Colour!

This was my first time using a hair colorant of any sort and I have to say - it was exciting! Since I have natural black hair it was a bit hard to see under normal light but outside in the sun you could def see the shine of the Honey streaks come through! I was impressed that the colour didn't wash out after a few washes because I think that's what every girl with dyed hair is afraid of. I'm looking forward to try a different colour in the future :)

Tips: Nope, but application can get messy without tight fitting gloves!

New Hair, Don't Care

I don't have a lot of experience dying my own hair. So I found this process quite daunting (with little time to go back and double check I'm doing everything right). Despite the difficulty the end result was worth it, soft hair in gorgeous tones.

I've only got one other brand to personally compare this too and there are a few start contrasts for me. The L'Oreal Casting Cream dye isn't as user friendly for self-application, whereas if you have a friend involved then difficulty of application isn't a concern. I wouldn't apply this product to myself if I didn't have a helping hand as it was harder to ensure I got even coverage.

I did get the impression that L'Oreal included more product than other companies, granted this is a hard comparison to make. But I'm a gal that always needs at least twice the amount of dye because of how big my mane is, and L'Oreal Paris Casting Creme Gloss went MUCH further before I had to break into the 2nd box.

In terms of the colours available I would definitely say this brand excels in brunette tones with much more selection available and overall the tones just seem more desirable. The range of blonde tones seems far more limited with tones that aren't as common as what you see around these days.

Tips: If you have thick or long hair, don't hesitate to get a 2nd pack

little pricey

ive used this one a few times, but abit on the pricey side for hair dye, so its not a regular for me. but the results were nice, texture of the dye was nice and cream and covered well. they have lovely shades in this range also. just not for my budget.

L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss

This is my favourite hair dye product out of all the ones I've tried. I used it several times during my high school years whenever I felt like a change (my hair is naturally auburn, and I mainly used the range of chocolate browns). It is easy to apply and looks fantastic - the colour is glossy and shiny. My only issues are that one year the 'semi-permanent' colour never faded out completely, and I was left with a very dark and obvious regrowth. I also have stopped using dyes completely as of late, as my hair has become quite dry. I am now focussing on nourishing my hair naturally, so for that reason will not be purchasing this product again. But if you want to change your hair colour this is a great DIY option.

good

i had the very light pearl blonde shade. the instructions were easy to follow and the processing didn't take as long as other dyes either.i really loved the smell it had and it didn't have that chemical smell dyes usually have, and it didn't have that itchiness to it either which was great, the only problem i did have was that it didn't change the colour of my roots but it did lighten the rest of my hair, they give you lots of conditioner though which was great and my hair does have a nice shine to it now as well, im just disappointed about my roots.

Tips: always read the instructions :)

L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss.

Being a natural black head, I know dyes don't work too well for me so of course I didn't have insane expectations. The dye is good for slightly lightening your hair, and it leaves a lovely shine when out in sunlight. I was very impressed with the amount of product that was supplied in the dye and developer bottles because it managed to cover my whole head, and I have pretty long hair. Usually, dyes only cover half my head. The conditioner that they also supply is quite effective too. It definitely left my hair silkier and smoother. The only qualm about the conditioner is that it left my skin feeling very slimy in the shower and the product doesn't smell too great either. They do give a lot of the conditioner too, I've used it twice already and I still have maybe half of it left which is nice. Overall, a very decent product which I am glad to have tested.

L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss 316 Plum

So a few months ago I found the most amazing home dye colour a dark red but I was about to go to the super market and get it again to do my re growth ad I got an invite to trial this product I thought why not, Once I accepted I went to the L'Oreal site and picked a colour there wasn't any reddish colours I was after so I thought Id go purple why not haven't been purple for years...I picked 100 licorice because it looked purple on this website but when I received my parcel it was black as black as you can get it took me years and a lot of money to get black out of my hair from my teens so I just couldn't go back. I went to the super market and brought 316 Plum still very dark but better a tad better than black.

In the box you get a pair of high quality gloves in a little capsule, the nozzle to screw on the bottle, the bottle of developer creme, The creme colour, Instructions and the conditioner in a neat little box which if you place on it front and push in the dotted lines it has a holder for your bottle of dye so you don't make a mess on your counter.

The no ammonia claim min this dye is amazing you don't end up being choked out of your bathroom it has a slight chemical scent but nothing unpleasant.

Instructions are simple to understand and the whole process is super easy.

