Packaging, I hate it, the bottle is cute but that’s about it. Too much going on with the sticker that makes it look ugly and unappealing.

Hair did not feel conditioned after use, I used a generous amount but it just felt like I was putting nice smelling water in my hair. Once rinsed my hair was rattier than before and knottier, it was a nightmare to brush actually.

My head is super itchy now that my hair is dry, and my hair feels dry and is very bushy, which i’m not a fan of. Even with an olaplex leave in conditioner overtop I feel like i’ve just bleached all my hair again.

Disappointing, to say the least, and I wouldn’t buy it.

Hair Food Banana Conditioner

Firstly I love that Garnier Fructis is cruelty free, vegan and made from 98% natural origins. This conditioner come in a bottle that reminds me of a juice bottle, its quite clever and looks nice. I love the smell of this conditioner it smells exactly like banana and fills up the whole shower when I wash my hair with it, its so good! My hair has been extremely dry lately and gets tangles very easy so I was excited to be trialing this particular conditioner. I love how soft and smooth it made my hair but without weighing it down. I found I could leave my hair a bit longer before I needed to wash it again which was so great as the last product I had been using made my hair looking very greasy fast. My 10 year old daughter also used this conditioner and it made her hair so soft and smooth and she also has quite dry hair but it is extremely thick, it just tamed it down and made it so nice.

A little too heavy - Garnier Banana Conditioner

I was chosen by the BR team to trial out the shampoo and conditioner and i have given my review of the shampoo and now it's the conditioners time. Again i wasn't the biggest fan, i found it too heavy and it made my hair flat and greasy looking even though i had washed it out well. There was no volume and i had lots more fly aways when i straightened the hair. The smell is very strong, and i could smell the fake banana smell until i rewashed my hair, so didn't really like that it was that over powering that i could smell it throughout the day, my daughter said i smelt like perky nana chocolate, not ideal.

I used it twice and couldn't stand the banana smell, i gave it to my niece and she loved it for her curly hair

Tips: make sure you distribute all through from bottom up and a little goes a long way.

Silky soft

Packaging unimpressive as it looks like a rather cheap cool drink, which is a pity because the product is excellent. Left my hair silky soft which is quite something as it’s fairly dry and very curly. The only downside was the strong banana fragrance but fortunately it did not last very long - only while washing. However, in saying that I would use it again.

Tips: Leave in for about 10 minutes if you can!

Mmmm great

The lovely conditioner came with the shampoo in a trial. It comes in the cute plastic flip top bottle as the shampoo and also resembles a juice bottle.

The product is very thick and white. I love thick conditioners, and I also like white shampoos and conditioners as they won't stain my white hair. I have been applying it generously, probably more generously than most people would use, but it is delicious, beautifully scented and bananary. Sadly the scent is not detectable after drying.

After use my hair is soft and hydrated and feels nourished. It is easy to comb through and I don't lose a handful like I sometimes do when combing it after washing.

It is around $11.50 but I would pay that much for it as I love it. It is also vegan and comes in a recyclable bottle, which I also love.

I recommend it to others to try, especially if you like banana flavoring - it is subtle but fabulous.

Tips: Use with the matching shampoo.

Not hydrating enough for my hair

As much as I loved the shampoo, this conditioner sadly didn’t live up to the challenge of rehydrate and smooth my hair. The scent is amazing, albeit a little weaker than in the shampoo, I would’ve like it the other way ‘round, so my hair would keep more of the scent after drying. I had to use a lot, a little doesn’t go a long way for me, so I will definitely run out of the conditioner before the shampoo, but it’s fine with me as I sometimes swap my conditioner to a deep treatment, so it’s no biggie for me, might be a problem for others though. After trying to dry and brush my hair I noticed how knotty it was, I had to use a lot of detangling spray to be able to brush my hair. It could be due to this product not containing any silicones, which would coat my hair and would make it more manageable, I’m not against silicones, so this factor is not important to me. After drying my hair was a frizzy, poofy mess, it looked terrible, yet when I touched my hair it felt soft, so that was weird. I had to use double the amount of my heat protectant smoothing cream to get my hair to behave. After straightening my hair was as usual and popped a bit of oil to hydrate my hair further as it lacked shine, it was a bit dull looking. My hair is heat-damaged, coloured and naturally very frizzy, so I didn’t expect miracles of this product. I will definitely use this up, but might just use it on my scalp and use a more heavy duty one on the lengths and ends. If your hair is normal or just a little on the dryer side from winter, it might be enough for you.

