VS Sassoon Curl Secret

I have quite fine (but a lot of it) sraight/wavyish hair, I have tried to get the perfect curl since owning my first pair of GHD’s . I have watched hundreds of you tube tutorials & scoured pinterest to try & get the ghd to curl like I see it seems to for everyone else (but alot like winged eyeliner I can not for the life of me get it right!). I saw this and read so many reviews and watched so many tutorials before buying and just decided to take the plunge and buy one. I was so excited to take this home and use it, I got it home and ripped open the box and read through the instructions. Came complete with a cooling mat/pouch to store in once it had been cooled down. It was a little bigger than I thought but too difficult to hold. I made sure my hair was clean and dry and tangle free. Now it comes with 3 different curl settings (8 loose,10 medium,12 tight) & 2 different heat settings. I’m not one for shirley temple type curls I really just wanted to curl the ends of my hair and kind of get a loose just rolled out of bed kind of curl. Once turned on & selected your settings the light will flash to say its heating up, once its stopped flashing its ready to go. I clipped my hair out of the way and started with the underneath portion, I took really small portions of hair combed through to ensure no sneaky knots were left behind & popped the hair into the device , I popped it in at about half way down my head so as to not curl the top parts of my hair but you can start wherever you like its up to the look you want. It sucks the hair up and beeps to say its all ok, it then gives off a series of beeps and then 3 quick beeps to tell you its done , simply open the barrel and let the hair drop out & you have yourself a curl. This was the perfect easiet way to curl my hair I was genuinely surprised how easy it was to use. I did read horror stories of people saying they got their hair caught in the machine but from my experience with using it if you try to put in too much hair or for some reason your hair is a bit knotted or something it actually beeps at you and wont suck the hair in so you can redistribute your hair again properly. I only had it suck it in once and then tell me it was incorrect and I just opened the barrel and gently unwrapped my hair out so it wasn’t that scary. It only took me about 10 minutes to do my whole head, you wouldn’t have to do your whole head you can do the top bits or just some random bits. Once I had curled what I wanted I ran my fingers through it and dropped it down a little bit. Im not a big fan of hairspray (unless going to a wedding or somewhere I really want maximum hold) so I went to work with no product in my hair & by the end of the day my curls had dropped a tiny bit but really just made them look better than when I left for work!. This has been the best find and I’m so pleased I bought it, its no gimmick it really has made the elusive curl super easy for me !.

After years of using tongs and my GHD to curl my hair, I got one of these babys for Christmas. WOW! It makes curling sooo easy and the curls last a long time. I used this yesterday morning and my hair is still curled (no hairspray either!). The only weird thing is, when it is plugged into the wall it makes a high pitched humming noise...

For someone with straight hair and a constant battle for volume and begging my tresses to hold a curl, this was a dream come true.

I snapped it up as soon as I could. I was a bit apprehensive at first about using it as I was freaking out a bit about the fact that my hair was going to get tangled and pulled out of my skull. Never fear though, I learned to use it pretty quickly and after a few tries and getting used to the product, I was amazed.

I've never in my life been able to create the perfect curl. Yes, the elusive perfect curl is now achievable for me. Even better? The fact that my perfect curl lasts all day and doesn't just fall out after a half hour.

This used to happen all the time, even with a mousse and hair spray. It is a pricey device, but I'm in love with it and feel like it's money well spent.

Love the result and quite quick. The curl result is more natural than a tong. The only problem if the hair is slightly knotted or you take a too large section it can grab the hair, fry it and not let go.

After seeing this on the shopping channel I went to work the next day and asked around. I have been trying to curl my hair with my GHDs for nearly 8 years and I still cant do it. Anyway, after talking to people and watching you tube clips for about 4 wks Idecided to buy one. OMG!!!! ADORE !!!!! It works brilliantly on my hair and my hair is long, I have it down to a fine art of 30minutes to do my whole mane. (You can kind of see it in my profile pic). Only bad thing I can say is if you rush or you section to much hair, it will tangle in the curler and, for me, I have to 'yank' my haif out of it. There may be another way to untangle but I dont no what it is. So yes it does what says and im proud to own one.

