MAC Strobe Cream

Perfect to use if you don't have a primer. It does create a slight glow to the skin. Its quite moisturising and doesn't make the skin oily or break out thankfully. It does sell from MAC so don't rely on it to be cheap, but defiantly worth it!

Tips: Make sure you cleanse your face before you apply the product!

Great for a subtle glow

I bought this product for it's subtle 'dewy skin' effect, to use underneath and on top of my MAC foundation. It's secondary benefits are the moisturising ingredients which work quite well.

The only thing I don't like is this blocks the pores on my nose, but only when it's quite hot and humid outside.

Permanent staple

Strobe cream is one of my staples, I love how it leaves my skin feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead.  It's my go-to when I don’t have time to highlight – ok who am I kidding; some people make time for their eyebrows I make time to highlight.  I’ve been using this product for a good 7 years and I haven't found another product that comes close.

I buy my lot from the US and it’s better value to buy 2 of the travel size bottles (30ml each) for $USD10 each ( $NZD15 each - exchange rate dependent) than it is to buy 1 full size 50ml for $USD30 ($NZD48.)   Other than price there are pros and cons to owning one over the other.  The full size bottle packaging is quite lovely to look at but it's literally tough. You have to be quite firm in squeezing out the product particularly when you’re nearing the end of it.  Your option is either to cut it open (not sure you can Back2MAC destroyed bottles) or make do with whatever you can possibly squeeze out and then Back2MAC.  The travel size bottles are small to carry in your purse and easy to get every last bit of product you have paid for however I don't think you can Back2MAC travel size items.

I wear Strobe cream on top of my foundation or just on my plain jane face.  I don’t have a preference of which way I wear it because it performs well either way.  It has a thick creamy consistency with very subtle iridescent shimmers which blends nicely into the skin and thankfully it doesn't leave a white cast on me.  It has a refreshing scent but be warned a lot of my friends love this scent but just as many hate it too so it’s personal preference.  I  love the subtle ‘lit from within’ effect it has and how it adds a bit of radiance back to my face.  I'm more aware of how dull my face looks without a bit of Strobe cream.

For me applying Strobe cream is similar to how I apply organic coconut oil on my face – you don’t want to look like a grease ball.  I just apply light dabs of product across my face and lightly massage it in; if you can see grease when you move your head from side to side in the mirror then you’ve put too much.  The longevity of this product on my oily skin is quite decent a good 6 hours; I notice that it lasts longer when applied on top of my foundation.  I highly recommend this product; definitely grab a sample from your nearest MAC store.

Tips: When wearing strobe cream on top of liquid foundation I squeeze product onto the back of my hand and use a makeup sponge, spritz it with Fix+ and then pick up a bit of the product and push it along the high points of my cheekbones.

Strobe Cream

Quite a thick formula which can feel a bit yuck on your face. Sparkly and smooth which provides a perfect base to keep foundation on for a long time.

Tips: Need quite a bit in order to smooth it all over your face for full coverage

Glowing

This was one of the first primer/base I used and I found it great. It definitely gave me a nice glow and was hydrating and brightening. More of a moisturizer than a primer. Still really like the product just doesn't quite do all it's said to do.

Just the right amount of glow

At first, i didn't like this product. I tried dabbing it on my cheeks after applying foundation to use as a spot highlight but it never looked right. Now I use this either as a primer on my cheeks (different primer on the rest of my face otherwise i can look a bit oily) or mixed into my very matte foundations, and i love it! Using it on my cheeks under foundation boosts any powder highlight i add on top of my foundation. It also gives my skin a subtle all over glow when i mix into matte foundations. I find it to be fairly hydrating on the skin and would even wear it on the cheeks on days i don't feel like wearing foundation.

Tips: Play around with this product, there's a few different ways you can use it. Very versatile.

When you want mega glow

This is a bit of a cult classic but being that I had a couple of illuminating Primers in my arsenal I had never picked this one up until recently. This one packs a bigger punch than any other highlighting primer I’ve used while still providing another layer of hydration for your skin before foundation- always a good thing. It has a faint almost sunscreen scent and a little goes a long way- id say my 30ml sample tube is going to last me forever! I used it regularly for theatre recently and found it held up well under the lights. I can definitely see why it has such a following!

Very dewy

Love thi as a base for my foundation! It helps stpp my foundation clinging to dry patches, makes my skin appear super dewy and feels velvety. Definitely a must have

Nice and Hydrating

I like this cream as a pre makeup cream, very hydrating and makeup sits well on it. I also use it occasionally as a highlighter after makeup on high cheek bones and above lips in the cupids bow.

Tips: Less is more, its easy to build up but too much applied to hard to cover up!

Love this product, perfect as a primer

I struggled with primers etc, it just seemed like another step making getting ready all the more tricky and time consuming. But I was in MAC and saw this product and as a dedicated MAC girl I thought I would give it a try and I have never looked back.

Tips: Wear on makeup free days for a healthy glow or under your foundation for longer lasting makeup
