Good, however a waste of money..

This brush shampoo is pretty decent. It does however come in quite a small bottle!

The shampoo is clear and on the thicker side consistency wise. It has no fragrance. I found that it didn't go very far either.

It does a good job at removing makeup from the brushes and leaves them feeling soft afterwards.

I prefer to use baby shampoo with a tiny bit of dettol mixed in to disinfect as it is much cheaper, and does the same job!

Great Brush Cleaner!

Prior to this I had never used a brush cleaner - so I wasn't sure what to expect. This was only US $3 when I bought it, so I wasn't going to be too miffed if I decided I didn't like it.

This comes in a semi transparent bottle, so it is super easy to see how much product you have left. I really like that. I also like that the dispenser (it is one of those pop up ones), makes it easy to disperse product without it squirting all over you.

You only need a small amount of this to thoroughly clean your brushes (I use a teaspoon of this and that washes roughly 30 brushes). It has a light scent but it isn't overpowering.

Since having this I have used it around 5-6 times and my brushes are still soft and this doesn't leave any nasty residue on them (provided you wash it out properly).

In all honesty, I think this is a great brush cleaner and it does was your brushes really well BUT it doesn't really do anything more than my old routine (dishwashing soap and olive oil), didn't do. If you prefer the idea of buying a brush cleaner (as opposed to making your own), then I recommend this.

Tips: When washing and drying your brushes ALWAYS make sure no water goes into the ferrel (the metal part that joins the brush to the handle). If water gets in there then that can loosen the glue that holds it together and the hairs will fall out.

Dry your brushes with the brush end facing down to avoid this :)

Great brush cleanser

This was the first ever brush cleaner I have ever used and was really unsure what to expect from this as it was quite cheap compared to other brands.

I was shocked when I first received this product as it is such a small bottle and I was expecting bigger. I do love how it comes in a dark transparent bottle which makes it easy to see how much product is left. Also, how you get the product is neat as you can control the amount instead of accidentally tipping out o much.

The results however when using this brush shampoo was amazing as it removes stains from your brushes instantly. I have found that my brushes have kept there shape well and are super soft.

I really love the scent of this product as it isn't overpowering like Baby Shampoo and the scent doesn't linger on your brushes.

e.l.f Brush Shampoo

Before this I had never used a brush shampoo before, thinking of it as an unnecessary product. I picked this up from Kmart when doing an ELF shop although you can get it for much cheaper online.

I really like the packaging. At first I thought the bottle was rather small for a shampoo but I've had mine for over six months and still have some left, you really don't need to use a lot. I like the semi-transparent, dark plastic bottle as it allows you to see how much product you have left and the cap is great for dispensing as much or as little product as you like.

The formula itself is a clear, unscented gel. A little goes a long way and it works well with warm water to easily remove the make-up from my brushes.

I know I could make my own brush cleaner but I'm more than satisfied with e.l.f's and I will be repurchasing again.

Tips: Wash and dry your brushes upside down to avoid getting water into the ferrel. I find my brushes only need cleaning on top so there isn't a need to fully submerge them.

Pretty good cleaner

As everyone else has said, it comes in a nice transparent black bottle so you can always see how much is left. The bottle is nice and easy to squeeze product out of.

I haven't noticed a discernible smell to this product which I think is good as you wouldn't really want your brushes smelling of anything.

I will get a lot of washes out of this bottle, although it is small, you do not need to squeeze a handful of product out to get all your brushes clean. I usually get about 10 brushes clean using about 2 or 3 20 cent piece sized squeezes.

The reason I've given this such an average rating is that it is very good at getting all your powder brushes clean, it's not so good on cleaning the brushes that have had liquid makeup on them - I.E double wear foundation. I have to do my foundation brush 3 times and I'm still not 100% happy with the cleanliness of it. The other this I don't like is the price - I got this off a NZ website for something like $12 and feel it's pretty overpriced. Wouldn't pay this much for it again. I think I'll look at cheaper alternatives.

e.l.f Brush Shampoo

It seems to be a pretty standard brush shampoo, it does what it needs to and is cheap so I like it! It's the only brush cleaner I've ever used though so I don't know if there is some other holy grail brush cleaner, this works fine for me.

A great affordable brush cleanser

I have had my e.l.f brush cleaner for over 4 months and I still have a ton of it left. I was my brushes once a week, unless I have been using really intense colours. My brushes always look as clean as they were when I bought them after using this cleaner.

The cleanser is a thick gel like substance which you squeeze out of the bottle. You only need a little pea sized amount for most face brushes and a little bit less for eye and lip brushes. I do find that the container makes it hard to squeeze out the product as it is made of hard plastic. After squeezing it does leave the bottle looking a bit like it has been beaten up.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to shell out tons of money for a brush cleanser if you don't have very expensive of high quality brushes. Although in saying that I use it on my Real Technique brushes and it hasn't damaged them in any way.

Tips: Saturate brush bristles with warm water. Squeeze a pea sized amount of product on your hand and then rub the brush around in to it. Keep moving your hand to create different textures for the brush to rub against. Rinse with more warm water and the finish with a bit of cold water as you reset the brush shapes.

Good not great

I purchased my e.l.f brush shampoo from Kmart for about $10 a few months ago. I was excited to try this product as I have only ever cleaned my brushes with detergent or hand wash (bad idea I know). This resulted in me having to purchase new brushes regularly so I hoped this product would make them last a little longer.

The shampoo didn't really foam up as I thought it would, I found I had to use a lot of product to cover all my brushes. It also did not fully clean my brushes or lift any of the foundation stains. It did however clean off all the makeup dirt and left them smelling fresh and clean. I don't think I will use this product to deep clean my brushes but could be good for light cleaning in between washes.

Elf brush shampoo

I was really excited to try this product as iv heard a lot of people raving about elf products and I have never tried them.

Anyway I was quite impressed with the brush shampoo. It didn't foam up at all which I wasnt too worried about (as I learnt when doing hairdressing a good product doesn't need to foam up to actually work) . It removed my make up really well. I was actually a little worried about how much make up was coming out of my brushes. I didn't need much product at all, I probably only used about a pinky nail size.

I applied this to my palm, wet my brush slightly, swished it around my palm a little and then pushed my fingers through the bristles from the base of the brush to the end of the bristles and it worked really well.

I found the shampoo to be extreamy thick it was probably the thickness of hair gel and it was quite hard to remove from the bottle. I had to tip the bottle upside and shake it really hard a few times to actually get a little dot of it out. If I was wanting to get a decent amount out I would probably be enclined to tip it upside down and leave it for a while then come back to it and wash the brushes.

Average

Overall, this is a good product because it does the job and cleans my brushes. However, it's nothing special and it isn't really any different to washing your brushes with anything soap based such as face wash, or hand soap. The packaging is square and so it is very difficult to squeeze out the product from it's container. How much you get out of the container is also uncontrollable because it just squirts right out in huge blobs or not at all. Squeezing a normal tube is fine but when I try and squeeze the product out of this, since it's square, the edges are sharp and so it actually hurts my hand which I'm not impressed with.

Tips: Mix it with water to dilute it