I spread the dye through all my hair and left it for 30 mins then washed out with water then x3 with my shampoo to get all the excess colour out then I used the conditioner in the pack.

I then dried my hair and it was very dark very purple very glossy a colour and look my teenage self would have loved, but not what I like now I don't mind the colour its beautiful just not what I want for my hair at the moment but the gloss I dislike more than anything in my hair ever I don't know why but I hated it and I never use the word hate... I washed it the next day 5 times with shampoo trying to get some of the colour out and gloss a lot of colour seemed to be coming out of my hair from what I could see in the water after I dried my hair I could see it wasn't as glossy which I was super pleased about but the colour didn't budge which is good for people who want a hair dye that will last.

I wont repurchase this again because of the gloss even tho that's what the whole product is about I never thought it would be that intense, The colour is stunning if you are after a dark but very purple colour this is for you!

L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss - Light Brown 600

To start off with I must say I only colour my hair once a year. I normally have black hair with a bit of brown mixed in where it has grown out. I chose to receive the light brown shade (number 600).

This product claims to be a semi permanent boxed dye which washes out in 6-8 weeks. The website states that it "gives you a natural-looking colour with visible shimmering tones and glossy shine" and it also states that it is a non drip formula.

I used this product in the week I received it because I wanted to test how well it lasted over the weeks as I tend to wash my hair everyday.

The instructions were pretty straight forward. The smell was really pleasant and the product applied quite easily. The applicator bottle was super easy to use. I have mid-length to long, thin hair and the amount of product was used up quite generously in my hair. Once applied I went back to my normal routine while waiting for the 30 minutes to be up. I dd not have to worry about any drips at all.

It was super easy to wash out in the shower and it did not leave any stains. I used the conditioner that was provided and did not find it to be too beneficial. Was just another conditioner. This did not leave any residue on my towel nor did I get any colour transfer onto my towel. I heat styled as normal.

Colour pay off was brilliant once hair was dry. My hair had gone from black to brown. Two weeks on my hair is still the same colour (even with the daily washing!)

This did not make my hair any shinier or glossier though. The condition of my hair remained similar if not a little bit worse after using this but I just ended up using a treatment conditioner which seemed to perk up the hair a bit.

Overall, this product is not bad for a box dye. I am unsure if I would purchase it again, (even though the colour pay off was great!), as it did not do half of the things that it claimed to do after I used it. It does smell better than most other boxed dyes though so could be a selling point for those who cannot stand the smell of other boxed dyes. :)

Tips: Put Vaseline around your hairline to wipe off any excess product with ease :)

Dark blonde

I was lucky enough to be chosen for the trial of this. I opened the box found a lovely big container of conditioner which great coz there is never enough in other brands. Next I opened the gloves, great fit. I hate getting big gloves, you can't do a good job with big gloves. I mixed everything up, nice smelling. Not horrible like most. Goes on well and easy. Nice vibrant colour, beautiful and soft afterwards. I've always had good results with at home hair dye kits and this isn't any different, would recommend even just because it doesn't stink the house out. I can't wait to see how the colour lasts over the next few weeks

Nice but not great at covering greys

I enjoyed using this product, but don't think I would again. The reason for this is that it didn't lighten my hair to the colour on the box, and didn't sufficiently cover my greys.

I can't really complain about either of those things though, because the product (1021 Very Light Pearl Blonde) did say that the result will depend on your natural hair colour (mine is quite dark ash blonde) and also says 'if you have a lot of grey hair this shade will not completely cover all grey'.

So in that respect, the product did do exactly what it said it would! It lightened my hair and provided some grey coverage, but just not quite as much as I would have liked it to do either of those things!

The things I did enjoy were the ease of use (simple instructions and a no-mess non-drip formula), the Nutri-Shine conditioner (nice smell and good conditioning properties) and the fact that there is no ammonia in the product. I did feel that the colour of my hair was nice and subtle, looking blonder but not noticeably dyed, which was a bonus as I'm not a fan of the really harsh peroxide blonde look.

In summary, I would recommend this product to a friend if they had naturally lighter hair than me or less greys, but probably not to a friend with hair like mine.

Tips: If your hair is any longer than around shoulder-length, or is very thick, you will probably need two packs to ensure full coverage.

There is plenty of conditioner so you can keep this and use for at least 2-3 conditioning treatments to keep your hair soft and shiny - a nice addition for light blonde shades which are often quite drying.
