Light Coverage BB Cream

I have dry sensitive skin which I thought would be perfectly suited to this product.

First of all I was very surprised at the thickness of this product and found it was more easily applied with my fingers and sunk better into the skin this way. I am happy to say this has not irritated my sensitive skin however does cling to dry patches. It does feel nice a moisturising on the skin but I think I would still apply a moisturiser underneath to help prevent the clinging of the product to drier areas of skin. I found the light shade was quite a good match for my skin tone but gave only very light coverage (I expected higher coverage to be honest, especially considering the thickness of the product).

I find the tinted moisturiser I use more often has a higher coverage than this product and found this bb cream did not even out my skin tone enough. It did add a bit of colour to my skin but my redness was only slightly reduced.

I don't really feel this does anything in terms of anti-aging but would have to use this a lot longer to see if this claim is true and considering I do not wear makeup on a daily basis I would probably not see much of a difference anyway.

I will not repurchase this as I know there are bb creams that give a better coverage available and would prefer to use them, however if you only want a very light coverage and product that feels light on the skin and gives some spf protection than this may be worth checking out.

Tips: Apply a moisturiser before this product if you have issues with dry patches. I found applying with my fingers gave the best and most natural finish on the skin.

Good BB Cream, but BB creams might not be for me.

My skin type is mature combination, prone to breakouts. This means that some surfaces are nice and smooth with the appearance of tightly closed (almost invisible) pores, while other areas appear more bumpy with visible pores. This poses a problem for most foundation or concealer-type cosmetics and unfortunately this BB cream was no better or worse at improving the appearance of my skin than tinted moisturisers and very thin foundation liquids.

The Garnier BB Ccream has a texture and consistency a little like a slightly oily hair conditioner. It has a slight but pleasant enough scent - similar to the scent of tinted moisturisers. I'm not a big fan of tinted moisturisers because they don't seem to set. Similarly this BB cream has a tendency to transfer a little bit and a touch test one hour after application results in a shiny, oily substance transferring to the finger or tissue used to test.

Despite the claims on the box I didn't find that it was any better than a thin liquid foundation at reducing wrinkles or correcting blemishes. I did try using it as a concealer and to cover redness a slightly thicker 2nd layer did work. My L'Oreal concealer got its usual workout for concealing dark under eye circles and blemishes though every time I used this BB cream.

The claims that this product firms skin in 2 weeks could not be fairly assessed during our 10 day trial and I didn't notice any firming over the course of the trial period. Since then I have continued to use the BB Cream and have noticed that my skin appears younger/firmer.

The colour I chose was light since I have very fair skin. Unfortunately, like most other foundations I've tried over the years, even the light colour leaves me with skin that looks more orange than anything else. Summer might be a good time for me to use this BB cream - the orange would just look like I'd used a tanning product.

There are times when I would use this product (like being on a beach holiday) but for every day I prefer a foundation that sets or to leave the foundation out altogether and just use a minimum of concealer, blush, lipstick, etc.

Tips: Definitely for my skin type it's imperative to use a good cleanser and then a great moisturiser at least ten minutes before applying the BB cream. Without a thorough cleanse the BB cream emphasises any debris (it clumps and shines) and without the extra moisturiser I found the cream appeared unevenly applied 30 minutes to an hour later.

Also, think twice before using a BB cream when you have a cold or flu - constant touching of the same parts of the face with eg a tissue will leave you with areas devoid of makeup.

Start with a tiny amount - less than the pea-sized portion of toothpaste I would use was about right for me. Then, if areas of eg redness remain use a little extra over those areas only. This looks better than using a concealer or colour corrector for redness because using the BB Cream as both a foundation and a concealer results in all areas being an exact colour match!

Disappointing

I have oily, acne prone, maturing skin and I was quite excited to try this product in the hopes that Garnier would be able to pull off a cheaper option for me from what I’ve used in the past.

When I opened the tube and squeezed some out for application I found the smell, although pleasant, was loud and over powering and when I was sitting at my computer I would get wafts of the scent from it periodically. I want to smell wafts of scent from my perfume, not from my skincare products.

I applied this product using my fingers and found consistency of the product nice and easy to smooth over my skin, however, I found the coverage was that of a tinted moisturizer, not only that but it left an oily/dewy sheen on my skin that even by applying my mineral foundation would still show through. I love full MATTE coverage so this was a huge disappointment to me. If you already have flawless skin then you’ll love this, if you have acne, acne scarring, rosacea, or any uneven skin tone, this BB Cream will not even come close to evening them out.

Unfortunately this product had no staying power for me. It literally melted off my face along with my mineral foundation within about four hours (something completely unheard of!) and left my skin patchy where the product had settled into some of my lines. I was horrified to look in the mirror and find I looked like a zebra, no wonder I was getting funny looks at the shopping center. Due to this, I can not even continue using it to test out it's anti-ageing benefits.

I have used slightly more expensive BB Creams that do more than this one and although they are costly, they actually work and the price balances out because you use less.

The box says that it “Contains Sunscreen” however, it does not say what sun protection factor it is nor does the box recommend you to wear a regular sunscreen. For an anti-aging product, not only is this extremely misleading and disappointing, I find it is also irresponsible.

Tips: If you have mature yet oily skin, don't use a moisturiser first and definitely use a primer if you want to even attempt to make this product work for you.

Hi Imoshen, thanks for your comment on my review for this product. I can definitely see that you had the same issues with this product. I don't think I've ever struck a product that I almost could not bear to put on my skin again! :)

Surprising!

