Exceeded my expectations!

I left this review a little late as I wanted to make sure I gave the dye a fair shot and could see how it performed over a long period. As soon as I unboxed the dye, I was sold. The packaging is not like any dye I've used before. It's incredibly well thought out and easy to use. The bottle is designed in such a way that you can squeeze every last bit of dye out - not being able to use all the dye is a problem I have had with other at home kits. Because of the squeeze tube shape, you can't sit the bottle on its base like standard dye bottles; but they do have a fix for this - the box has a pre-cut hole in the side that simply push in to create a little bottle holder. Super handy for mixing the dye and sitting the bottle in during application. The applicator tip was also great for parting hair. Now, onto the actual product... The first thing I noticed was how the formula looked in the bottle. I had the colour dark brown and it mixed to a lovely smooth chocolate colour in the bottle. But my favourite feature would have to be the smell - the no ammonia is a god send and the reason I rate this so highly. I am particularly sensitive to the strong smell of dye and sometimes find I get an itchy head during application. Not with this product! It smelt fruity and was just like wearing a hair mask. It developed nicely and washed out easily, although it did leave some stubborn marks on my white shower which I found harder to get out than usual. After my hair dried I was really impressed with the colour. I am a natural blonde but I have been home dying my hair dark brown for about 10 years now. I find that if I put dark brown over a previous application it can end up looking incredibly dark and almost black which I do not like. I was apprehensive about using this dye so close to my last treatment but I was really happy with the results. It didn't make the colour darker and the reddish/brown tones look great in natural light. I try to spend around $12 when I buy my bottle dye, but after my experience this dye will be my go to. Although priced slightly higher than most home dyes, this product is definitely worth it.

Tips: Be careful when washing out in the shower - the product seemed to mark my white shower walls more than regular dye but did come off with a good scrub!

L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss

I was picked for the L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss trial.

I choose Black Currant.

Firstly I love the packaging, it's eye catching and a fun shaped box.

When I first opened up the box , there was a pleasant fruity scent coming through.

I must say the gloves were very fitting and I have long skinny fingers and bony hands and I was a little taken back by how small they were. These gloves wouldn't be suitable for someone with larger hands.

The mixing of the colour and the developer was easy.

Great bottle! Easy to handle. And very easy to mix the two together.

I was surprised at how much product came out of the bottle I was almost able to spread through all my hair and I have long hair.

It did not stink , it did not burn or itch or annoy me.

I love the fruity scent.

It washed off my skin with ease, however did run in the shower ALOT.

The Conditioner was amazing , very thick and creamy, it drenched my hair in moisture, I was surprised at that. Yummy scent.

After towel drying my hair , my hair is soft, shiny and not at all looking like I just coloured it!!

I will reuse again! I really liked the formula, scent and performance.

Also..it does covers greys exceptionally well!!

**thought I'd update it's now the 9th Feb, the colour is still strong in my hair, I have an inch of regrowth and still the same colour. So there you go :)

Tips: Apply oils (any olive, argan, rosehip) around hairline, forehead, ears to help prevent staining.

L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss

Choice: 1010 VERY LIGHT ICED BLONDE

I think making a colour choice over the internet might have been a little ambitious - I think this was slightly too light for me, however I'm pretty sure with some toning and fading it will look killer!

Firstly, the price for this DIY colour is damn good.

28 washes: I wash my hair about three times a week so this will last me a VERY good amount of time! Plus blonde doesn't really fade... I'll defo need to touch up my roots before that time is up tho!

I personally love that this product has no amonia in it. Not only was there no burning head, there were no tears haha.

The instructions with this colour are excellently simple and easy to follow. It does do what it says in the fact that its a nice thick texture and therefore no dripping messiness.

I always love using the little conditioner packets that come in these and this one was no exception. My hair felt SO good - not that it had just unnaturally been abused into a preferable shade of blonde! Even after blow drying it felt great. No straw like feel here.

My regrowth was pretty bad and I attempted to only colour that part of my hair - I am not a hairdresser so it was tricky to do on my own. Its a little rough but I'm not picky so I'm ok with it! Looking at the L'Oreal website, I might now invest in one of the products from the Elvive Colour Protect range. I already have the Total Repair 5 Instant Miracle which I didn't use after washing (just the conditioner) might will give that a go in a few days when its time to wash again.

Overall: I think this is a really good product! Next time I think I'll go to a pharmacy or Farmers to look at the colour selection before making my choice :-)

Very gentle on hair

I loved this product, and would recommend other people to try it if you want to look after the condition of your hair. This hair colour does not strip the moisture out of your and leaves hair looking shiny and healthy. I tried the Amber shade and it added a nice subtle red to my hair.