Lovely, fragrant conditioner

I was excited about trying this Garnier Fructis hair food conditioner with banana, especially because it claims to be able to target ‘dry’ hair, and my hair is a bit like the Sahara right now! So anything hydrating appeals to me at the moment…

Like the shampoo in this range, the conditioner comes in a cute little bottle that actually looks just like trendy smoothie packaging, i.e. good enough to drink! However, the use of the words ‘food’ and ‘banana’ on the packaging as well could be somewhat enticing to younger children, so please do keep these hair food products out of reach of kiddies!

The first thing I noticed when I squeezed the conditioner from the bottle was that, unlike the shampoo in this range, the conditioner looks creamier and has more of a banana-y colour to it. It looks and feels appealing to use. The texture is perfect – not too thick nor too thin, just lovely, and also it is easy to squeeze out of the bottle.

This conditioner has the edge over the shampoo in this product range in terms of its fragrance. It has a lovely banana scent and it just smells divine! I was really thrilled with the smell of this conditioner!

The formula overall felt fairly similar to Garnier’s tub conditioner treatment, in terms of look, feel and smell. And it was easy to lather up and rinse out, just like the bottled hair food shampoo.

I enjoy using this conditioner perhaps somewhat more than the shampoo in this range because the conditioner has a lovely, more noticeable fragrance, which feels a bit more pampering and luxurious to use.

As for the overall results, however, I don’t feel this conditioner makes much of a difference to my dry hair…. But it is still very pleasant to use, with its lovely, creamy texture and luscious fragrance. So, overall, I would recommend this conditioner to most people as it is gentle on the hair (being of 98% natural origin), kinder on the environment, cruelty-free, and it feels and smells luxurious to use. Four kisses.

Tips: Keep out of reach of kiddies

Nourishing without weighing down

My hair really enjoyed this conditioner, its thick, creamy and easy to run through your hair. Definitely detangled those knots easy enough. I normally have quite dry and frizzy hair but it dried really smooth but without feeling oily or weighed down. I feel like it does what it says and my hair is feeling nourished and healthy. As someone who isn't a massive fan of banana smelling products I didn't mind the scent, it wasn't too over powering, but a pleasant sweet fruity smell. The day after using this I couldn't stop running my fingers through my hair, it stayed smooth and soft, looking pretty healthy. I'll be using this again.

Tips: coat hair well and leave in for a few minutes for a easy in-shower hair mask

Good all round conditioner

I think this product is a good all round conditioner. It’s not going to change your life but it’s a perfectly good cruelty free option.

First of all, I love the smell of this product. I didn’t find it to be super strong but it does smell like banana.

The packaging of this conditioner is nice - the bottle is compact so it doesn’t take up much space in the shower. The packaging is a bit ‘busy’ though.

In terms of performance, I did notice that it was detangling. It did not weigh down my hair like some other conditions. It was nourishing, although not the most nourishing condition I’ve used. I suppose it’s a trade off between being super rich and nourishing and not weighing hair down. I do think my hair looks slightly more healthy.

I did have to use quite a bit of product so I’m not sure how long the bottle will last me.

Overall, a perfectly good option that does somewhat do what it says it will!

Tips: Try to smell this product before you purchase. Although not super strong, it does have a distinct banana smell which might not be for everyone

Lightweight but moisturising vegan conditioner

This conditioner is great, the smell is yummy and the texture is thick and slippery enough that it coats the hair nicely for detangling and is easy to get out of the bottle. I have dry hair and I use the Garnier hair food deep conditioner once in a while, whereas this conditioner is great for use every wash day. It's vegan and silicone free which is a huge plus. The container is a good size (small enough for travel) and you just squeeze the bottle to get the conditioner out rather than a pump, so there's no wastage. I've also tested it out as a leave in conditioner - I have wavy hair and when it gets a bit flat or out of shape I wet it with my hands and smooth in a small amount of conditioner. This works great for that purpose as it's quite lightweight. Garnier is usually quite affordable so I would definitely recommend if you see it at the supermarket.

Tips: Don't apply to the roots or scalp area to avoid build up
