I wasn’t going to buy this after hearing that L’Oreal test on animals, but then I did, I bought it from The Warehouse for $10.00.
It comes in a big round 300ml pot, which is red and white. I was keen to try it after using the Extraordinary Oil mask, which was fabulous.
On opening the pot, the smell isn’t strong, but it is a nice strong flowery smell, potentially too strong really, once you have it in your hand.
I like to smear a good handful through my hair, after I have washed and conditioned it, then let it soak into my hair while I relax in the bath.
The product says it is concentrated with an active serum of Pro-Keratin and Ceramide to deeply nourish and repair your hair. The light texture softens the hair, without weighing down.
It’s ok, and does nourish and repair the hair to a degree, but I’d say the extraordinary oil is much more moisturising on my dry hair. And I like the smell of the extraordinary oil more, even though this one is also quite nice. I did think this one would be better than it is though.
I wouldn't probably buy it again, unless the extraordinary oil wasn’t available.
Oh, and strangely, I liked it less as I got near the bottom of the pot, even the smell was annoying me by the time I finished it. I'm not sure why that was.
I made the big mistake of colour damaging my hair recently which left my hair burned, frizzy and breaking at the drop of a hat. This is when I decided drastic measurements needed to be taken so I purchased a semi-fancy brand hair mask. Enter L'oreal Paris ELVIVE Total Repair 5 Mask. I have used other products in this range before so was expecting some sort of good result.
The tub is quite a substantial amount which is good value for the price I paid. I paid $9.99 for this tub and I was quite surprised by how cheap it was considering it's a hair mask and a well known brand.
The formula is quite thick in consistency which made my heart happy. If it's thick it means to me that it has moisture galore and will penetrate my hair to lock in moisture. I wash my hair as usual and put this in my hair concentrating on the most damaged areas of my hair which is the tips.
I leave it in for a good ten minutes to let it really soak in to my hair. After I rinse it out I didn't really find it to be any different to what it was when I started. After four uses it feels slightly less rope like but not significantly better which I thought it would be.
I would expect for a well known well respected brand that it would give better results, Even after using it with their shampoo and conditioner it doesn't work that well. I am highly disappointed to be honest.
Tips: Use quite a bit of it to really get the hydration quality out of it.