Tips: If you have long or thick hair you will require 2 boxes

Loreal Casting creme gloss - Dark Blonde

Thank you beauty review for giving me the opportunity to trial this hair colour. Its been quite a few years since I have dyed my hair so I was very excited.

Because I like my hair reasonably natural I chose Dark Blonde which is as close to my natural colour out of all the colours. The packaging of this product is attractive and easy to handle. The instructions were easy to follow, the pack includes everything you need gloves (very important!), developer, colour, and conditioner. It was easy to mix together, and applying it was very easy, there is plenty of product and covered all my medium/long hair. The smell is pleasant as it does not contain ammonia. I left it in for about 25 minutes to develop, then washed it out. The pack came with some delicious smelling conditioner, which was used after rinsing my hair and made it feel beautifully soft. Once my hair was dried off, my hair is beautifully soft and glossy. My hair has a lovely intensity and sheen to it that it was previously lacking. . I would definitely recommend using this product again. The colour has lasted for 3 weeks so far and I wash it every day :)

Tips: Always do a test patch for sensitivity especially if you have never coloured your hair before.

L'oreal Casting Creme Gloss

I really liked this colour. It was easy to apply and it smelt nice - alot of colours have a horrible strong smell but this one was pleasent :) I got the dark brown, it had good covereage and was nice and glossy. The only thing that I found was that the gloves were a lot tighter than other brands which was strange. I'm probably a medium glove size so I think that a large would stuggle to get their hands in. Apart from that, I would definitely recommend to others. And will be using it again

Tips: Have a soare pair of larger gloves :)

L'Oreal casting Creme Gloss

I have used the same brand and same hair colour product for many years, so was a little apprehensive at trying a new brand and colour. I waited as long as possible to try this out so I could be sure of having a few grey hairs to 'hide'. I read the whole instruction sheet through first to be certain I followed all the steps. The sheet was clear, not too wordy and easy to understand. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the smell to be not as intense as my previous brand, and in fact didn't drip as much either. The Creme was easy to apply with just the nossle and helped by massaging in with the provided gloves (which were a very snug fit!). I was very pleased with the end colour result which was very natural and completely covered my 'greys'. The shine was great and the colour evenly spread.

Tips: I have very long hair so use a disposable shower cap after the colour iis applied to save it spreading to clothes or towels.

Love it

I have very few negatives to say about this product, from start to finish it is simple. I tried the 316 Plum colour and it is the exact colour I have been trying to achieve in my hair for a long time. It had a pleasant fragrance to it, and wasn't over powering. I love that it's ammonia free as I have sensitive skin and usually experience a great deal of itching during and after colouring my hair but have had none of that. The colour is even and actually what it said it would be. The creme gloss conditioner is devine and pleasantly scented. However I wouldn't use it wash after wash as it is a very deep conditioner and I have naturally oily hair. The only downfall was the gloves were on the slightly too small size, and I don't have overly large hands so that was a little annoying. But all in all it's a great product. Coming from a hairdressing background I was pleasantly surprised how well this product works! Usually after dying my hair with box dye's it feels quite brittle and dry, however this time around my hair was left softer than before. No knots and tangles. I will definitely be using this product from here on out.

Tips: When using ANY red based dyes, always ensure you wash your hair in cold water and ensure that you do not go to bed with wet hair.

Perhaps if you have slightly larger than normal or even normal sized hands you may want to use other gloves as the ones that come with it are while good quality quite small and tight.

L'Oreal Casting creme gloss hair dye!

Thanks to Beauty Review i got to trial this hair dye. When i had a look on the website it took me a while to decide on what colour as the difference between the darkest blonde and lightest brown was fairly big i didn't know what one to pick and ended up choosing the lightest brown. It arrived and was very dark to what the website had shown. A week ago i used it to ombre my hair, it didnt have a strong smell like some other dyes, was easy to mix and read the instructions. Applying it to my hair wasn't a big deal either, easy application, waited only 20 minutes because at that point it was the colour i wanted to be. Washed it out, which was also easy and quick not like other brands where it doesnt seem to stop running colour in the shower. After drying my hair it felt nice and smooth (some dyes make my hair look frizzy and yuck) and the colour was better than expected ! The only thing that i didnt like was the gloves they put in with the dye are not the best, they rip easily and just made a bit of a mess and i ended up with dye on my hands.
