My skin type is mature combination, prone to breakouts. This means that some surfaces are nice and smooth with the appearance of tightly closed (almost invisible) pores, while other areas appear more bumpy with visible pores. This poses a problem for most foundation or concealer-type cosmetics and unfortunately this BB cream was no better or worse at improving the appearance of my skin than tinted moisturisers and very thin foundation liquids.
The Garnier BB Ccream has a texture and consistency a little like a slightly oily hair conditioner. It has a slight but pleasant enough scent - similar to the scent of tinted moisturisers. I'm not a big fan of tinted moisturisers because they don't seem to set. Similarly this BB cream has a tendency to transfer a little bit and a touch test one hour after application results in a shiny, oily substance transferring to the finger or tissue used to test.
Despite the claims on the box I didn't find that it was any better than a thin liquid foundation at reducing wrinkles or correcting blemishes. I did try using it as a concealer and to cover redness a slightly thicker 2nd layer did work. My L'Oreal concealer got its usual workout for concealing dark under eye circles and blemishes though every time I used this BB cream.
The claims that this product firms skin in 2 weeks could not be fairly assessed during our 10 day trial and I didn't notice any firming over the course of the trial period. Since then I have continued to use the BB Cream and have noticed that my skin appears younger/firmer.
The colour I chose was light since I have very fair skin. Unfortunately, like most other foundations I've tried over the years, even the light colour leaves me with skin that looks more orange than anything else. Summer might be a good time for me to use this BB cream - the orange would just look like I'd used a tanning product.
There are times when I would use this product (like being on a beach holiday) but for every day I prefer a foundation that sets or to leave the foundation out altogether and just use a minimum of concealer, blush, lipstick, etc.
I have dry sensitive skin which I thought would be perfectly suited to this product.
First of all I was very surprised at the thickness of this product and found it was more easily applied with my fingers and sunk better into the skin this way. I am happy to say this has not irritated my sensitive skin however does cling to dry patches. It does feel nice a moisturising on the skin but I think I would still apply a moisturiser underneath to help prevent the clinging of the product to drier areas of skin. I found the light shade was quite a good match for my skin tone but gave only very light coverage (I expected higher coverage to be honest, especially considering the thickness of the product).
I find the tinted moisturiser I use more often has a higher coverage than this product and found this bb cream did not even out my skin tone enough. It did add a bit of colour to my skin but my redness was only slightly reduced.
I don't really feel this does anything in terms of anti-aging but would have to use this a lot longer to see if this claim is true and considering I do not wear makeup on a daily basis I would probably not see much of a difference anyway.
I will not repurchase this as I know there are bb creams that give a better coverage available and would prefer to use them, however if you only want a very light coverage and product that feels light on the skin and gives some spf protection than this may be worth checking out.
Tips: Apply a moisturiser before this product if you have issues with dry patches. I found applying with my fingers gave the best and most natural finish on the skin.
