness or damage.

I then bought another one for my boyfriend who wanted some streaks. We left it on for over 50 minutes and used the purple toning conditioner afterwards. However, his hair is much darker than mine (dark brown compared to dirty blonde) and the highlights came out more orange than blonde. I would not attribute this outcome to the product, as we expected it would not turn out as well as my own hair did and that if he wanted to achieve blonde highlights he would need to have multiple sessions with a hairdresser.

Overall, I think it is a good option if you already have relatively light hair and want to get some blonde highlights without breaking the bank at a hair salon. The product comes with clear instructions on how to use it so it is relatively easy.

Tips: Be weary if you are using it on DARK hair! :)

Colour P67

This hair colour was the best I've ever used. I used it to dye my hair red for about 6 years and it was perfect. It gave an intense red without the need for bleach, and I am a natural dark brunette. It wasn't overly harsh or drying for a box dye and when it grew out it blended well with my natural hair, with no harsh lines.

Tips: For P67, I would recommend dying the hair again shortly after the first dye just for the first time.

Red colour

I have dark brown/black hair that I have been dying black for 15+ years. I recently decided to go red/copper and I used the L’Oréal preference red colour range and let me just say it did the job! I obviously had to strip my hair first to get it lighter and once I did I used this product in red and it did not disappoint. My hair was so beautiful vibrant red and it has faded out to a beautiful orange copper. The conditioner it comes with is so hydrating and my hair was quite damaged from the hair stripping but the conditioner in this box restored my hair shine and I will forever use this box dye

Easy Beauty

I have a decent amount of greys to cover these days and L'Oreal once again gives me the tools I need to succeed. This easy to use product is available in a bunch of locations and gives me the bright vibrant hair colour I love. Like any box dye, it does smell for the first couple of days till you can rewash and get that fresh dyed hair smell to go away. The price point is great considering I have nearly waist length, thick hair and need a few boxes to get its all covered.

Tips: Make sure you buy enough colour to really saturate your hair, its better to apply more, than to risk dry patches.

Great coverage

I only buy the L’Oréal preference hair colour. It’s worth spending the little extra to get a hair colour that will cover greys and bring the colour down in your hair to the shade shown. I was using cheaper products and my hair dresser asked which brand I’d been using and commented that was why my hair was brassy, i wasn’t using a good enough quality hair colour. It was awhile ago now and I’m happy with the results. Will keep using this product.

L'Oreal Paris Preference

There's alot if the preference lines from this brand I used Alaska 10.21. Forest I was removing left over temporary colours - those designed to wash out but blue and green are difficult... The colour remover I used was designed for fashion colours it did okay but of course there was still some greeny tinge left over. I was able to use the Alaska straight away unlike most hair colour removers which do not recommend this. It worked in the sense that it did lighten but my hair was not dark to begin with. It did not make my hair white blonde on the box but it wasn't bad I wasn't expecting it to be white anyway. It was fairly ashy in some places. After this I tried a light light pink temporary to try minimise or colour correct the left over green blue tinge which it didn't really do much. Next I used yellow / light orange in most of my hair and a little bright stronger pink than before (temporary colours) hair took to these well though the yellow orange was not as bright as I had wanted - I was going for either bright fluro yellow almost or fluro orange. So after this the orange and yellow washed out quite quickly and my whole hair had a green tinge to it. I don't think the green was all over or as bad as it was before so I wonder if the dye had something to do with it. The temporary dyes are supposedly Vegan/natural but it could still be something to do with the combination. I wouldn't say I wouldn't ever use this again but It is not my new go to hair lightener. Also I didn't notice high shine. Now I have dark purple in my hair and it is sticking really well compared to the yellow orange & pink / red put in previously since using. This probably because my hair is now damaged from this product and the colour remover plus the purple has blue in it. A few areas of my hair are already blonde / don't take the temporary colour well probably because it's porous.

Preference Rose extender

My hair colour to start with is 2nd lightest blonde on the chart. Going by the guide i was impressed on the box what the result would be like. Followed directions to the letter, unfortunately it turned out nothing like what it ideally should be.... or thereabouts. You cannot see the pink/rose in my hair it is so pale. Even after using the colour extender, following instructions, it made absolutely no difference to the colour, it was no more pink/rose than it was before. Very disappointed.

Tips: If anyone could give tips on this it would be great cos i was not impressed and will not buy again. A shame really cos this was the brand i always use.

Good quality hair colour

I have been buying this brand for a while in order to lighten my hair. The shade I have used the most is Very Platinum.

The Preference range is easy to use. It comes with very clear instructions, both for colouring for the first time, and for touching up roots. The blonde shades come with both an activating powder, and a lightening cream, to add to the developer crème. They also come with a pair of rubber gloves and a brass-defying conditioner.

The colour is easy to mix, and to apply. However, it goes on white, so it can be hard to tell where you have already applied it to your hair if your hair is already pale.

I find that the colour lasts pretty well and does not go brassy or yellow quickly. The conditioner it comes with is purple-toned so it seems to help with the colour retaining its cooler shades. Although lightening my hair does dry it out, I find that this hair colour does help to alleviate the damage.

I think this is a good quality at-home hair colour.
