Having never owned any other curling irons I don't have much to compare this too but I know for sure this is much safer and won't burn you unless you actually stick your finger into the chamber! This creates really natural curls and there are 3 settings so you can choose what sized curls you want and it does it for you automatically which is AMAZING!! I've had my hair stuck in it ONCE and that was only when I was in a rush to get it done and forgot to brush through that strand of hair.

Tips: For hair that's hard to keep curls in, like mine, I use a texturising and heat protectant spray beforehand and after the beep I keep the hair in for a FEW seconds longer and after it's cooled I brush it out slightly then use a strong holding hairspray.
After much thinking & saving of Flybuys points, I got one! I read all the reviews, checked out other options & decided that this one was best suited to my thick, long hair. I already have an Instyler & while that is ok. This Curl Secret is wayyyyyy better! So very easy. Firstly read the instructions, check out the tips - there are a few & have a go. I sectioned off my hair, used spray to protect & then worked from the back to the front only taking (what I regard as) small sections at a time. This first time it took a while to get used to how much it can take, but this machine is very good at letting you know how much is too much. It sucks the curl in & beeps to let you know that it's done, at which point you open the device & let your hair fall out. I have used it on my hair twice and twice on daughter's hair - great results each time. Applying hair spray does make the curls last longer. Obviously the more one plays with the hair, the easier they fall out. - but it's hard not to play and admire your own curls when you've never had them before!!
Tips: Use protection spray, never pull your hair through, protect your curl with hair spray.
I bought this after watching some online reviews & reading some of the ones below, and honestly don't really think its all that great. I have very fine medium length hair just below my shoulders and yes, it curls the hair, but the design of the tool isn't for me. Only being able to hold it one way is annoying, basically means that I have to wrap my arm right around the other side of my head to do the back, & lose sight of the mirror & where you hair is going-which could be pretty bad, and almost was that bad for me at one stage.
If you want to do thick curls, then this tool is not for you, as you can't use thick pieces of hair in the barrel.
No matter what products or treatments I did before using the curl secret my hair always felt coarse afterwards, even using the lowest heat setting.
This tool would be a lot easier to use with long hair that can be swept over the shoulder & curled in the front, so I'll give it another go in a year or so when my hair is longer, but right now its going into my storage bin under my bed.
Tips: If for whatever reason your hair does become stuck in the barrel- pull the cord out of the wall immediately to prevent your hair from being burned off!
I had been wanting this curler for ages and finally bought one while on holiday in Australia (even came with a bonus steam conditioning waver).
It makes perfect curls and they definatly last a million times longer than if you were to use your everyday curler or straightener. You can achieve different curls using the different heat and timer settings but I tend to leave it on the hottest and longest settings because I have thick long hair and haven't really played around with it all that much.
I have noticed with my hair I have to use thin enough strands to fit into the curler, it kind of has a pathway where you place your hair before you close it to curl and if I put too much in it tangles inside the curler and gets stuck... Not good trying to untangle my hair whilst it is burning away I end up ripping it out ( this was before I noticed the pathway so it hasn't happened as much now but I do still freak out a bit when I use it)
I have been told is not for every day use but that could be personal preference :-)
To achieve different styles you can also softy brush or run fingers through hair after to get loose soft curls
Tips: I recommend using a good heat protectant spray and if you have very long hair don't put the curler all the way up if your new to using it so it doesn't tangle
For very thick hair I think it's good to straighten your hair first or the night/day before to get a better result
I have a bunch of curling irons and by the time I finish curling the top part of my hair the bottom of my hair is without curls. But with this it was totaly diferent, it holds my curls so well and it last a long time.
I'm useless when it comes to my hair and when I do attempt to curl it they usually last an hour... If I'm lucky! This curler is amazing, it does all the work (makes someone bad at hair, like myself look like they have been hair dressing all there life) and they stay all day and night. The only problem I have with it is the fact you can't curl much hair at once which means you spend about an hour/ hour and a half to curl thick hair.
I got one of these for christmas the best thing since sliced bread!!! I love it... gone are my curling tongs!!!
Tips: I found it works better on clean hair and twisting the pieces of hair makes it go into the chamber better
I have quite fine (but a lot of it) sraight/wavyish hair, I have tried to get the perfect curl since owning my first pair of GHD’s . I have watched hundreds of you tube tutorials & scoured pinterest to try & get the ghd to curl like I see it seems to for everyone else (but alot like winged eyeliner I can not for the life of me get it right!). I saw this and read so many reviews and watched so many tutorials before buying and just decided to take the plunge and buy one. I was so excited to take this home and use it, I got it home and ripped open the box and read through the instructions. Came complete with a cooling mat/pouch to store in once it had been cooled down. It was a little bigger than I thought but too difficult to hold. I made sure my hair was clean and dry and tangle free. Now it comes with 3 different curl settings (8 loose,10 medium,12 tight) & 2 different heat settings. I’m not one for shirley temple type curls I really just wanted to curl the ends of my hair and kind of get a loose just rolled out of bed kind of curl. Once turned on & selected your settings the light will flash to say its heating up, once its stopped flashing its ready to go. I clipped my hair out of the way and started with the underneath portion, I took really small portions of hair combed through to ensure no sneaky knots were left behind & popped the hair into the device , I popped it in at about half way down my head so as to not curl the top parts of my hair but you can start wherever you like its up to the look you want. It sucks the hair up and beeps to say its all ok, it then gives off a series of beeps and then 3 quick beeps to tell you its done , simply open the barrel and let the hair drop out & you have yourself a curl. This was the perfect easiet way to curl my hair I was genuinely surprised how easy it was to use. I did read horror stories of people saying they got their hair caught in the machine but from my experience with using it if you try to put in too much hair or for some reason your hair is a bit knotted or something it actually beeps at you and wont suck the hair in so you can redistribute your hair again properly. I only had it suck it in once and then tell me it was incorrect and I just opened the barrel and gently unwrapped my hair out so it wasn’t that scary. It only took me about 10 minutes to do my whole head, you wouldn’t have to do your whole head you can do the top bits or just some random bits. Once I had curled what I wanted I ran my fingers through it and dropped it down a little bit. Im not a big fan of hairspray (unless going to a wedding or somewhere I really want maximum hold) so I went to work with no product in my hair & by the end of the day my curls had dropped a tiny bit but really just made them look better than when I left for work!. This has been the best find and I’m so pleased I bought it, its no gimmick it really has made the elusive curl super easy for me !.
Tips: If you struggle with GHD curls this is the product for you
I have always straightened my hair and it does get boring doing the same thing. Unfortunately I'm not great at experimenting with my hair as I am with makeup. When this came out, I couldn't wait to buy it and start curling my hair and it looked so easy. I have hair midway down my back, it definitely gives a gorgeous curl and it is a quick way for someone like me who doesn't know how to do much. It has 3 different settings for the tightness or looseness of the curl. It still takes about 20mins to do my whole head, but I have a lot of hair so is very quick compared to trying to curl my hair without curl secret. Great product!
Tips: Make sure hair is brushed before hand, if not it can get tangled in the barrel. Happy Curling!
I bought this last month , first time I used it I got confused how to use it because I opened it so fast with out checking which is wrong be careful if you do it wrong your hair can be stuck hard to get out , I loved how curly it made my hair look I love it
