This is the first time I have used a primer, and this is definitely a new step to my morning regime.
Every morning, I moisturised as usual, then after a few minutes I applied this primer. I used only the tiniest amount on my makeup sponge and applied all over - again, I waited another few minutes before applying my foundation creme.
Once the primer dried, I felt it looked pretty natural and I wouldn’t hesitate to wear primer by itself.
There were no miracles, such as instantly smooth out complexions, as per their advertising!
Overall I was impressed by this primer and how my skin looked after applying and will definitely be using it in the near future.
I was expecting the primer to be white (like my last Rimmel primer), so I was surprised to find that it was a creamy yellow/gold colour and also noticeably shimmery. As soon as I thought about it though, it made sense since it is a radiance primer. It was a nice consistency - slightly thinner than other primers I am used to, but not runny.
The scent was quite strong - it reminds me of the Clean and Clear orange 'Morning Burst' cleanser. I quite like it and I think that is to do with the sense of nostalgia it gives, but if you are sensitive to scents it may be too much.
When I first applied it, I could definitely notice hints of shimmer on my face and it seemed to be showing up on some dry patches so I was a bit worried. Then I realised that it was only in my super close up mirror that the shimmer was actually noticeable and really the overall look was just glowy - honestly no one would actually notice the particles of shimmer unless they were extremely close! I would have liked it to be slightly more hydrating though.
Once I added foundation, the shimmer wasn't noticeable at all. It is like adding the foundation tones down the shimmer in the primer but brings out the luminosity overall, which is great and what I assume Rimmel was aiming for.
It is a great base for foundation, and I like that the shimmer is noticeable but not too overwhelming when worn alone. I will definitely continue to use this primer under the foundation from the same range, and I am excited to try it under other foundation formulas too.
Tips: Definitely apply moisturiser underneath.
