elf eyelid primer

i got a mini one of these with one of my eye shadow purcheses with them, so i really cant complain about a free primer! however my eyelid does get a little oily during the day so found the crease proof quote coming into question as it did with me, either then that i do like this primer and do find i get a better colour payoff with my shadows when using this as apposed to using nothing

e.l.f. Eyelid primer

I have never used an eyelid primer before until I purchased the e.l.f. eyelid primer!!

Wow I never thought I had a problem with my shadows coming off during the day until I used the primer. My eye shadow does not move at all!! After 10-12 hours my eye shadow still looks like it has been just applied1!

it has basic packaging, with a doe foot applicator its light and unscented which is great as the eyes can tend to be more sensitive.

It applies very smoothly and dries very quickly I generally will run my finger over once applied just to smooth out a bit more.

I have the nude (sheer) and find it is great for enhancing most colours of eye shadow. I would suggest not to use a huge amount as you don't need it, and then you don't have to worry about unsmooth looking eye shadow.

I would recommend this product to others as its very reasonably priced, easy to apply and is a great enhancer .

This product is easy to remove at the end of the day.

Tips: apply quickly as it dries fast, don't be too heavy handed!

Super cheap and efficient!

The main reason I love this product is that it is vegan, not tested on animals, and super cheap; at $5 there was no way it could go wrong. The packaging is simple and feels quite cheap, but that is to be expected for its price. I have the eyelid primer in white. It's easy to use and this has significantly increased my eye shadow's staying power. Previously when I would apply glittery eye shadows I would end up with glitter all over my face and eye shadow falling from my eyelids, but when I use the primer I experience no fallout of glitter as it sticks straight to my eyelids. Also, because the primer is white, it allows sheerer colours to appear more pigmented and 'pop' more. My eye shadow used to always begin to crack and wear off half way through the day but since I began using the eyelid primer my eye shadow remains looking freshly applied at the end of the day. This primer even managed to get my eye shadow to stay in 80% humidity for a long 7 hour day a few days ago! Needless to say I am impressed. The only downside of this primer is that my one seems to have glitter in it for some reason, which can be a nuisance if I am applying eye shadow that doesn't have shimmer, but the glitter is not too noticeable. The primer is easy to remove as well, one wipe removed it and my eye shadow.

Tips: Only apply a little, you do not need to apply as much as you think you might.

Still not sure...

I have repurchased this primer about 3 times, but I'm still not sure about it. I've never used another lid primer so I don't have anything to really compare it to, but my current one is almost dry and I will be trying something else to see. It's just a fine product. It does make my eye makeup last a wee bit longer, but not enough for me to rave about. Has a velvety texture once applied to the lid. Good if you want something inexpensive and not much of a loss if it doesn't work out.

Poppin' Champagne

So I bought this in Champagne because I pretty much always want some form of shimmer in my look. I really don't know what to think. I feel like maybe I should splurge on a slightly higher quality eyeshadow primer, maybe even a paintpot, because although this primer makes my eyeshadow last a bit longer, it really doesn't do anything to make the colours "pop" and that's equally important to me in an eyeshadow primer. But I will say that it definitely stops my shadow from creasing and it might be my imagination here but I feel like my shadow was applied more smoothly with this underneath it. So I don't know, I don't think it's an amazing primer but I also don't think it's awful either. I've also noticed that it kind of clumps around my lashline.

e.l.f Eyelid Primer

I dont hate it, but its not really my favourite. BUT for the price $3 on iherb you cant complain and it does stop creasing so thats a plus. On a down note, its quite thin and didnt effect the actual look/out come of my eyeshadow aplication, which is why I brought it. But its good to make the shadow last longer, I do however like the more expensive primers over this but its to be expected as you get what you pay for in most cases.

Elf eyelid primer

Another iherb purchase for me, not one I will bother with again. The primer is thin and blends easily on the eyelids, shadow adheres well to it and I feel that it did help my eyeshadow to last well through the day. However it did nothing to make my shadow pop as other primers, paint pots or grease stocks do. I realise elf is a cheap and cheerful brand it the chemical smell of their products is a real turnoff for me. Will be sticking with my other primers from now on.

Better than more expensive primers!

I won't bother buying any more primers - this one does the job well, and it's very affordable! It has a slightly oily texture which is odd when you apply it considering you want oil free lids, but it dries down well. Makes my eyeshadow last all day, despite my naturally oily lids. Don't use too much, and blend it in well with your finger. I prefer the 'sheer' shade. I also have 'pearl', but I didn't find it as long lasting and it was too sparkly.

Tips: Let it dry thoroughly before you apply your eyeshadow

Not bad for its price

I got this as part of a haul just because I saw it was cheap and I thought why not. It's by far not the best primer I've used (Fav at the moment is urban decay eyeshadow primer) but it does what a primer is supposed to do. It does the job and holds the eyeshadow for much longer, makes the colors more vibrant as well as makes the eyelid smoother looking. Because it's colored, it actually makes has a very slight concealer effect, so that's a plus. The texture is quite nice, and application is easy with the wand, although I prefer to blend it in with my fingers.

Good if you want a cheap primer

I think this primer is a really good, affordable option if you are on a tight makeup budget. It's only a few dollars and you can get it from quite a few places online and also instore at Kmart.

This is really easy to use, you simply swipe a small amount (definitely go with a small amount, too much and it will crease) on your eyelids and then I rub it in using my fingers. I then like to let it dry for a couple of minutes before I put shadow on top.

For a while this was my fave primer and I loved using it to get creaseless eyeshadow looks and to help colours be a bit brighter. Then summer came along and my eyelids started getting super oily and gross and this just didn't cut it for me anymore and my eyeshadows were creasing after only a couple of hours. I started using the urban decay primer potion and that is magic for my eyelids so I can't see myself using this product again.

I would still recommend it to others though, if you don't like it then you haven't wasted a large amount of money and if you do like it, then that is great. It does also come in a few other colours so that is handy when you want to do different kinds of eye looks. The tube has a really good amount of product in (I'd been using mine for months and still had heaps left).
