My least favourite product in the range

The dry shampoo is my least favourite of the clay range. Like the other products in the range, the product looks awesome, is very eye catching and is easy to read. It has a very refreshing scent and made my hair smell clean. There was a slight white powdery residue in my hair which took quite a bit of brushing to get rid of. In the end it did work, it got rid of the oil that was in around my scalp. However, I probably wouldn’t use it again as my usual dry shampoo does a better job (no white residue).

Tips: Make sure you have time on your hands.. this isn't a quick spray and walk out the door kind of product.

Favourite dry shampoo

I have never really got onto the dry shampoo band wagon before mainly because I have always had to wash my hair almost every day so never needed it. Most dry shampoos also leave me with white residue in my hair as I have dark brown hair so I have to make sure I get all the white marks out of my hair. This dry shampoo has very nice packaging with the teal colour. This dry shampoo doesn’t leave my hair with any white residue which is a first for me with a dry shampoo. It gave my hair a nice fresh scent like it has been freshly cleaned. The instructions say to spray at roots and then let it settle in for two minutes before giving your hair a brush. I found that this really helped with oiliness in my roots and made my hair looked clean and gave me some volume back in my hair. I think next time I need to get a dry shampoo I will purchase this one.

Tips: Hold quite far away from your hair and then spray. Leave for two minutes then brush your hair.

I really wanted to love this!

I was super excited to try this dry shampoo, I always have an issue with white residue on my dark hair so was really hoping this would come with no residue!

The packaging is pleasant enough and I really like the size. I can happily say that I had no issue with residue! The product smells nice and fresh and sprays in easily but unfortunately it didn't help with the oil in my hair. I can't really rate it on much other than it smelling nice and refreshing which I did enjoy.

The other items in this range are great so it's a shame!

Tips: Not great if you suffer with generally oily hair.

Nothing on other brands of dry shampoo

I literally squealed when I opened the package and it came with dry shampoo as I'd run out of my regular one.

However, I was super disappointed as I found it did nothing but make my hair smell nice :(

As a regular user of dry shampoo I was excited for a new and more affordable alternative but unfortunately this did nothing for me :(

Clay range dry shampoo

I was so excited to be picked to trial this range of clay products. I think the packaging is lovely and bright and would stand out on the supermarket shelf. I think it smells really nice and is great to use after a gym workout before I start work as I don't have time to wash, dry and straighten my hair before I start my shift. It definitely freshens my hair up and doesn't leave a white residue like other dry shampoo ranges. It isn't the best dry shampoo I've ever used but it is still a good product and if I saw it at the supermarket and was on special I'd definitely grab some.

Tips: Perfect to freshen up after a gym workout. Best results when you straighten hair briefly after applying product

Another dry shampoo disappointment

During the trial for this range the Dry Shampoo is what I was most excited to try, but unfortunately this was a flop for me. This claims to be specifically for oily thin hair, which mine is on my top half of my hair. Due to my oily roots I need to wash my hair everyday, but due to my damaged ends I usually succumb to tying it up for 2 days then washing. I so desperately wanted this to be the answer to my hairs woes. I can't honestly say that it made my hair feel refreshed in any other way than smelling good. I sprayed this into my roots, massaged it in, left it a couple if minutes and gently brushed it out, as recommend. I was left with hair that looked stale, weighed down and somewhat dull where it was applied, but hey it smelt good. The cost of this product is maybe a telling sign, for $7 bucks a can it is a nice cheap scent for the hair but nothing more. I won't be purchasing this again & my hunt for the perfect product between washes continues.

L'Oreal Clay Dry Shampoo

I was super excited to try this dry shampoo, more than any of the other products in the range, but I just couldn't fall in love with it, I was so gutted.

The best bit about this dry shampoo is the scent, it did leave my hair smelling fresh which I loved because the scent lasted all day, but in terms of taking away the oiliness it juts didn't work for me. I did like how it wasn't white and powdery like some other brands, but maybe because it isn't as powdery it doesn't take the oil away? I wouldn't buy this product as I know there are others out there which do the trick for me.

A dry shampoo fail

I have very oily hair and I’ve never tried dry shampoo before, so I was excited to get chosen to try the L’oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Dry Shampoo. It comes in a 150ml bottle and it also has a lovely scent. The texture is like a light hair spray.

I wash my hair everyday second day, so I used the dry shampoo on days I haven’t washed my hair. I followed the instructions on the bottle. I shook the bottle well and sprayed it to my roots from 15cm above my hair. I did this to each section of my hair, only targeting the roots and let it soak in for 2 minutes. Once it has set, I lightly brushed it with a comb.

I was very disappointed and unimpressed with this dry shampoo. The dry shampoo didn’t absorb the oil like it said it would, instead made my hair very greasy, sticky and even oilier. The worst part was my scalp got very itchy, but I did have nice smelling hair.

Tips: Cover your face when spraying it onto your hair

Worked for me

I am not a regular dry shampoo user. I normally just wash my hair rather than try to salvage it with dry shampoo. And I hate the white marks I'm left with when I try and use it.

This dry shampoo didn't seem as 'dry'. When I gave my hair a spray, it freshened it without leaving white patches. I preferred the feeling this dry shampoo has - it wasn't as powdery and grippy feeling, it seemed more smooth? If that even makes sense? Sometimes after other dry shampoos my hair can become stiff like I've used hairspray but this one left my hair smooth and soft.

I found I could only use this once to reduce the oilyness of my hair, which worked for about 24 hours, a second try after that didn't really seem to refresh my hair and it started to feel heavy and dirty.

I liked it to freshen my hair but I don't use much, or very often so one can will last me a long time.

Tips: Use the night before as it seems to work better.

A bit meh?

I am a dry shampoo devotee, and I'm always keen to try new brands. So I was really excited to try the L'Oreal ELVIVE Extraordinary Clay Dry Shampoo. I have oily roots and dry ends, and normally use dry shampoo every other day. This product was ok, but not as good as some of the other products i've tried in the past. It has a fresh scent, and white in colour. It would be a good option for someone that it is sensitive to fragrance, or someone wanting gender neutral option (as I find most dry shampoos are very sweet or floral). It was great for most of my hair, but I found for my side-fringe it just didn't get all of the oil dealt with, so there was a slight limp appearance.

In terms of price point - it is slightly cheaper than other options. I would repurchase in a pinch, if I needed a product but there were not other dry shampoo options available.

Tips: If you have dark hair, make sure you brush it out well or try put it in before bed. This prevents white cast throughout the roots.

If you use the rest of the range, you may be able to negate the use of dry shampoo all together, or at least lessen use.