I have combination skin which is prone to being overly oily in the t zone with certain products. Also prone to breakouts with certain moisturisers and foundations. I was pleasantly surprised with this stuff! I was given the medium but I'd asked for the light so it was slightly too dark for me but the coverage was good. Not too heavy but buildable. I have broken capillaries and redness and it covered well. It didn't sit oily on my face and make my skin feel really nice - and no breakouts wahoo! A nice fragrance to it. Oh and it's such a bonus not having to use a separate moisturiser

Would recommend to friends and would happily keep using myself in the correct colour. Also great value

Pretty close to a Miracle!

Well I should describe me before I can give you a review of the new Garnier BB cream. I'm 53, I have a fair complexion, with olive undertones. I don't have redness, but I do (still!) have breakouts to cover and of course lines and wrinkles, which adds a different dimension to my likes of a foundation coverage. I'm not going to compare packaging etc. to more expensive products so I thought for the price it was nice, it was easy to squeeze, I liked the colours and the fact it stands on its lid, also that it has a flip and not a screw on top. The texture was good and I found it reasonably easy to apply, it seemed to sit on the top of my skin and showed my pores so it was necessary to use my Kabuki brush to even it out, the coverage was light which I expected, saying that it did cover my skin variations. It surprised me with a lovely cooling feel. The first time I used it with full make up, I did not find it that easy to apply my blusher (powder) it didn't want to glide on. My test of a foundation is how it looks by the end of the day, it scored well, still had coverage and hadn't collected in my lines (which some foundations do and make the wrinkles look worse LOL). I have tried a BB cream before and wasn't impressed so I'm pleased to say, yes I would buy Garnier BB cream again, thank you Beauty Review for the chance to review this product as I probably wouldn't have purchased it.

Tips: Use a Kabuki or foundation brush to even the cream out when applying.

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream - Anti Age

My skin is dry and dehydrated, though can get oily patches; and is an olive complexion.

I had very high hopes for this BB Cream especially as it was one of the first of the brands to come out with the BB Cream. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the cream. I ordered a 'medium' colour, as often the light ones are too light and I didn't want to look washed out. My skin is generally a medium colouring for a lot of products. The colour looked quite dark straight out of the tube but once applied wasn't as dark. On my skin it was quite a pinky orange hue, and not a good match to my skin tone. I also had an issue with the smell- it reminds me of fake tan and hung around throughout the day.

I occasionally have sensitive skin but am normally fine with most products, this product however left my cheeks red once the BB cream was removed.

Packaging was fine, a handy sized tube. Price is great if the product worked for me, however I am happy to pay more if I felt it was a better product overall.

Lastly, the product would benefit from stating the SPF level and whether it is broad spectrum UVA, UVB on the bottle

Tips: This product may be better use in the summer, with more tan skin colouring. If you have sensitive skin it would be best to go with the sensitive skin range as opposed to anti-aging

Did not inspire

Anti aging BB cream First reaction when I opened the package is a very distinctive smell. Strong and quite over powering. I tried it on the back of my hand, it did feel nice and soft and the colour blended well with my skin.

On using this product on my face it felt very thick and gluggy. I tried to spread it evenly and thinly but it just felt too heavy for my skin. Yet again the fragrance was very over powering. I started wearing it to work instead of my foundation, but found the colour does not last long. It did make my cheek skin feel soft but it left my nose area very oily. Overall I don't believe I would use this product again.

To BB or not to BB

I was really looking forward to using this product having never used a BB cream before. It's a great price range and I do like Garnier products. My face has fine wrinkles and a bit of a uneven skin tone. I found the product easy to apply using my fingers to smooth over my face and found the colour match excellent. When looking in the mirror though the coverage wasn't great it was like it hadn't sunk in to the skin I could see lines on the surface. This product is so oily that it felt and looked horrible on my face. About a hour after putting it on I looked in the mirror and my face just looked really shiny with oil, I wouldn't of gone out in public looking the way I did. On day 2 of trying the product I put a powder over the cream to try and get rid of some of the oil look, this did take some of it away but still not all. The product says it looks natural on the face but the oiliness for me really made my face look horrible. I do not think it made my face feel firmer at all, but I do think it filled in the wrinkles, but overall just not a look I would go for at all and would much rather wear a foundation that has a good coverage without the oily look.

Tips: - Use powder over the top to reduce shine

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream - Anti Age

Firstly thank you to BR for giving me the opportunity to take part in the Garnier BB Cream trial. I love the handy little tube which is great for your hand bag. My initial request was the medium tone cream but found it was too dark - so I blended it with a lighter shade of another BB cream which did infact lighten the colour. I have to say that it is a lovely light liquid but failed to give me the coverage I expected and have experienced with another brand. To recommend this product I would have to try the lighter shade without blending it with another product. Im sure I would get a different result.

Tips: Always test colours on your hand before you purchase.

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream - Anti Age

I used this product twice daily after receiving it. My skin feels smoother and softer. It was thick, creamy and smooth and had a faint chemical smell. It applied fairly smoothly with good coverage, but there were occasional streaks to rub in.

I felt comfortable using it on it's own I also wore it under make-up. The packaging says it has sunscreen, but not what level of protection, it would be useful to know what level it has in it.

I am happy to continue using it to see what my skin feels like to compare it to what it claims after 4 weeks of use. I'd buy it at the RRP, while the current smell doesn't put me off I would prefer it to have a nicer fragrance.

Tips: Make sure it's rubbed in completely, I applied this over my normal moisturiser. I think I'll try a second application to increase coverage as it says in the application instructions on the box.
