I was very interested to trial this product, there has been much hype about BB creams and how amazing they are, even the name of this one says its a "miracle" and "perfector" so i was a little excited to give this a go.
ive never used BB cream before, so i have nothing to compare it to, and i liked this yes, it found it interesting and essentially a foundation but i wouldnt call it a miracle perfecter cream, its more a light foundation.
the instructions say to basically use it the same as you would your moisteriser. i found out the very first time, that for me, this is not a good idea! im quite heavy handed on my moisteriser and as this is quite a light runny liquid i ended up in a bit of a mess. and a bit orange!
i got there in the end, a lighter application and a second application over the top is meant to cover more and make it a more matte finish. it looked fine and was easier to use than a foundation.
it blended in with my skin tone ok, once i had put less on! and i found it easy to blend into my chin and jawline, no obvious foundation line.
i have combination skin, bits of it are dry, bits are oily and bits are normal, this was fine on the normal/oily parts, however it really accentuated the dryer parts making it quite obvious i had a bit of flakey skin, so if you are like me then a wee exfoliation before application makes a lot of difference!
there is virtually no smell to this product, its very minimal which is great, strong scented products im not attracted to at all.
i found it rubbed off easily, there is no staying power to this, so maybe i would need to put a powder over the top, im not sure, i would lose the "glow" then surely. im not very good with makeup application, so i need to keep playing to see what i can do to make the colour last the distance.
would i use this again? yes. i find its easier to apply than a liquid foundation, it seems to be an ok colour, though i do have to be careful of applying too much.
as i havent had this product long, i cannot comment on their claim that in 4 weeks i would have clearly visible improvements in my skin, though i will keep using this and see what happens.
For a cheap BB cream I was pleasantly surprised! With typical and traditional BB creams they tend to cast a grey tint over my face, even if wearing foundation overtop. With this BB cream in "light" I was pleasantly surprised! It matched my skin-tone better than any BB cream I had tried before, although I'm not sure if this would work for extremely pale people.
I found the coverage to be high for a BB cream and it created a nice and natural finish on my face. When trialling this product I switched my routine up daily, to either wear alone or under foundation.
Wearing alone:
On these days I felt comfortable in my skin, but still a bit naked. The majority of my redness was covered and basic pimples were disguised aswell. The longevity of the product was acceptable and I found that it kept oil from developing in my problem areas for an acceptable period of time. I would say the finish wasn't completely matte, although I loved the finish. However, I noticed that sometimes it would clog the pores on my nose up ( especially when wearing under foundation) and it would look very unsightly, gross and very bumpy! Two thin layers of this BB cream would be adequate enough for me to wear it alone!
Under foundation: As this BB cream has quite a bit of coverage compared to primers and bb creams I have previously used it definitely pays to only use a thin layer when using it under foundation. I definitely found it helped my foundation to provide a higher coverage and also went on more easily and blended better! Although it can get quite cakey depending on how much foundation ( and what foundation) and how much BB cream you used. It's definitely best to try it out a few times and see what combinations work best!
The product and packaging: The formula for me was very runny! Although easier to blend I definitely found that it was messy to use. I often used a foundation brush to really work it around my face and minimise the mess. My cap always seemed to be covered in the BB cream when I opened it as It didn't seem to have a squeeze seal on the nozzle so it often just leaked out.
The scent of the BB cream was quite nice and tolerable for me but I couldn't smell it when I was wearing it ( which I hate)
I haven't been using this product long enough to notice the four weeks difference in skin qaulity but I will definitely update this when I know more! I have although noticed a reduction in breakouts as this BB cream may be more breathable than regular foundations!
The BB cream is definitely buildable and enables users to control the finished result easily.
This BB cream would be a great step for young women or first-time makeup users to use when starting out on foundation! If this had been around a few years ago I definitely would have been happy for my mother to offer this alternative over a foundation! I believe this could be a great stepping stone for beginners. If this had been around longer I would have saved myself alot of mistakes in my early days!
Tips: Apply with a brush to get a nicer more even finish, Use thin layers in order to easily build up the coverage Only use one thin layer under foundation as it can easily get cakey
Offer it to your child as a "first foundation"