I have had this item for roughly 3 months and still have real mixed feelings about it. When I first purchased it I loved it and was convinced I had found the answer to achieving perfect curls. However I soon found out this was not completely the case. Yes this product is extremely easy to use. But the curls aren't always "perfect" and have found that they drop out within the day unless you use tonnes of product such as hair sprays etc. I have had the top back of my hair caught in the barrel a couple of times and while it is easy to get out it does hurt a wee bit. Overall an ok purchase if you want curls quickly and for a short time only but if you have mastered the curl from a hair straightener then don't bother ladies. I prefer the curls and staying power from my good old GHD.

I nearly purchased this for my daughter after watching all the advertisements on TV but then my niece over from America for the Xmas holidays said that there were issues about people burning their hair so I decided against it because my daughter who is a little on the careless side would surely make that mistake. She still wants one but I think I will wait for the next generation and see if they improve that burning issue.

I have now had two of these.

The first one broke the first day I had it. I decided this may just be bad luck so went back and had it replaced.

I have medium/long hair which is often frizzy so I always blow wave before i use this. Even with doing that my hair often still causes the machine to not feed properly.

I find the curl size is a little small as i like slightly larger curls and i also find it makes the top of my hair go very frizzy.

Overall it does create curls as it says, however I feel the remmington perfect curl is a lot more fool proof and easier to use (and faster) than this wee machine.

I have poker straight hair that is hard to curl: The curl just doesn't stay, no matter what product I use before or after. With the Curl Secret: I was super impressed! I found it really easy to use and I get perfect curls that STAY ALL DAY. I love it. It takes a while to get the hang of it, and the device certainly lets you know if you haven't done it right - beeb beeb! I have got my hair seriously tangled in it once, that was entirely my fault, I ignored the instructions, got greedy and tried to curl a piece of hair that was too big. Luckily I got most of the hair out, but one piece was stuck and got ripped out. My bad. All in all, I'm really glad I got this and I much refer using this over my hair straighteners or Remington Curling Tongs. Big ups to Vidal Sassoon!

I’ve always struggled with curling my hair, whether it be curling tongs, hair straighteners or non-heating hair curlers. I just couldn’t get the curls right and my arms would get sore trying to figure it out, that I eventually give up. I was so ecstatic to find out that there’s a hair tool which makes curling simple and easy. I treated myself to getting the VS Curl Secret for my birthday. I got it for a bargain, buying it brand new for $90. It comes safely packaged in a cardboard box and includes a cleaning prong to remove any hairs inside the curler. The curler is a deep purple colour and unlike any other curlers out there.

The curler is clearly labeled where to and where not to place the hair strands for curling, for a newb like me I found it extremely helpful. Firstly, I used heat resistant spray on my hair and I brushed my whole hair. I also, brushed every section of hair before popping it into the curler. I placed small sections of hair, about 2cm in width into the curling socket and gently pressed down on the top part. It’s amazing how the curler reels in the hair itself to curl, I let it sit for 3 seconds before unclamping and loosening the hair out. It’s important to make sure to use small sections and brush the hair, otherwise it will get stuck in there and it will start beeping if this happens. If this happens turn off the curler, so it doesn’t continue to heat your hair. It was easy to untangle it though. The curler was so easy to use, and I managed to get through all my hair in about 10 – 15 minutes even though I have long hair. The curls were soft, and I loved how it turned out.

I recommend it to anyone who has trouble curling their hair as the VS Sassoon Curl Secret makes the whole process a breeze. The price can be expensive in certain shops, but if proper research is done, there are many places out there that sell it for cheaper, such as Trade Me, Onceit and 1-Day. So, keep a look out.
